Ganyar

In the town of Ganyar the market is crowded with people selling food and other items. A switchback leads down to the docks, the royal road leads to the palace and other small tracks lead to surrounding kampung.

Just outside the market square is a large compound with a number of foreign looking buildings within its walls, the wooden gates opened out onto the streets as a young woman ( Hanako ) stepped out.

In one of the inner alleys of the town with a plain wooden door, on the steps leading up to the door a large black civet curls up watching passersby intently with its dark eyes. Made approached the building with forboding.

The Docks

The fishing boat moved slowly over the almost still waters, the lookout at the bow had found no sign of pirates or fish for almost three days.

The other passengers were; a merchant who dressed well but careful eyes noted his clothing was a year or so out of date for the larger courts and had a number of less than perfect repairs, an elderly couple carrying a small ceramic urn with them and an older man with a badly scarred face and a missing arm who wore a rough cotton sarong and a panabas slung on his back.

It had been three weeks of island hopping so far and honestly Datuk Tan Cheng Leng was getting a little tired of the sea.

The boy at the bow called out that they were nearing Nusa Kutam....

Hearing the news that they are nearing land, Datuk gathered his gear and stood up. Over the course of the journey, he had time to reflect over his hasty decision. Perhaps, he thought he was being too impulsive. However, his innate khitanese pride meant he will only return to his home when he achieve fame. With grim resolute, he looks at his heirloom weapon and mouthed a prayer to his parent, promising them he will bring glory to his ancestors. When the ship docks, he departs, looking at the surroundings.

Hananko regards the sky a moment as she tucks a shopping list in her vermilion cotton robe's sleeve, along with a sealed packet, and a small rectangular item strung with beads, then turns in the direction of the docks, pausing only to hire a study boy to carry her basket.

[OOC]Hanako intends to deliver/check at the godown for messages, as is her usual task in the morning. What fee is appropriate for hiring a bearer?[/OOC]
