The Adventures of Sir Rhydwyn

Spring 506 AD

It is not long after Sir Rhydwyn returns from the hunt that his mother pulls him aside and says, "your brother is still missing, Rhydwyn.  I am getting increasingly concerned.  At first we thought that perhaps he had gone off again without notice but has now been a couple of months and there is no word from him.  I think you should see if you can locate him."

In reply to Teller of Tales (msg # 4):

Rhydwyn nods. "I will see what I can do." Despite the constant bickering the two had done, Rhydwyn still wouldn't want his brother to be hurt.

A quick search of the manor reveals no brother.  So where to look or how to proceed?

In reply to Teller of Tales (msg # 6):

Rhydwyn is honestly unsure of where to start. He would likely consult any family histories, to see if that gives any ideas. It's not much to go on, but it's a start.

There are no written records.  He is free to ask people when his brother was last seen or where he might have been going.

Who would Ryhdwyn like to ask?  Feel free to flesh out members of your household, servants, or important people within the manor who could know something and I'll run with it.

Rhydwyn would likely start with his court priest Dafydd to see what information he has. The man is certainly older than Rhydwyn, so he might have some ideas.

Father Dafydd turns out to just the person to talk to.  He informs Sir Rhydwyn that his brother set out on a pilgrimage to a Holy Fount just south of Wandborough (north and a little west of Levcomagus in Salisbury).  He took a vow of poverty and a vow of silence before leaving, which is probably why he didn't mention anything about leaving to anyone.  Sounds a bit cultish if cults have been invented.

In Game Map 0, it can be located where the word 'White' is in upper-right of square L19.  Like Aeddan, you would be traveling in hostile territory should you choose to go there.  What path do you take and what if any story or precautions do you take?

Sir Rhydwyn, rolled 1 using 1d20.  Courtesy.

Sir Rhydwyn takes a check in Courtesy.

Rhydwyn would choose the most direct path to get to the burrough. He'd also get his squire and potentially some men-at-arms, if he thought he would face any potential combat on the roads.

The Adventures of Sir Rhydwyn

I updated the House Rules thread to explain the basics of traveling in Britain.  Bringing men-at-arms is helpful in fighting brigands or small groups of knights.  However, they prevent easy flight from foes and would likely be seen as more invasion force than a lone knight would be.  So feel free to use what is in that post to determine who you are bringing and if you want to travel carefully or recklessly.

Rhydwyn will actually just take his squire when traveling to Wandborough. He would travel carefully, sticking to the main roads along the path to ensure he got there quickly - and hopefully wouldn't be ambushed by thieves.
