Game Rules

Rules of the Game

First some general rules:

1)Posting rate- I like it when everyone post their combat moves as soon as possible so we can resolve the combat round.  If you're character hasn't posted their combat move in reasonable time (usually about 2-3 days), I reserve the right to move on without you.  This could mean I will post a move on your character's behalf or your character may just stand around looking stupid for that round (and take damage).

Likewise I may post for you in non-combat situations if the situation requires it.  Frequent or long absences could get you removed from the game.  If you're going to be unable to post for several days due to real life issues, let me know.

2)As long as you are an active member in the game, I'm not going to deliberately try to kill your character off without discussing it with you first.  As long as you don't do anything incredibly stupid, don't worry about dying.  Even then, there are Back from the Dead drama points.  With that being said, the threat of death will be present. I don't guarantee that the good guys will win every fight and there may be times when you are on the receiving end of an attack that cost you huge amounts of life points and have to spend your drama points to stay in the fight.  And remember bad guys have drama points too.

3)The GM (That's me)makes the rulings. Most of you don't need to be told this. No rules lawyering or incessant arguing with me.  If you're the type of player who likes to send long winded, argumentative, condescending memos to the GM, you shouldn't be in this game.

4Sometimes I am going to say NO to what a player wants.  I'm not going to give a player everything they want on a silver platter every time. Again, most of you don't need to be told this.  If you expect a GM who's going to never say NO and always give you exactly what you want, you shouldn't be in this game.

And these are the house rules in effect at this time.  Will probably add more later.

*Defense -When you roll your defense, don't specify dodge or parry, just label it defense. I've merged dodge and parry together. For your defense move roll, use Dexterity plus either Kung Fu or Acrobatics or Getting Medieval, whichever is higher.

*Initiative-If I don't state who has initiative, the good guys have initiative in a fight.  They usually have it anyway to the point where stating it is almost redundant. If the bad guys have intiative, I'll make it clear.  If not stated, good guys go first.  Also, initiative will normally count for all characters on each side.  If the good guys have intiative, all good guys get to go first before the bad guys can make a move.  If the villains have initiative, they all go first before any of the good guys can make a move.  Call it the momentum advantage. There may be a few exceptions, but I'll specify as needed.

*The mechanics for a Grapple attack are now Dexterity + Kung Fu - 2
Not + 2 as listed in the book.  Other grapple rules are the same.  You can grab one limb or the body or the neck, etc.

*We'll be using the simple option for damage types.  Which means no double the damage for non-specific slash/stab or bullet attacks on any character type and fire damage heals at the normal rate. Through the heart, decapitation, etc. will still have their appropriate specials damage modifiers.

*Slash/stab attacks against vampires will be divided by five, just like with bullets, unless the slash/stab attack is a wooden stake to the heart or decapitation attack which will work normally as explained in the rules.

*Healing rate for normal humans characters will be constitution level per day.  (Core book says 1 point per day, constitution level per day if under medical care). You can still get medical care and regain life points from medical treatment.
