We can RP this out; cold call approaching people in the Keep is not the best way.  He can put an ad up in The Green Man and/or the Guild House and interested people will come.  The Innkeeper, Wilf, will charge a fee of 1 sp per week to put a sign up by the entrance.

Yes Gyp will pay Wilf to put up a notice and he'll entertain the folk there to make a name for himself and get the word out that he's hiring.

What sort of job is the notice advertising?  It will impact the type of people who respond.

Gyp will advertise for both torchbearers and men-at-arms.

What gear is available, and at what price?

Falco will ask around the Keep about any rumors regarding the goblins, hobgoblins, and bugbears, orcs, or anything related to the Caves of Chaos. Additionally, he ask around the Keep about any rumors related to the area surrounding the keep. He'll also ask around about any odd jobs or the like.

I'll call it three days in total.  You can stay in The Green Man in for 1 gp a day and that includes a simple breakfast and a simple diner.  You can supplement your meals from the price list for the One Eyed Cat Tavern.  Info on both is in the Notes on the Keep and Surroundings thread.
