Hammer and Tongs

The Hammer and Tongs is run by Ghor, from the scars and grip on the hammer he uses to beat steal into weapons, it is clear he was a warrior in his former career.

On racks in the corner of the sort are an assortment of weapons and shields.  In front of them are two dummies splint mail.

The following weapons and armour are available at the standard cost from the players hand book.

3 Long swords
10 Spears
1 Mace
1 Great axe
1 Warhammer
3 Light crossbow
1 Heavy crossbow
2 Wooden shield
3 Sets of splint mail

Hammer and Tongs

The morning after their return to the Keep, Zenphar will find any of his companions that are up and will carry the weapons and armour taken from the bandits camp and visit the shops in the Keep looking to sell them.

At the Hammer and Tongs, the longbows, longswords, shortswords, and shields are sold to Ghor.

Ukhtusk bought the greataxe, selling his longsword and shield.

He pointed at the biggest set of splint mail. "I give all money I have now, go kill more, come back with more gold, yes?"

OOC:
Greataxe: 30 gp
Longsword: - 7.5 gp
Shield: - 5 gp
Total 17.5 gp

Ukhtusk's purse: 50gp after above transaction. Will trade in chainmail (37.5gp) when purchase splint.

11:50, Today: Ukhtusk rolled 13 using 1d20.  Persuasion - Ghor.

"Yes, come back with more gold and the armour is yours."  The grizzled smith replied to Ukhtusk.

Hammer and Tongs

Tegan helped Zenphar carry the equipment that the band of adventurers had looted liberated from the bandits over to the smithy and shop run by Ghor. Just walking in reminded the young paladin of his childhood -- he had spent his formative years working alongside his father in just such a setting.

He stood in the doorway to the shop, his arms crossed across his chest, and waited while the Elf and the Half-Orc conducted their business. After a short while he ambled over to the three sets of splint mail that were on display. Ukhtusk had already chosen a set for himself, and Tegan eyed the two that were left. "This is good workmanship," he said over his shoulder to Ghor. "Did you forge and craft this armor yourself?"

Tegan found a set that looked like it would fit him well, with few adjustments needed. "I want this set," he said to Ghor. He took a moment to slip out of the chain mail that he was wearing, and set it down on the counter. "Half-value for this on a trade-in, I assume," he remarked. The paladin well knew that was the standard arrangement, and he was not inclined to haggle with a smith who was as accomplished in his craft as Ghor seemed to be.

"This chain mail should clean up nicely. I have just come in out of the field, and have not yet had a chance to clean it and polish it up. You will find it well-crafted, with no broken or missing rings."

Next, Tegan slipped his pack from his back and pulled out a small bag that clinked loudly when he set it down on the counter. He then counted out the difference between the trade-in value of his chain mail and the cost of the splint mail, and arranged the coins in neat stacks on the counter-top.

"There you go," he told Ghor. Gesturing to the splint mail that he had chosen, he asked "Can I wear this out of here? I'll be sure to tell anyone who asks where I got it." He knew that smiths counted on word of mouth from satisfied customers to generate new business.

OOC: I am assuming the standard trade-in value of Tegan's chain mail (37 Golden Lions, 5 Silver Falcons). He will pay the difference from the bag containing 200 Golders that Gaulmod tossed to him.

Ghor looked up at Tegan and smiled.  The smile revealed a missing tooth, and from the scar on his lip near by it was clear he lost it in battle.  "Aye, I crafted everything you see here myself."   He said walking over to the gear dropped by Tegan and Zenphar.
"This seams like a good trade, and you may wear it out of here if you like.  Your friends will help you don it I assume."

Hammer and Tongs

After finishing his business with Ghor, Tegan stepped out of the smith's shop. He was pleased with his purchase -- and a little surprised to find a man who had as much skill crafting weapons and armor as Ghor apparently did -- residing in such an out-of-the-way place as this keep.

~~Well, I should count myself lucky and give all appropriate thanks to Tymora, the Luck-Maiden,~~ he thought to himself.

He tried a few fighting moves, and found that his new armor fit him well. It did not bind him too tightly so as to limit his movement, and although he judged it as heavy as his chain mail had been in raw weight, it did not seem to sit as heavily on his shoulders as hie older mail had -- not that a man of his strength had been overly bothered by such a thing.

Tegan glanced about, looking to see if he could glimpse any of his companions moving about the interior grounds of the keep.

~~If not, no harm done,~~ he thought. ~~I have but to wait for them in the local tavern -- not a bothersome task, by any means -- and I have little doubt that all will show up there, eventually.~~
