Chapter Two: The Tale of Deadwater

“Sister Mercion arrived over a year ago with a small band of adventurers from faraway. She traveled with a Paladin, an Elf, a Dwarf Fighter, a Female Fighter, a Halfling, and a powerful old Wizard. They slew a Dragon that threatened to poison the entire swamp. After that, the rest of the heroes moved on, except for Mercion and the Halfling. She said she had a vision from Pelor telling her that she needed to stay and guard our well.

That’s when she started her ministry for Pelor. One of the good deeds she’s done is help hold back the plague that keeps hitting our town. We nicknamed her ‘Mercy’ because more of my people would have died if not for her. No lie, that alone won a few new converts to Pelos, including me.”
His fingertips held up his symbol of the loving Sun God.

Chapter Two: The Tale of Deadwater

Simon looks thoughtful, "So, what you are saying is that the whole time she's been here a plague keeps popping up that only she can cure? And she has a fascination with your well?"

Chapter Two: The Tale of Deadwater

Joshua shook his head. “If you’re trying to say she caused the plague, you’re dead wrong, sir. Yellow Jack has killed people in my town long before Sister Mercy showed up. She’s one of the only reasons the whole town didn’t die off, her & Old Sheila.” His blue eyes fixed Simon in narrowed slits. “I won’t hear you talk trash about Mercy. I don’t care if you are some fancy adventurers, I won’t put up with it.”

Chapter Two: The Tale of Deadwater

In reply to Joshua Redfern (msg # 3):

Simon looks at Redfern, "Never put words in someone's mouth. It can lead to all sorts of misunderstandings. Has it occurred to you that the Well might be infected and she might be purifying it? Or, I suppose, any of a number of things, including the fact that the two are unrelated, o, possibly, that the source of her cure requires the well. I simply asked if I understood you right on 3 points:

"You are being repeatedly beset by a plague.

"This woman is about the only healer you have that has managed to control the plague.

"She has a fascination of some sort with your town Well.

"Is this not what you have said? No conclusions drawn, well, not by ME, at least, but a mere re-statement of the facts to be sure I have them clearly?

"Although...YOU seem to have considered the possibility she might be involved in the spread, somehow, as fast as the though came to your mind. I suppose we should consider that, as well, now. Interesting thought that Why do you think so?"

Chapter Two: The Tale of Deadwater

"You'll have to forgive Simon, Joshua."  Cela glares at Simon.

They have two minutes of a story told by someone who probably can't even read.  This kid is probably just trying to impress either Lenelle or Cela with exaggerations.  Now is not the time to throw out accusations, and they need to get into the gates.  If there's something to the theory, they can talk about it in private at the inn, or have Sundos talk to the priestess.

"He spent too much time with no one to talk to except his imaginary friend, and he gets these fanciful ideas."
