OOC Thread + Party Recruitment + Tips for new Players
Keep your OOC musings, and party recruitment messages here. Adventure requests can also be here so I can get ready an adventure for a party. If you are shy or don't want others to know about your adventure you may also PM me.
Some Tips for OSR beginners:
- Even if you don't have decent charisma, its always a good idea to bring along some hirelings. You never know when a crab-man slave can save your hide. Their claws and thick carapace are more formidable than one would think. You can request for hirelings in this thread and I will generate them for you. Of course they cost money to hire and require a salary or even a portion of treasure obtained from adventures.
- Do not rely on rolls. Most of the time, rolls will almost definitely lead to failure especially at 1st level. Instead, actively describe your interaction with the environment (e.g. I strike the floor ahead with my 10' pole) to find traps or hiding creatures (e.g. I scatter a bag of sand ahead of me hoping that it will cover the invisible creature and reveal to me its location) waiting to ambush you from above, or where and how you are searching (e.g. I move my hand along the brickwork to find any loose brick that might be hiding a secret compartment)
- For a new character, surviving and escaping a dangerous place with gold and treasure is the main objective (1 GP = 1 EXP). If you cannot kill an opponent, run away, use caltrops to hinder their pursuit, or use improvised traps to ensnare or even kill them. Sometimes even exemplary roleplay making use of intimidation, blackmail or derision can damage the spirit of even the physically strongest of all foes - as long as they know the language you speak of course...
