Faith of Everden

'These stone circles weren't built by chance, These doorways to the Wyld will open if you dare.'

The Wyld

The pure force that sustains and drives life in Everden is named the Wyld. It cannot be described as kind, or gentle, but all but the most depraved pay it a measure of respect and beg it for succor. Most magic flows from channeling the Wyld. Druids are its agents. Wizards seek to impose order on this restless, shifting power though rules and theorems. Clerics and warlocks invoke it second hand through their masters, and Sorcerers boast a great kernel of the Wyld within themselves.

The Rot

Creeping at the edges of the Wyld's influence is the Rot. It is a whispering, seductive poison guided by an eldtritch being named the Wyrm that seeks to pervert the fruits of the Wyld. It's worst agents, banes, are beings born of hate and anguish and sow chaos where they appear. Dabbling in the powers offered by the rot is a guilty pastime of the desperate or ambitious.

The Amaranthine are the gods of Everden. They are entrusted with maintaining the Wyld. Unlike gods in other settings, the Amaranthine rarely squabble with one another, for any strife between the Amaranthine threatens to play into Wyrm's hand. The Amaranthine tend to keep to themselves, and rarely meddle in each other’s affairs. Though each Amaranthine is a powerful being in their own right, holding a great degree of autonomy over their dominion, each understands that they are but a small part of a greater whole.
