The Adventures of Sir Rhydwyn

Sir Rhydwyn has to make a few detours to avoid patrols and once to avoid an ambush, so it takes a few days to reach Wandborough.  As he travels, he asks others on the road after his brother.  Based on some of the information he obtains, he rides on up toward Cirencester, only to belated realize that the information was inaccurate.  This results in an additional two days spent wandering.

Sir Rhydwyn, rolled 14 using 1d20.  Hunting.
Sir Rhydwyn, rolled 20 using 1d20.  Intrigue.

Sir Rhydwyn takes a point in Intrigue (fumble).

Eventually arriving in Wandborough, he finds a rather nice church with a spring in an enclosure outside.  Depending on his level of Religious piety, he finds this anywhere from Inspirational to rather lame.

Father Baldric is the priest in the church.  There are a couple of taverns and inns around, as well as a manor at which Sir Rhydwyn can stay.  What would you like to do or to whom do you wish to speak?

Along the road, Sir Rhydwyn received information that a merchant had seen Sir Rhydwyn's brother heading toward Cirencester three days earlier.  This turned out to be a case of mistaken identity.  A couple of people (a farm hand and a woodsman) early in Rhydwyn's journey had confirmed seeing Sir Rhydwyn's brother traveling toward Wandborough some time ago.

The Adventures of Sir Rhydwyn

In reply to Teller of Tales (msg # 16):

Rhydwyn would first like to get a room and wash up so he can set his gear down for a bit, whether at the manor or at one of the inns or taverns. He has no strong preference for which one.

He'll wash up and change into some more formal clothing before going to speak with Father Baldric. Depending on the time, he might get some drinks.

Knights generally stay at castles or manors along their route.  Hospitality is a thing and as Cornwall and Logres are not actively at war, yet, you are not formally enemies.  In return for food and lodging, you provide news and if the host is lucky, a bit of entertainment.

Father Baldric is a slightly round man, probably in his forties.  His hair is thinning and starting to grey.  "Yes my son?" the father inquires when Sir Rhydwyn introduces himself.

The Adventures of Sir Rhydwyn

After introducing himself, Rhydwyn would say, "My brother has been missing for several months. I spoke to my court priest, Father Dafydd, and he said that my brother had taken a vow of silence before heading here. Have you seen him, or heard anything about him?"

Did you have a name for Rhydwyn's brother? If not I can just come up with one real quick - Rhydwyn would obviously clarify the brother's name to Father Baldric.

The priest thinks about this for a little while before nodding, "yes, I believe that he was here for a short while.  At least someone matching his description at about that time," he replies.

"As you say, the young man did not speak, so I did not catch his name but he was here most of a week.  However, he left soon after a group of nuns came to visit from down in Salisbury.  I think that would have been about 6 weeks ago," Father Baldric adds.

I'll leave it up to you to add any flavor about your family and manor.

Rhydwyn nods, internally sighing at his brother. "Thank you, Father. Did you happen to know what direction my brother headed in when he left? That would help me immensely in my search for him." He takes a swig from his drink after finishing.

Sir Rhydwyn can sleep in the local manor.  There is a common room for visiting knights and family.  Breakfast included.  Where is he off to in the morning?

In the morning he'd want to head to Salisbury, to look for any clues for his brother.

While at the manor, he'd look for any potential interested knights wanting a bit of fun, if at all possible.

The Adventures of Sir Rhydwyn

Sir Rhydwyn does not see anyone who might be of interest or have an interest.

Sir Rhydwyn, rolled 13 using 1d20.  Awareness.

In the morning, Sir Rhydwyn heads south.  Where in Salisbury would he like to go?  It is a large county that takes up a fair portion of the land South of Wandborough.

In reply to Teller of Tales (msg # 26):

oh, alright. He was going to look for some action at the manor, but if impossible I completely understand.

Rhydwyn will head south, and will listen for any information on nearby priories, nunneries, or monasteries. Since it will likely be evening when he arrives, he will get a room at an inn.

He's once again looking for action, if okay, whether with a servant, knight, or commoner.

Sir Rhydwyn:
oh, alright. He was going to look for some action at the manor, but if impossible I completely understand.

It is not impossible but you said 'knight' and generally speaking knights and ladies are not going to be one-night-stands.  I rolled awareness for you, which you failed.  So if there was someone interested, you did not notice.  Because you were in a place that really doesn't have a lot of knights other than your host, there was a modifier to your roll as well.  If you want to hook up with a servant, you only need to roll Lustful, but given your current Chaste/Lustful scores, your chances are not great.

Sir Rhydwyn is aware of at least one nunnery in Salisbury, having visited it in Amesbury.  There probably are not a lot of others in the immediate area although probably the nuns at Amesbury would know of others if they exist.  It is about a day's ride to Amesbury should you choose to go that way.

I updated the post on traveling to spell out options on where to sleep when on the road, including costs at inns.  Your character sheet does not list any money, so I am not sure what if any funds you have in order to stay at an inn.  However, if you have money and are so inclined, let me know what if any services you are purchasing.  If you are interested in hooking up with a knight, roll Awareness.  There may be modifiers about which you are unaware.  If you are interested in hooking up with a servant, roll Lustful.

Re: The Adventures of Sir Rhydwyn

In reply to Teller of Tales (msg # 28):

Alright, that's my misunderstanding. I guess I was thinking if a knight or courtier would be interested he could go with them, but if not he could go with a servant or something. Either way is fine.

Rhydwyn will spend the night at the manor, and will leave for Amesbury the next day.

22:28, Today: Sir Rhydwyn rolled 9 using 1d20.  vs Awareness 12 for interest in a knight.  - edit, actually ignore this, missed the part where you said you had rolled it

22:30, Today: Sir Rhydwyn rolled 17 using 1d20.  vs Lustful 7, for a servant.

Re: The Adventures of Sir Rhydwyn

Sir Rhydwyn spends the night alone, his sense of morality about relations outside of marriage overcoming his carnal urges, for the moment at least.

His ride to Amesbury is uneventful as he easily skirts any patrols or checkpoints, arriving in the early afternoon.  What would he like to do in Amesbury?

Sir Rhydwyn, rolled 11 using 1d20.  Hunting.

Sir Rhydwyn takes a point in Hunting (critical).

Re: The Adventures of Sir Rhydwyn

Rhydwyn will ask around for any directions to the nunnery once there (depending on how far it is from the village proper to the nunnery). He would like to speak with the leader of that nunnery for any information regarding the nuns and/or his brother.

Re: The Adventures of Sir Rhydwyn

Knocking on the door, Sir Rhydwyn is faced with a familiar older, shorter woman who previously introduced herself as Sister Yvette.  She seems just about as welcoming as before but seems swayed by his request and closes the door.

Sir Rhydwyn, rolled 3 using 1d20.  Courtesy.

A short time later, a tall thin woman in a nun's habit appears at the door.  After hearing his request she shakes her head, "we do not allow men here, and while a group from this House of God did visit the Holy Fount about that time, they would certainly not be cavorting with young men, regardless of how pious they might be."

Rhydwyn sighs once he leaves, disappointed that he hadn't heard anything of his brother. The Holy Fount though... could he have been there?

Regardless, he isn't sure if one person alone could make the journey to the Fount. He will head to the manor to wash up and get some sleep, before he journeys back to relay what he has found so far.

he's also looking for a bit of fun with a servant or knight, whoever's available really

Although he catches the eye of one of the servants, he can't seem to overcome his deep-seated belief in staying pure.  Eventually he heads to bed before returning in the morning to Warbstow Manor to relay his findings to his mother.
