I was thinking about doing a subplot in which Brittany runs for class president against Malvina.

No rule that says new students can't run.

Unless one of you really wanted to do it.

Want to run against Malvina for class president?

Hopie?  Tori?  Billy?  Liam?

I don’t see Liam running.  Sounds like a great opportunity for someone to spit Malvina.

We're about to wrap up things at the Bronze and everyone should be getting ready to go home.

I suggest you all leave together and go through Sunnydale Cemetery.

If you go that way, you will encounter some vampires which will lead to our first fight scene.

Liam will be fine.  Probably.

The cemetery scenes in our series will have a lot of scope and atmosphere.

If we were an actual TV show, we would go out on location to real cemeteries to film the cemetery scenes.

Something they did during Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season One.  Then beginning with Season Two, they built a cemetery set which was used for the rest of the series.

Next time you watch a Buffy episode in Season One, pay attention to the cemetery scenes.  Then compare it to any cemetery scene in Season Two to Seven.  I'm sure you'll notice the difference.

They looked like Klingons from that show she'd never admit to watching even under torture.

Boss, may I ask a question about combat, please?

It's this.  If I make two offensive actions and want to use a drama point for the second, can I mae the drama point dependent on the success of the first action?  For example, if I want to grab hold of a vampire and then toss him, the second action can't happen unless I grapple him on the first action - so if I fail to grapple on the first action, do I still lose the drama point for the toss on the second?

When you make multiple attacks, the proper way to do it is make one roll for both attacks. The second attack would suffer the -2 penalty plus be modified if your doing a different attack for the second move (which is what your describing here).

The drama point would apply to both the first and second attacks, so you would get the +10 benefit to both moves.

The Drama Point rule section is not 100% clear on this, but I'm sure I read that's how it works somewhere else in the book, so that's how we'll handle it until further notice.

While we're on the subject of the Grapple move, make sure you read my house rule on how a grapple attack is now Dexterity plus Kung Fu - 2 and d10.  Not +2 like it says in the book.

I had a player in a previous game that used the grapple move a lot, which called to my attention to the fact that's it's way too easy to hit.  So I made it tougher.

This applies to villains too, so a vampire who wants to grapple you by the neck and then bite you will now find it harder to do.

We're just about done with episode 1.

The good guys have made it home safely.

Tomorrow I'll do a brief epilogue where we'll get a view of some of the villains and then episode 1 will be complete.

Everybody is awarded 2 drama points for your heroic acts in defeating the vampires in the cemetery fight.

Some fight commentary:

*The Multiple Opponent bonus was the White Hat's best friend.  Most of the White Hat attack and defend rolls would have been a fail in a one on one situation, but the multiple opponent bonuses I added when resolving the round made a big difference. Strength in numbers matters.

*You guys had a good night escaping the fight unscathed.  It's a rare occasion where all the good guys make it through a fight without getting hit and taking some damage.

No experience point awards.  Not yet.

I'm going to do the experience points like this; I'm planning on the season lasting 10 episodes.  When we get to the end of Episode 5 (halfway through the season), you'll all get a lump sum of experience points for episodes 1-5.

Then when we get to Episode 10 (end of the season) you'll get another lump sum of experience points to cover episodes 6-10.

But with it being 2007 and Liam being a gamer, has he played VtM, MtA or WtA?

Also does anybody (IC) remember Nancy Collins' books like Sunglasses After Dark?

wrt Billy's post.

In one game, my character built a holy-water-cannon into her Melbamobile.
In another, only yesterday, my girl Sabine used poor man's napalm to try to take out a vamp.  Then one of the vamp's minions shot her so that wasn't so good.

I had to look these up as I haven’t played them.  Vampire the Masquerade and Multi Theft Auto make sense and I can imagine decapitations in those games.  That sounds a little gory for the Womens Tennis Association.  What is your WtA reference supposed to mean?

Mage the Awakening, Werewolf the Apocalypse- games set in the same world (World of Darkness or WoD) and interplayable with that edition of Vampire.

I think in those days it was Mage the Ascension.  There was also Hunter the Reckoning, and the wonderful Orpheus which only came out weeks before the end of the old WoD and its replacement with the new. (And so I ended up buying all eight Orpheus books because otherwise I'd have no way to get them as they'd no longer be marketed and they'd never become collectors editions).
