Re: Changing Masks from Creamy to Chunky
Re: team and rolls. I appreciate that one shouldn't get too caught up in them. Still, I would like to ask more questions about the White Queen if possible, so maybe we could add a team point assist and more questions from my move retroactively? They do seem pertinent in this case. I could just make my guesses of course, but I wouldn't mind knowing something "officially" to smoothen the path. :P

Also, where was Bluebird during all of this? I guess she was in the restaurant but only emerged now?

...more pertinently, is it supposed to be Invisible Girl/Woman saying:
"So we have learned that is better to recruit from the Stanley School and others rather than train for ourselves.  So I ask you to join us and live beyond the rules of others."?

I think the boss needs to read over that post and adjust the colors a li'l.

Hopefully Rico doesn't need to make any rolls for that speech, because the only possible stats that could be used for it are terrible. :P

Very busy, unfortunately. Also, to be honest, I do not like to have to "assume" things. It does seem overwhelmingly likely that the colour of that line of dialogue was wrong, but I'd rather it was confirmed before I replied, given how important it is. Either way, it leaves the question of what Sue Storm is doing here...

Hey, folks, I will be busy for tonight and maybe a day or two beyond that.  I will try and fix whatever mistakes I made then.  I appreciate y'all's patience. :-)

Quickly, it was Emma Frost who (telepathically) said, "So we have learned that is better to recruit from the Stanley School and others rather than train for ourselves.  So I ask you to join us and live beyond the rules of others."?

That was completely my error and I will fix it when I can.  My apologies again.

Re: Changing Masks from Creamy to Chunky
Team,

I'm pausing this game for the indefinite future.  I wish it wasn't so.  :-(

You have probably noticed the trend towards ever-increasing delays in my replies.  Unexpectedly busy for a few days has become likely busy for the next few weeks and is trending towards definitely busy for the next few months.  As I foresee it, soon it will be two weeks or more between my replies if things continue as they are (and they likely will).   I don't believe a game can keep interest with such a long delay between replies. My posting has certainly suffered.  And it is certainly not fair to y'all.

In real-life, I look after an aging parent with complicated health issues and sell on eBay (one of the few options for those who can't keep to regular hours).  My schedule is unpredictable.  Some days are remarkably free and others terribly busy.  But when I started the game, it seemed the average of my free time would allow for a slow, but still workable, game.  Lately my mother's health has become more complicated, not worse (thank God) but more complicated.  And my sister will not be able to help as I thought that she might, physically or financially.  Thus, I have to increase my time commitment to eBay.  The busy holiday season and various other temporal bugaboos aren't helping.

I had thought the latest delays were a temporary thing but I can now see that my average free time will diminish considerably for the foreseeable future.  And that's not fair to you.  So I am pausing, not ending, the game indefinitely.  When we start again, I hope to pick up where we are leaving off.

RPoL can be an overly persistent reminder of sleeping games, one of the board's many peculiarities.  So I understand if some players would like to be (temporarily I hope) removed from the game and then reinstated later.

I will try and put the game to better rest in the next few days/weeks and leave it at a better stopping point.

I really appreciate y'all and your much-tested patience.  :-)

Re: Changing Masks from Creamy to Chunky
It's alright, Watcher. Real life's responsibilities, especially to your loved ones, is a much higher priority. We aren't here to stress you out worrying about us, and you know at least some of us who will stick around for as long as need be for you to have the time to come back ready to go.

You won't need to remove anyone who expects to return. They could just remove the game from their stickies list and let it pop back on when there's activity again. Or just leave it there, like I'll be doing. There's no benefit to being taken out of the game only to come back later on, and doing so means you'll lose all your Bio, Sheet, and Description stuff.

I hope things go smoothly and easily for you and your family.

Re: Changing Masks from Creamy to Chunky
Sadly, I myself have been far busier than I had hoped, due to a combination of work and real life issues of my own (first the loss of a close relative, then nursing a family pet back to health - luckily the latter is going amazingly and surprisingly well by this point, but it was really touch and go earlier). Pretty much everyone here has had some problems along those very general lines (though I should hope the real life stuff is far less dire for the rest of you). So while it's unfortunate, it's also very understandable and surely for the best to put the game on pause given those delays. That said, I sincerely hope that we will get to play this game again when we're all in a better state for it. :) And yes - your own life comes first, and I wish you the very best in it.

Re: Changing Masks from Creamy to Chunky
You guys are the best! ((Hugs!))

We actually may have a new player who 'joined' unofficially just as I had to pause this game.  They have a truly wicked character conception that is not up to me to share but would be a welcome addition to any team.

There may yet be another player after that.  It stung having to welcome them only to then pause the game.  I encourage them to say Howdy here in OOC should they wish.

I also encourage anyone to use whatever I have individually created for this game, in this game or somewhere else.

Although I may have fumbled the startup to the game, there are plenty of Marvel Masks games out there.  It is very easy to start a Masks game and the Marvel Universe is the still the largest shared universe out there to draw from.  I'm sure your characters can still be used in another game as well as this one.

That said, we are a patient lot.  It takes about a year between Marvel movies.  We aren't doing so bad compared to that. :-)

Re: Changing Masks from Creamy to Chunky
Dawn came much too early this morning. There was just something about the dark that Rovina liked more than the glaring sun. It was isolation. The acceptance of the open, waiting arms of darkness and the cold envelopment of death's shroud. Yes, dawn came much too early this morning.

Rovina took her first tenuous steps into the classroom, her books cradled in front of her for protection. She looked around haphazardly, her teeth almost biting through her tongue in tension. A new dawn, a new chance to start over. That's what Father Stone kept repeating, droning over and over with his reassuring smile. She shivered, and a small gust of wind blew the lower strands of her hair.

Stop it, she said to herself. The ghostly manifestations around her were just as anxious as she was. Rovina found a desk and tried to look small.

Yes, a new dawn. A new future. Great, Rovina mused. And wished for nothing more than her solitary bed with the blankets drawn tightly over her, in darkness.

Just wanted to say HI and break in with a small piece of writing inviting you into the thoughts of Rovina's character, my writing style, and invite you in taking a look at her character sheet and background when you have the chance. Even though we will be on a hiatus for a while, I wanted to at least let you know a bit about the character. Happy to be a part of the story and wishing everyone the very best.

Re: Changing Masks from Creamy to Chunky
Hi Coffyn! Welcome to the team! Just because the GM needs to take a break doesn't mean we have to, though. :D Introductions!

I'm Ricochet, a mutant experimented on to gain the power to absorb and redirect kinetic energy. Former child star turned PTSD-laden teen hero, she strives to be a wall between danger and other people because she's decided she's invincible and thus expendable.

The emo kid over there is my alt, Mania. She's the new version of Venom, protege to Flash Thompson. She's an angry little ball of vengeance against the criminal underworld that killed her father purely as psychological torture for Flash, and she also happens to actually enjoy her symbiote. The pair are unusually closely bonded, and she refers to herself as "I" rather than "we".

My other alt is the scrawny nerdboi in the lab, Octopus. He's a young prodigy in nuclear physics and engineering, and constructed a set of "octopus" arms to help him handle a superhot fusion reaction he attempted to show off to the city. It, uh. It didn't go well. Now he's fused to the arms. Rather than the arms convincing him to go on a rampage finishing his experiment and destroying New York, Otto's decided to become a superhero and protect innocent people from science gone wrong.

Re: Changing Masks from Creamy to Chunky
You are so correct. Introductions it is, and possibly more!

Looking small in the desk didn't help at all. With a whirlwind of emotion, she soon became bombarded by a literal ricochet of introductions, from a (from Rovina's point of view) energetic girl who seemed to point this way and that. Rovina took it all in and as anyone would in an awkward situation made the worst introduction for herself.

"Uhm...Hi..." Rovina sat uncomfortably in her chair looking back and forth at all the new alts, as Ricochet described them. She then finally focused back on Ricochet. "I'm uhm...into ghosts."

Thanks for the introduction, Ricochet! You're the best!

I knew I would be too busy to maintain the game but I had no idea just how busy busy was.  My usual apologies for taking so long to reply.

I hope to post with a bit more substance in a few days. :-)

Re: Changing Masks from Creamy to Chunky
Excelsior!

Hello all! I have been in contact with The Watcher and was given his blessing to add a post to the thread: The Mother of Invention. Thread #3.

This post is twofold. One, it allows me to "get into the game" and I have posted in a way that did not interfere with any of the other posts in that thread. Two, with the blessing of the GM, I have included an invitation to participate in further dialogue within that post. Coffyn has asked Jubilee and all the other participants to join in the video fun in the Danger Room. This is where the thread left off and was never continued.

This was done for the benefit of those who want to write and post a few more times while the GM is taking a hiatus. This is not mandatory, only provided for the above reason, and for me to develop my character, as well as developing any other characters and relationships as well. The game allows for Influence and rolls to adjust our Labels up and down as we "socialize" and interact, but since the GM is not around for a bit, I think our Labels should stay the same. Although, I would love to give Influence to those who want to participate in the fun with Coffyn. She needs help, she needs friends. This would and could be marked down on your character sheets.

I am not going to post anything in thread #4, for anything I post would interfere in the grand scheme of things. I will say, Coffyn went off campus to her Sanctuary to ponder and to practice.

Thanks all, and thanks to The Watcher for allowing me and us to do this.
