Re: Episode 1-2

Brittany rolls her eyes.

"Ambushing them is better than fighting them toe to toe Liam, especially when you're a frail human who isn't a slayer."

Brittany looks at Billy.  "Come on Billy, I'll show you the weapons room.  And I want to see your gadget."

Brittany shows Billy the wooden tipped arrows she grabbed earlier.  "I've got a bow at home, I'll bring it tonight."

Re: Episode 1-2

“Attack the LAR… what?  Wait.” He always did have a hard time talking to girls.  He was going to have to try and rephrase his idea.

Liam furled his brow, took a breath and replied to Esperanza.  “We are just a distraction.  If we put a hooded robe on Tori, maybe they will think she is the Slayer.  You are offense.  You need to quietly kill as many real vampires as you can before they figure it out. Get any stragglers or guards not part of the main group.  If Mr. Hudson is tied up, free him and get him a weapon.  If he’s hurt, you’d have to protect him.  If we are outnumbered, we might need to get Mr. Hudson and run.  We will try to get information, stay together and stay alive.”

“I… yes, but…what I meant…”  He stuttered trying to form a reply, then Brittany was gone.  She was right in a sense.  He also knew that a wizard or archer that gets into melee dies.  It happens in all the games.  He was hoping Hopie could kill anything that might circle around or come up on Brittany.  If she wasn’t harassed, stake arrows would really come in handy.

In reply to Liam Roeker (msg # 195):

"Don't worry Liam", says Hopie.  "I won't be far away and attack doesn't mean a physical attack, it just means putting their game faces on so we can watch them turn to dust.  If and when we get back Mr Hudson, we're going to work on ever better plans and the vampires won't be sleeping easy in their coffins.  You lot will be getting better and better."

Tori exchanged her stick for a sword, and looked even more doubtful.

"The closest I get to weapons is tennis. Not much like sword-fighting. Still, if we're just a distraction..."

Re: Episode 1-2

Liam laid out a crude map on the table.  He indicated North and the entrances to the cemetery.  He put down a pencil where he thought he remembered the crypt to be.  “Possible hiding spots with a good view might be here and here.  We can walk up the path which would come like this.”  He pointed out what he knew.

The whole thing wasn’t up to his standards.  He really wanted to bring in figurines and props to lay it out properly.  This would have to do for now.

"Where would the best place be for an ambush of we were the ones waiting in the graves?" asked Hopie, asking Liam to consider the enemy point of view, something she learned from numerous Westerns and Zorro movies (and fotonovelas).

Billy took a second stake, a sword, and if he could find it, a shield.  "I'll be happy to help out with the decoying."  He provided simply.  "I need to get up close and personal to run my experiment, anyways."

"It's settled then.  Hopie and I will show up early and get into ambush position.  You three will show up at midnight with Tori in disguise and fake them out into thiking she's the Slayer."

Brittany stares a Liam's map.  "I think I'll find a tree to climb.  Or if there's a tree close to the mausoleum, I'll climb up to the roof.  With my bow and arrows, I'll be like the SWAT team sharpshooter covering you from the high ground."

Hopie nods. "I plan to be on the roof anyway.  These crossbows don't have a long range and I need to be close when I jump down to join the fracas."

Billy finds no shield in the weapons cabinet, so he's got a sword and an extra stake.

OCC:Is Liam going to take anything from the weapons cabinet?  I don't think he's chosen anything (unless I missed it.)

OOC, just to confirm, Hopie has gathered one more stake, two pistol style crossbows and a sword but once others have chosen, she'll take two more pistol style crossbows and two bolts for each, a total of eight bolts.  She doesn't expect to get an opportunity to reload but one never knows.

Re: Episode 1-2

(I guess I didn't post it.  I thought I mentioned taking a sword.)

Liam stuck a spare stake in his sock and took a sword.  He stared at it like it was Excalibur itself.  A real sword...  This was truly a momentous moment for him.

He snapped out of it at Hopie's question.  "Why would we be in the gr... oh.  Think like the villian.  Like a one off game session?  Got it!  Let's see...  I would have a hoard of human minions I dangled immortality to, so they would work for me.  Too many vampires and the food supply might dry up.  I would send people to watch each of us at their homes as soon as it was dark.  Around 6pm.  Then arrange to remove those trying to help the Slayer.  Kidnap a small sibling.  Kill the dog.  Scare mom so she has to go to the hospital.  Any sort of emergency to tie us up so we can't help.  I would have already killed the Watcher.  Way too many things could go wrong if he was still alive.  Then bring all the troops to the cemetery before midnight to encircle and ambush you once you showed.  Take out the Slayer with sheer numbers to rule the town unopposed.  End of session."  Liam hoped that helped somehow.

Hopie gulped.  "I was thinking of places to ambush but you're right, they must have human minions of some kind otherwise how could they take the Watcher in the daytime.  So my next question is, how do we deal with that because my thought in answer to that is taken straight out of the works of Che Guevara we're into the territory of guerilla warfare.  Best not to go home apart from Brittany then. But for the rest of us, maybe we should go with Brittany and see if we can spot whoever is watching her house?"

Brittany rolls her eyes and sighs loudly.

"You guys are way overthinking this. None of us saw a vampire before last night.  Hopie's been the slayer for two days.  There was probably a fourth vamp who showed up late last night that was hiding behind a tombstone, saw the fight, went back to his vamp gang, and they cooked up this plan on the spot.  And nobody's watching my house.  We have a neighborhood watch group. If somebody was spying on me, I'd know it."

Before anyone can respond, you here a loud banging at the library entrance and the sound of a trash can falling over and landing with a loud thud.

Then an angry voice shouts:

"Who blocked the doorway?!  What's going on in here?!"

Brittany stepped from around the corner and answered the janitor.

"I blocked the door.  Sorry!  I'm new here.  Guess I should have put the do not disturb sign on the door.  We're here for our private club meeting that Mr. Hudson the librarian runs.  We haven't seen him.  Guess he went home early or something." Brittany said with her most winning smile hoping the janitor would buy it.

The janitor's face relaxed, seemingly buying Brittany's story.

"Well, if there's no librarian here, you kids should leave and go home."

The janitor began his cleaning routine in slow and methodical fashion, indicating he wasn't going anywhere any time soon.

"Okay guys, you heard the janitor.  Let's grab our fake medieval weapons and go.  The medieval history club isn't meeting today!" Brittany shouted to everybody as she grabbed her arrow stack she had hidden behind a library shelf.

Come on people, let's not press our luck. And let's hope the janitor doesn't pay close attention to our weapons. Brittany thought to herself as she headed to the library door.

“She asked.”  Liam replied while pointing at Esperanza.  If they didn’t want to hear how he would have played it, why ask him?

Liam felt like they had done something wrong with the waste basket blocking the the door.  He was amazed the janitor was good with Brittany’s explanation.  Then again, if he had been the janitor he would have bought it as well right up to the point until he saw the weapons.  He guessed they were lucky the janitor didn’t know about medieval arms.

“That stinks.”  He remarked at her explanation of no club and headed out.

Re: Episode 1-2

Brittany arrived home and opened the front door to a quiet house.  Neither of her parents were home from work yet.

She yawned loudly.  After a bad night of sleep, now she had a late night on her agenda.

She went upstairs to her bedroom and pulled out a long leather case from her closet.

Placing the case on her bed, she unzipped it, revealing her bow and arrow set.  She lifted the bow out and pulled back on the string.  "God only knows the last time I used this thing.  I'd better shoot straight tonight or it could be the end of us all." she said thinking out loud.

Brittany then removed her metal tips arrows from the case and replaced them with the wooden tipped arrows she obtained earlier, then zipped up the case.

After putting the case back in the closet, she pulled her shoes off then laid down on her bed, trying to catch a quick nap.

Hopie didn't go all the way home.  Instead she stopped off at her Tio Juliano and Tia Marcella's where she enjoyed a light meal before heading out again armed with two loaded pistol grip crossbows, three spare bolts for each crossbow, three spikes and the biggest sword she could find.

By five thirty, she was outside again.

“Liam, what are you doing?”  His mom called up the pull down ladder to the attic.

“LARPing.  I need some extra costumes.”  He loudly replied so she could hear him.

“Don’t Harry and Jimmy have their own?”

“Not for them.  New members!”

“Oh dear God.  There’s more of them?” Liam’s mom quietly muttered.  “Hurry up.  Dinner is almost ready.  Close the stairs up when you are done.”

“Ok!”  The faint reply came back.  Liam gave up his digging.  He had enough items.  He was looking for that princess dress he thought Tori might like instead.  His sister must have it.  Oh well, the monk robe would cover her face and that was probably the better option anyway.  He bundled the clothes, dropped them off in his room and headed down to dinner.

Re: Episode 1-2

Billy didn't actually go home after the library, but instead took a slow and meandering route to head toward Liam's.  It'd be much easier to keep his sister in the dark if he didn't keep popping in and out of the house... and he expected that his mother at least would notice the live edge on the sword he had strapped under the shield on his back.

When he eventually arrived at Liam's he knocked on the door.  "Liam, you got those costumes?"  He called.
