Chapter 4: The Witch House—“Where Fear Walks”

Skye & Cela followed the shape-shifted Druids on a trail that broke away from the path toward Sheila’s house. The new trail narrowed quickly, as vines dangled from the trees and thick roots jutted from the ground. Cela heard the rushing river first, noting that this was the first time they’d traveled so close to it since their arrival in Deadwater. Overhead, the trees grew so closely that they began cutting off sunlight. Every few feet, a stray patch of sunlight broke through the trees. The further they walked, the darker it would get, seemingly unnatural for the time of day.

Marigold & Thistle kept tracking, slowing down to accurately follow the scent. As the dogs approached a huge cypress tree, they passed underneath a low-hanging limb. Cela would need to duck, but it posed no problem for Skye or the shifted Druids.

OOC:

Skye, use any Ranger Skills, Feats, or Traits that apply. It’s difficult terrain for movement.

I also need a DEX Save from you both.

Chapter 4: The Witch House—“Where Fear Walks”

Skye squinted at the ground underneath the tree limb. The path suddenly dropped six feet, but Skye caught hold of a vine at the last second. She swung easily down to the bottom. It was the most fun she’d had since the fight with the Trolls!

Chapter 4: The Witch House—“Where Fear Walks”

Cela was glad when their path branched off.  The townsfolk were wrong in who to blame this on, not that it would matter if they didn't find the girl in time.

She tries to dodge the tree limb.

Chapter 4: The Witch House—“Where Fear Walks”

The nimble halfling noticed the path descended, and with a quick scan, saw the vine. With a smile, she jumped out, grabbing the vine, and swung on it as she descended. Landing on the path again, she brushed her hands with a smile. “That was fun.” She muttered as she continued on, waiting on the others

Chapter 4: The Witch House—“Where Fear Walks”

Cela ducked underneath the low-hanging tree limb. However, when she stepped past the branch, her foot found empty air instead  ground! Cela started tumbling down the ravine, but nimbly leaped and landed in a crouch below. Marigold barked happily and rubbed her muzzle against Cela’s leg, seeming pleased that she hadn’t been hurt.

At the bottom of the ravine, they saw the path lead back up a three foot climb. The foliage grew thicker down here, and the swamp grew significantly darker. The scent of a flower wafted in the air. At first, the scent reminded Skye of jasmine. However, it had a sharper sweetness in its aromatic notes. Both women heard what sounded like whispers from the trees ahead…
