Gameplay Conventions 01: Use of OOC and dialogue tags

POSTING AS YOUR CHARACTER
~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~

Posting as your character is pretty much the same as posting in the OOC thread, except you now take note of the following:

 A) When posting as your character, you must write the post from the in-character, in-game perspective of your character.

WRONG example: "I take out my revolver and fire at the approaching giant crab."

GOOD example: "Jessie draws her revolver and starts firing at the giant crab."

BETTER example: "Sweating profusely, and with her heart thump-thumping in her throat, Jessie slips her revolver from its holster, fans the hammer back with her one hand, and starts rapid-firing at the enormous crab scuttling towards them from within the ruined building."

 B) If you need to say something OOC at the end of your post to explain something to the GM, you use Red text and the following format:

"Jessie draws her revolver and starts firing at the giant crab."

OOC: I have 5 rounds in the revolver, so I will fire all 5 of them as fast as I can. After that, I will run back towards the entrance of the building. I rolled 7, 8, 5, 2, 4 for 5 rounds of combat/shooting.

All OOC text must be made in RED, to alert other players and the GM to the fact that this is OOC information. To make a piece of text red, select the relevant section you want in red, then click on the bottom-right dropdown menu (below your post) that says "styled text:" by default, followed by selecting the colour Red. This will add two HTML tags around the section of text (words that are between <> or </>), and everything between those tags will now be Red. Using other text formats like bold or italics or underlining functions exactly the same. This might be tricky to do from a mobile, so I recommend doing this from a desktop (or memorising the tags and inserting them manually).

 C) In order to make your character's speech easier to spot and read, you are encouraged to use a specific text colour around your text (the same way you make your OOC writing RED):

Example:

~-~-~
Jessie looked down at the dead crab, and gently nudged the one rough leg with the tip of her boot.
"What manner of devilry is this thing?" Her revolver was hot and heavy in her still-shaking hands. "Has anyone ever seen anything like this before? This... this cannot be natural!"
Stepping back, the gunslinger turned and quickly trotted away from the still-oozing mound of carapace and blackened craters that were all that remained of the beast.

Each character will get assigned their own speech colour as they sign up. The aim here is two-fold: it makes your character's speech easier to pick out when you post your updates - as well as making dialogue between characters easier to follow when the GM makes a post that involves multiple characters talking at once (especially NPC dialogue)

Example: (as posted by the GM)

~-~-~
"Has anyone ever seen anything like this before? This... this cannot be natural!"
"Nothing natural about these beasts, miss," replied Sergeant Gunthrowe, his repeating rifle still held at the ready. "I don't think our Lord ever intended for these nightmares to walk the surface of our world."
"Revolting. I can see now why the provost-marshal was so concerned about this."
"Right you are, miss, right you are. Imagine the panic in the tunnels and halls of Croylon and Hamfell if they had to know what was burrowing into the earth around them. The provost-marshal has good reason to be worried about this."
"Speaking of - shall we take that sample we need?" Professor Foxley stepped forward, bone-saw in hand, and began inspecting the still-twitching crab leg closest to him. "I think I shall cut here... and here... for an optimal sample of whatever fills this ghastly shell."
