Nakon System, The Vast

The trip through the Drift from Absalom Station to Nakondis has been most uneventful, save for the occasional curious sights to see flying through the Drift itself: an electrical discharge of brilliant blue in a vaguely simian shape, pillars that sprung up suddenly for a few moments appearing like solid bars of steel before the ship passes harmlessly through them, and a block of dull metal that dissolves into mist and leaves behind thousands of sparkling crystals.

The ship's navigation systems light up and a soft chiming tone alerts her crew that the ship is about to re-enter normal space. The graceful, swirling waveforms suddenly turn to blocky digital shapes before fading to darkness. After a single eye blink a misty white sphere with green and purple streaks is visible ahead of the ship. All ship's systems report normal operation, but navigation cannot detect the colony's beacon.
