That's not the ending I had intended for us to have, but the dice fall how the dice fall.

Technically, the four of you who failed saves against the banshee's wail are unconscious at 0 HP rather than immediately dead, but with no way to heal or return to consciousness, the banshee and the three ghouls who saved against the turn undead will kill the rest of you in the next 1-2 turns as well.

I hope you were able to enjoy the game up to the that point in the story. I haven't had a TPK in one of my games in over a decade. There's always a chance, especially with monsters who can zero your HP in a single round, like the banshee, but the dice were absolutely not in our favor for that crucial round.

So, that leaves us with a decision of where to go from here. The story of these characters is over, but in the wide world of D&D, there's always another story to tell. If you need to take some time to think things over, feel free to do so.

We can start this adventure over from the beginning with new characters. We can start a new campaign, and a different story all together. There is no obligation to do anything, of course, so walking away is also an acceptable option. If you have a suggestion or desire to play something in particular, now is a perfect time to bring it up.

If you're interested in a new game, lets talk about what everyone would like to do.

You know how I want to do a CoS game, that would be my vote if you want to GM one

For this one, I really enjoyed it and don't regret joining it after it started. It has been a blast and Khorth was fun to play with his wierd ways

Thanks for game, all of you!

I'm so sorry, everyone!!!  I cast the wrong spell at the wrong time and screwed up our protective silence.
My profound apologies, my friends

In reply to Ariadne Greenthorn (msg # 658):

While somewhat true, Akyra was going to get paralyzed this turn either way because of her saving throws, which also would have turned off the silence. At best, you would have gotten one more round of actions before the wail took place. It might have been enough, it might not. That's the way it goes, sometimes, and getting ghouls off the healers was just as logical a move as anything else, and probably the right play overall.

Ariadne....we all make mistakes, but either way I would have been paralysed so not your fault.

My vote is a new game. What we play is up to you.

Hopefully you all still around.

Ps....my aim is to finally play a warlock

Re: OOC: Umberage Hill

"Firehairs", don't feel bad, that was an epic TPK, and my first one in 30+ years of playing RPGs. I had fun and enjoyed playing with you all, that's all that count. Ultimately, its not GM Vs Players, the goal of those games is to build a story all together and have fun doing it, we will still be talking about that ending in years... and that means it was a success ;)

Re: OOC: Umberage Hill

That's right. It was just a fluke we all failed our saves and that made the TPK

Not your fault.

And as he said, it's part of tbe story

So far, I've got 2 talking about Curse of Strahd (COS), with mentions of Out of the Abyss and Tomb of Annihilation.

The current lean seems to be toward Curse of Strahd (of those who've voiced any opinion).

Does anyone not want to play CoS, but does want to play in a new campaign?

I'm a bit nervous about CoS, but only because it was the source of the only other TPK on Rpol.   :)

But I'll admit that i haven't played it all the way through, so I'm up for it if everyone else is

I'll leave this game open for a little while for those who like to save their writing and such, but I will delete the game after a while. That will move it to a new heading for Deleted Games, and it will stay there for about a year (I think) before RPOL actually deletes the game, so you'll have a fair amount of time to gather anything you want from it before it's totally gone.
