Character Creation and House Rules

What's the first rule?<
No elite ninjas. If you want to play a Navy SEAL or a Delta operator then this is probably not the game for you.

House rules on character backgrounds
The campaign is set in Iran, contemporaneous to the v1.0 timeline and RDF Sourcebook background. The campaign commences in March 2001. PCs and NPCs are assigned to a unit in 9th Infantry Division (Motorized). They can be veterans of the 9th's battles in the Middle East, retreads assigned from Europe, or even civilian oil workers re-employed as "recruits" to the US military. How your PC arrives at March 2001 is your choice as a Player.

House rules on Twilight 2000 rules edition/s
The GM is using the Twilight 2000 1st edition timeline, but Player Characters can be submitted in v1.0, v2.0, or v2.2 (the GM has all three rules versions and will handle conversions at his end).

House rules on local languages
For every year that your PC has served in the CENTCOM operational area, assign (v1.) 10 bonus skill points to either LNG Arabic or LNG Farsi. So, for example, if your PC has been in the theater since 1997, by 2001 they could have accrued a basic "bargaining in the marketplace" level of language competence.

House rules on personal equipment
Whatever your PC can carry, whatever existed in the "Real World" prior to the T2K Thanksgiving 1997 nuclear exchanges, whatever your PC can fit into their pouches, pockets, and pack, that's all they have at the start of the game. Your PC must be able to carry all their worldly possessions. Whatever "cash" your PC has left over will be in military script.

Suggestions for personal weapons
These are GM suggestions, not hard and fast rules. The GM recommends standardizing on US small arms to simplify ammunition resupply. Generally speaking, if the weapon existed "Real World" prior to the T2K Thanksgiving 1997 nuclear exchanges (and the collapse of the industrial base) then your PCs can have it in the game. This includes, but is not limited to:
M16A2 rifle (5.56x45mm, 30RD detachable magazine)
CAR-15 Colt 653 carbine (5.56x45mm, 30RD detachable magazine)
M249 light machine gun (5.56x45mm, 200RD belt in box)
M60E3 light machine gun (7.62x51mm, 100RD belt)
M21 sniper rifle (7.62x51mm, 20RD detachable magazine)
M590A1 pump-action shotgun (12G, 8+1 internal magazine)
M9 pistol (9x19mm, 15RD detachable magazine)
Other suggested weapons of similar caliber include the G3A6 rifle (7.62x51mm, 20RD detachable magazine), which is an Iranian licensed copy of the H&K G3A3,and the MPT-9 submachine gun (9x19mm,30RD detachable magazine), which is an Iranian licensed copy of the H&K MP5A3.

House rules on vehicles
PCs please not select vehicles. The GM will assign vehicles appropriate to group size.
