Being the Second thread of Clues ~

~ *** ~

The Situation as it Stands:

  • The remains of Polly Durbin were never located, but it is at present generally believed in the village that she was somehow lured away and murdered by Edmond Fox, currently resident in a largely discorporated state in the ditch behind the vicarage garden.
  • Scorch Norton has suffered something of a plague of bad dreams from the third night of this revenant's binding onward.
  • Despite this, the guests for the Fox wedding arrived a few days ago, attended a blessing in lieu of the ceremony itself and generally made merry up at the Hall, passing on a certain air of festival (and plenty of leftovers and small gifts) to the village. Those without urgent buisness are likely to stay around for a couple of weeks.
  • The night of the 14th (that of the new moon) seems to have been one of unusual nocturnal activity.
  • During the said night, the Squire appears to have suddenly taken ill.

Items of Possible Pertinence:

  • People are not all having the same nightmare, but common themes of smothered sight, internal heat, anxiety about the ground and being hunted or hiding from something seem spread throughout the village. It's unclear if the Hall guests are affected yet.
  • Goodie Westcott is relatively comfortably incarcerated in Taunton.
  • Kit Meaker seems to have suffered a kind of burn injury from whatever happened after the incident at the inn and is chafing at limited duties.
  • The front lawn of fox Hall seems to have gained its own hare as a regular visitor - apparently a doe according to Mr. Rickert the head keeper, though it's been seen boxing other does and having brief chases and fur-flying fights with them before streaking off into the shrubberies.
