OOC: Setting Creation and Out of Character

In reply to Evie O'Fife (msg # 42):

Well, its beloved by plenty of people here in its southern bumpkin neighbor thats for sure.

Oh, and this...

quote:
Canada On Top
Canada has been on top of the list several times now, including second in 2010 and 2014. The country boasts of a beautiful countryside, a genial population and no recession. Its political system is a federal parliamentary democracy. It ranks number 11 among the largest economies in the world. Canada also rated high in its appealing environment which attracts tourists from all over the globe. Interview responses from foreigners concerning Canada show that most people from other countries would not be opposed to visiting, studying, working and living there. Canadians today are a multi-plural group, comprised of European, Asian, Aboriginal, Black, Latin American, multi-racial and other ancestries, in that order from largest in population to the smallest. With a general feeling of acceptance of all peoples therein, it is no wonder that Canada has been on the top tier every year for each of the six years the list has been compiled.

I love "The Canadian Coalition of Communist Provinces" can this be a thing.

One of my random rolls was for a Tragic backstory and a Canadian refugee would be kind of great.

I wonder what CCCP would be in Cyrillic, since USSR in Cyrillic is CCCP. ^_^

Re: OOC: Setting Creation and Out of Character

So my options so far that I have been working through are this Tragic character who would basically be a Canadian Captain America powered by his relic, the Sword of Nine Points.

Or some sort of Interstellar construct. Maybe like a venom symbiote.

I'm basically doing random character superposition and just working through all the options along this randomed thread until I find one I really like.

You underestimate the power of random character superposition. If you will not write, then you will yeet your destiny.

OOC: Setting Creation and Out of Character

I think I've got my character statistics nailed down, pending GM approval.

The Crime Syndicate<b>

<b>How are they visually identified?

They Aren’t. The syndicate is insidious precisely because anyone could be a member; you never know if the person you are interacting with is a member of the syndicate until it is too late.

Does the syndicate have powered memebers?

Few. A small number of the syndicate’s members have superpowers. These members may have been recruited for their powers, or they may have gained their powers after joining the syndicate (possibly an intentional or incidental result of one of the syndicate’s schemes).

How openly does the syndicate operate?

Open Secret. Authorities may have heard of the syndicate, but the syndicate does not act openly, and the organization’s size, reach, and the resources at its disposal are largely unknown.

What makes the syndicate different from other gangs?

Advanced Technology. The syndicate traffics in technology on the cutting edge of super science, using it for criminal acts.

So some mad dictator Supervillain has taken over Canada and made superheroes illegal (the only people who could defeat him possibly).

When we started this I hadn't expected that "The Evil Dictatorship" would end up Canada.

Don't know how much it would come up if we go with the Streetline Knights campaign. Though the Explorer's of the Unknown could go dark as well.

So Cold Control + Momentum Movement means I should be able to turn the battlefield into an ice rink, skate around without skates, and check bad guys?

Now for a name, I have been ironically referring to her as the Red Menace in my build notes. But I'm already like overly campy for the setting we have put forward so everything I come up with just seems goofy.

Re: OOC: Setting Creation and Out of Character

OK here's a quick run down of my character so far

Name: Undertaker
Background: Medic
Powers: supernatural
Archetype: close quarter combat
Personality: Stalwart

BACKGROUND:

Undertaker is a dead or should I say undead police forensic scientist killed in the line of duty by a corrupt cop and underworld thugs. Unfortunately for them his will was too great and his need for vengeance too strong to allow him to pass over.
He came back and took his revenge on those who wronged him but even then his need to protect the innocent and uphold justice was too great and he will not pass over until his work is done.

POWERS:

The undertaker is literally the walking dead but not in the decaying zombie like sense. When he returned from the afterlife he brought back some of it's raw essence with him binding it to his soul. The undertaker can make things decay with a touch but can also bring things back from the brink if they are not quite dead. He was always skilled surgeon and with the scalpel that killed him in his hand he fights with precise and methodical ability. He can use his mind to open small pockets of the afterlife creating illusions out of ghostly energy.
Though he is not a ghost he can use the afterlife energy to allow him to fly.He can also literally call down hell on earth when he unleashes his infernal powers on his enemies.

COSTUME:

As the undertaker William wears a Victorian undertaker's outfit complete with black long coat, black trousers, black waist coat and white shirt. The costume is topped off with a black tall had with black ribbon rapped round it with the ends flowing down the back. Since his death William’s skin has taken on a pale green hue, his hair has gone white at the front and his eyes have turned pure white.

It appears we have shifted overnight from dystopian toward darkly humorous. Dystopian Canada: dark, but still very very polite.

Nah, she definitely wants to flout her Canadian roots at a minimum to thumb her nose at the CCCP.

If I'm poisoning the game feel I can switch to one of the other 108 theoretical characters that I was randomly generating.

Perhaps it's my lightly darker supernatural character that's to blame.... If its too dark let me know and I'll choose another concept :0)

I think we are good so long as we are all on a similar page. Like Madam Maple (not real name) is going to have some demons she's hiding behind her idealist exterior.

In reply to Undertaker (msg # 60):

My concept for Evie was dark even by Monsterhearts standards. Definitely pushed the boundaries. Much of the detail will never come out in play, and what does will be greatly toned down. Sentinel Comics by default is Silver Age. One step darker is Bronze Age. Two steps darker is Iron Age. Exactly how dark and gritty do we want to get?

Looked over all your characters and it all looks good. Some minor notes here or there, but close enough that we can begin. Will post the first post this weekend. But I know weekends can be hard to find time to post (they usually are for me in any case) so don't expect replies until the week starts.

As for initiative, I think I will go with a simplified version where I will designate PCs to go first and then whoever who wants can post. Remember to designate a new character and that could be PC/NPC or spesific NPC/Environment. If you write NPC I will choose randomly, and probably designate a few NPC/Scene Elements to go together to save time. Though if it is the end of the turn I'll usually try to refrain from going new round of all NPCs.

Once the Crime Syndicate is decided on the next setting element that should be defined now is The Bad Neighborhood and then it should be a while until the next setting element shows up. Guessing it will be first when we reach the end of the firs issue.

Hi everyone

Now that the GM has given the thumbs up on our characters I was wondering what the dynamic of the team was.... Haven't got a handle it yet so thought, if you want, we could post our character basic here for everyone to look at.

It might give us some ideas on where we might be lacking as a team that could be filled with advancements
