Re: Episode 1-2

Liam rushed through dinner to the scowl of his mother. He was torn when Billy knocked on the door and dessert hadn’t one yet. It only took him a moment to sigh and let go of the dream of that little treat. There was more important business to attend to.

“May I be excused?” He quickly asked half out of his chair already. He sprinted to the front door at his father’s unspoken nod. His mother wasn’t pleased with what transpired and Liam’s dad had to weather ‘that look’. The argument about him making new friends and do they want to be parents that discourage that won out. Liam heard a “Have fun” from the dining room as he opened the front door.

“Hey Billy. Yes, I have them. They are in my room. Come on, we can pack them up and get going.” He invited Billy in, ran upstairs, emptied his backpack and started stuffing the extra costumes in. He also grabbed his duffel with his LARP gear. Then it was off to get his bike.

Billy quickly followed Liam and helped him pack, then set off alongside him. "How long have you been doing this LARP? stuff?" He asked as they biked to the meet-up.

Re: Episode 1-2

Meanwhile, at one of the side entrances to Sunnydale Cemetery:

Brittany Foster enters the cemetery, heading towards the Robinson Family Mausoleum.

She's dressed all in black, carrying her leather case which holds her bow and the wooden tipped arrows.

Brittany made it a point to get here early so she could get into her hiding spot before either Billy, Liam, and Tori or the vampires showed up.

Minutes later she found the Robinson Family Mausoleum where the meeting would take place.

Luck was with her as she found a small tree behind the mausoleum. She quickly climbed it, and was now on the roof of the mausoleum. She started unpacking her bow and arrows.

"It sure is dead quiet here. Dead quiet. I'm so funny. The calm before the storm."

On the way to the cemetery

Liam responded to Billy, "Oh, about 3 years now?" He waffled with the number and tried to remember when he actually started and then do the math. In the end, Liam just shrugged and figured that was a close enough answer.

He expanded on the topic. "We have our own Barony and one of the Knights took me on as a squire. We'll meet at the park or one of the guy's houses and do the formal Thee's and Thou's stuff. We got to do a tournament over winter break. It's fun. We could use some more members though. We aren't very big."

"We'll have to bike close and then change into our gear. I can't ride in costume."

Main Entrance to Sunnydale Cemetery

Less than a half an hour until midnight.

Liam and Billy arrive at the main entrance, stop and park their bikes, then begin getting into their costumes.

OCC: Billy and Liam can change into their costumes, before going into the cemetery to the meeting spot.

Up on the roof of the Robinson Family Mausoleum

Brittany looks at her watch. Midnight is fast approaching.

No sign of anyone else yet.

"Where the **** is Esperanza?" Brittany said thinking out loud.

She better get here soon. Brittany thought to herself. Maybe she switched to a different hiding spot. That's fine. The roof is my hiding spot! My idea! Get your own! Should have brought that up before.

Brittany looked at her watch again. Who would show first? The vampires? Or Billy, Liam, and Tori?

Billy recommended changing then waiting until after the vampires had gone in. "It seems more plausible and distracting to be walking by, rather than let them approach us and decide if they want to go for an ambush." He commented.

Re: Episode 1-2

“Brittany wanted us to arrive at midnight. Tactically that is a terrible idea. It gives the others about three hours to find and deal with them before we show up. For her plan to work, we need to get lucky.” He didn’t like it. Too many things could go wrong with so many unknowns. But she was a strong willed girl and in Liam’s experience, they never listen. So they got what they got and would have to hope for the best. He still secretly hoped this was some sort of test.

“Where’s Tori?” He didn’t know if it was better if she showed up or stayed home. If she stayed at home, at least she would be safe.

Liam now decked out in his LARP gear looked like someone attempting to look like a knight. The padding and leather armor could reasonably be assumed to be chainmail due to the fabric color and material. He even had a leather cap that looked metallic and had one of those nose guards on it. The real sword was strapped to his waist. He had a LARP dueling sword in hand complete with obvious padding. A stake was sheathed at his waist opposite the sword like a dagger.

(I’m fine waiting until midnight.)

Billy poked hesitantly through the rest of the "LARP" gear. "Which pieces are supposed to be my costume?" He asked dubiously.

He thought for a moment. "You have a fair point about the timing. Maybe we should head in sooner rather than later. Not sure about Tori, though. Hope she's alright."

"Aw, someone looking for me?" said Tori as she turned the corner.

Her sword was scabbarded in the remains of a backpack and slipped down the back of her black sweater. She drew it out.

"It was so uncomfortable cycling like that. Do you have the disguise I'm supposed to wear?"

Re: Episode 1-2

“Oh yeah. I got some things that go with a theme of ‘battle wizard.’ Some robe-like flowy garb with a bit armor here and there. It’s not historically accurate by any means, but it’s what I could pull together. You can hide stuff in the sleeves and the split legs kind of look like robes when you stand still.” Liam didn’t mention his mom wore it the one event she went to. Billy might object thinking it was a girl only piece of clothing.

When he heard Tori’s voice, he turned to watch her. Liam fanboyed for a moment as he stared. She was so cute! The next moment the dread hit at the realization what they were going to walk into. She would have been safer at home. He shook himself out of that line of thinking and pulled out the monk robes.

Classic brown Benedictine monk with a hood. At least it was a more comfortable fabric than burlap. She could pull the hood low and hide her face. “Here you go. I hope it’s not too long.

Once they were dressed, “Ok. I think we are ready.”

Moments later, the three teens in costume head towards the Robinson Family Mausoleum.

The walk takes several minutes since Sunnydale Cemetery is quite large. They encounter no vampires or anyone else along the way.

They approach the front of the mausoleum. No vampires are waiting for them. Yet.

It's now five minutes until midnight.

From her hiding spot on the roof, Brittany could see the trio approach.

Oh my God! They like they're ready to do a photo shoot for Losers R Us! Brittany thought to herself. She was more grateful than ever she avoided being part of that group.

Still no sign Esperanza. The trio needed to know that. But she couldn't reveal her position, vampires could be watching from a distance.

She had Billy's cell number. She pulls out her cell phone and starts typing a text to him.

I hidng on roof. No sign of Slyr

Then she hits send to Billy.

Tori looked at the monk's robe dubiously, then pulled it on, wearing her sword on top. It was a little long on her, the hem brushing the ground.

"Fits like a... dress."

She flashed Liam a smile, then pulled the hood over her head.

Re: Episode 1-2

Billy put on his "battle wizard" garb. "If my little experiment works, this outfit might be amazingly proper - I might end up burning them with a flash of light." He commented.

He fiddled around with the robe for a few moments before finding the pockets in the sleeves. He strapped his shield to his left arm, and sheathed his sword in the belt below that arm - planning for a cross-draw. He put the camera and his phone in the pockets, before shifting to have the camera in his left hand and leaving the phone in the pocket.

Once they'd entered the graveyard, when light started shining through his sleeve and his arm started buzzing, he pulled his phone out. "Brittany's on the... in position." He amended quickly. "No word on the ... other member of our party ..." He trailed off.

“You look good.” Liam replied to Tori. He had meant for the character she was supposed to be, but realized it could be taken another way. He turned away quickly.

Billy looked alright as well. It was coming together pretty good. “Ok. We have a Knight, a Wizard, an Acolyte and a Sneak. That covers a traditional core group. Let’s hope it works out.”

Liam would have preferred to arrive right at midnight. Something about it just would have fit better. He shuffled his feet a bit at being early. Hopie would be around. It all fell on her anyway. She probably killed half the vampires by now to get started. That would be good.

Re: Episode 1-2

The trio gets closer to the front of the mausoleum.

They are now about ten yards away.

Then two figures appear, walking around from the back of the mausoleum. One male, dark hair, average height, about twenty-something. And human apparently. No vamp face. And one female, blonde hair, also average height, about twenty-something and also apparently human. No vamp face.

Both walk to the front of the mausoleum and stand there as if they are waiting for someone.

Their backs are to Brittany and they are facing the trio, looking at them about ten yards away. The duo say nothing. They are looking at the trio curiously as if they don't know what to make of them.

Liam waved with his free hand. His fake LARP sword was obviously padded, and he rested the tip on the ground. "Hi. We are the Knights of Pelor. We got your message. I think it's really cool there's another group in town. So, how formal are you guys? Do you stay in character the entire time?"

The two people in front of the mausoleum glance at each other for a moment, then the blonde girl shouts back to Liam"

"Come closer and we'll tell you!"

Just then a third person walks from behind the mausoleum.

"Wait up guys. I'm carrying the luggage."

He also appears to be human, dark hair, and twenty-somehthing.

And he's also carrying Edward Hudson over his shoulder. He drops Edward to the ground like a sack of potatoes. And stands next to the other two. Edward is unconcious, tied up, and gagged. He'll be no help.

The guy who just dropped Edward points to the trio. "Are they the guys we're supposed to meet or a Dungeons and Dragons group who got lost on the way home?"

In reply to Liam Roeker (msg # 237):

The robes were baggy, shapeless, and all-concealing. Was Liam being sarcastic? Or just making a joke? Tori decided on the latter.

"Ha-ha. I'm wearing a brown sack," she muttered.

Tori became serious when the strangers appeared. Time to get into her role as distraction. Which sounded much better than 'bait'. Hopie had better be around somewhere, or this was going to go bad very fast. She stepped forward

"Ooh, that's very lifelike," she said, gesturing towards the unconscious Edward. Keeping them puzzled and confused seemed like the best plan for now.

The three strangers standing in front of the mausoleum, stare at each other for a moment.

Then the blonde girl speaks to the trio of White Hats;

"Isn't it? We're doing a mock murder mystery"

She points at the unconcious Edward. "Why don't you three come over and examine the body and see if you can tell us how he died."

"Whoah!" Said Billy, surprised that the vamps were even playing along. "Did you make that?" He asked the vampire that had been carrying the 'body'.

Over his shoulder, he asked the group, "I know we're not supposed to use modern technology in costume, but anyone mind if I take your picture and post this on my website to give you credit?"

Billy withdrew the camera from his pocket and - if no one objected - "snapped a pic" of the vampire next to the librarian's body.

"What? You know Dungeons and Dragons? Do you play?" There were so few people that understood the game and actually played it that he felt he needed to follow up on that small lead.

When Billy offered to take a picture, Liam had no objections. He nodded in agreement.

"Ooh, can we?"

Tori took advantage of the blonde girl's request to move closer to the 'fake' body. She doubted she could draw her sword in a hurry, not in those robes, but she was confident she could manage a kick if things turned nasty.

Who was she kidding? Things were bound to turn nasty.

"Sure kid, why not?" said the stranger who dropped "the body", accepting Billy's photo request.

Billy stepped closer to the stranger since this model of camera could only be used up close.

Billy clicked the shutter button.

The flash went off brighly.

"AARRGGHHH!!!!!" shouted the stranger in excrutiating pain as he covered his face with his hands. You can see smoke coming from his flesh.

When he removed his hands from his face, you could see the burn marks. He quickly morphed into vamp face as did his two companions, probably surprising no one as to their true nature.

"What the **** was that?1 I'll kill you! I'll kill you!"
the wounded vampire shouted at Billy.
