Yes this is correct if you use your gold to purchase a formula you can make anything that skill or feat allows you to craft the materials are available. But time is limited so you need to be selective. If you want something you can't craft yourself maybe another player will do so for you if you buy the formula and materials.

EG if a player can make the striking rune then you could pay them to do one for you.

B. write your character up.
C. I have noticed that the Dr. used Pathbuilder and printed the character sheet and linked that. This is fine it is comprehensive.
D. Any other way you can get me a comprehensive sheet to reference what ever is easier for you.

Note I have Pathbuilder so if you link your path builder sheet to me I can see it.

ok I have posted the game thread if you want magical Items you need to build them your selves there are facilities in the camp.

I am not going to spend a heap of time on this I wanted to give players a chance to use their crafting skills if you have them. You each have access to 50gp of materials for non- magical\alchemical items are available (this doesn't mean you get the gold, this is just a way of measuring the equipment you acquire).

You will get more bang for your buck if you build the items your self.

My good Lass I am not fourteen I am a trained professional damnit..

I can craft fine antidotes, life elixirs, healers kits, antiplagues, and the like it would make them the equivalent of 1.5 gp in materials rather than 3gp I hope someone can make striking rune's...

Oh I see if we combine our skills we will be able to start this game with a few minor magical items.... States the obvious.

Someone asked about a backup healer; my witch dedication is pretty much all poured into healing effects.  Other than stabilize, I took spellcasting dedication and Heal (both of my witch slots prepared with it) and the fast healing Focus spell.

In terms of crafting, I get four free recipes. I'm thinking +1 weapons, gray floating stones (and Continual Flame), 1st level scrolls, and _____ to start with.  Suggestions and requests welcome; some goes for any non-free formulae recommendations.

OK game is closed for more players guys.
You all have a week to get your character sheets posted I liked what the doc has done it gives me a link to a pdf of his sheet and he is putting his equipment below that link. I use pathbuilder my self but didn't know it could do this else I would have put it up in the character notice. I do suggest you utilize this app for character creation it gives all the published feats etc please keep track of your equipment and spells remaining on the local sheet.

1. if you are on PC download "bluestacks"
2. in bluestacks load the app Pathbuilder for 2e and Adobe acrobat reader(bluestacks acts as its own environment in your machine a samsung emulator)
3. Create your character (This is the best builder I have seen out there.)
4. Export your character to pdf if you have loaded acrobat reader it will automatically open.
5. Upload the pdf to the cloud and get a link ( you can do this by clicking the 3 dots joined by lines that form a "<" in top right corner and clicking get link)
6. paste link to character sheet

If you are not interested in going through the role playing of crafting and making your own weapons. this is the break down;

with with the equivalent of 50 gp you should be able to get

1. the starting gear of 15 gp as per the level 1 character
2. A +1 magical weapon or equivalent cost 35 gp

eg the starting champion may take a full set of plate then 20 gp of other gear either way the number of magical items for the group is limited by what you can make in 12 days.

As I believe only one person thus far has craft magic then this will be limited to 3, +1 weapons or a combination of the equivalent.

I understand this may be confusing contact me with any queries.

Does anyone want to pay 30gp toward a lesser elixir of life it will take 4 days to craft 4 and the cost is 120gp for all four they heal 3d6+6, and give a +1 to saves vs diseases and poison for 10min. If not I will just make 4 minor ones, 4 lesser antidotes and 4 lesser antiplagues that will burn all my time.

Hello all!

Thanks for running this, and having me, GM.
And happy to meet, and get to know you, fellow players.

re. posting times, I live in Western Europe (UTC+2 right now).

OOC:
• Oro is a melee PC, being a weapon-using monk, w. a reach weapon and an AoO, pretty mobile (45 feet move), and okay AC (25).
• Skill-wise he is not the smartest shuriken in the box, and is a bit very limited (only party-useful good skills are Perception & Medicine).
But his years in the army & then as a nomad have made him not too bad at everything: he has +7 for all & every skills (including all lores) and can attempt trained skill actions even if untrained (so can try for ones none of us have and/or to Aid others).
• Oro is a healer (welcome a new member to team medic!) with Master proficiency in Medicine and the feats: Continual Recovery & Ward Medic etc. (thus good at Battle Medicine during combat, and Treating Wounds after the fight).
Does anyone else have a lot invested in Medicine? (seems like this will be "E.R. in the desert"!), to see if any feats should be changed or whatever.
• gear-wise, no one can craft a rune of Striking, correct?

@Dr Rajeed: re. lesser elixir of life, thanks for the offer. Oro will pass on that (w. a lot of healing it seems that the smaller elixirs are enough to get people up from dying, and the anti-poison/disease are probably more useful for this group (?).

I'll be buying both the striking and potency rune formula's.

As a note I also started with (do to a feat) the Oil of Potency, Everburning Torch, Hat of Disguise, and Wonderous figurine (onyx dog) Formulas.

• re. our starting to post in game & IC, the "Into the wastes" thread is closed for me (probably what group I am in).
• re. our starting gear: I have the impression you changed the original rules in that we now can purchase a +1 rune for the 35 gp, w/o having to have it crafted?
If so, Oro can/will get one w. his starting money, since he needs nothing else and thus has the money available.
That would be to free up our crafters' crafting time.
If a crafter has the spare time, Oro could ask for the +1 rune to be crafted, and donate the extra money to have other things crafted for people.
Oro has over 40 gp that he does not need, thus he can either buy the rune, or have it crafted for him and donate nearly 25 gp.

That was just my take on that.
I feel it seems we have a lot of healing, thus might not need more than basic ones to help get people back up.
But others might want those or have good reason to say we need them.

So Dr Rajeed took Continual Recovery & Ward Medic as well?
To see if I need to keep those feats or if I go for something else we are lacking.
I imagine Vander has Thievery covered? For disabling traps, opening locks?

You mean you have Assurance in Medicine thus no need to roll for the DC you want to reach? (w. Master prof' in Medicine you have 23 assurance, right? So no auto-crit on DC 15, but +10 healed from auto-success on expert DC)
And you have some Feat/ability that maxes the healing w/o having to roll? Is that it? Which Feat/ability is that?
(I can see Assurance in Medicine as Expert or Master giving you an auto' 2d8+10, or +15 w. Medic archetype, but curious how to get a flat 32 w/o rolling).

(Magic Hands does not boost Battle Medicine, since Battle Medicine is not Treat Wounds, just uses DC & results as Treat Wounds).

I have thievery covered-along with trap finder feat, and have continual recovery and Robust recovery. Not quite as good at healing as the doc, but I do have assurance in medicine.

Okay, since I do not need to pick up Thievery, and we have a lot of Medicine, I might drop a couple of out of combat healing feats and change my build a bit, like seeing about a Trip (and other maneuvers) monk.
Being prone makes the enemy flat footed which would help the others (especially Vander, I imagine).

The grapple damage is not great in my eyes (add STR bonus as damage when you grapple) since it loses impact as you level up.

The throwing is very cool, fun, and nice for positioning people (I could toss 30 ft and do 3d6+4 dam) and it does not have the attack trait (so no MAP).
But there is a Fort save vs. Monk DC (w. penalties to my DC the bigger the things).

Otherwise there is Wolf Drag which knocks anything prone (no size restrictions) where you do a 2 action thing, and Strike. If the Strike hits (normal damage etc.) you add the prone effect (w/o save etc., automatically).
And it is all one action, so you do get MAP, but in a way you get a Strike + a successful Trip if you hit-- but only counting as 1 attack for MAP.

Choices!

As an BBEG I once created a Dwarf monk titan tosser took assurance in athletics and a strength based monk build ended up not needing to even roll to toss the squishies in the party as a majority didn't have athletics. Didn't do too much damage but was fun tossing them round like rag dolls.

Hey Everyone!! Glad to be part of the group. I think I am done, I might be making small changes through the week. I'm Specializing in tracking, survival, searching, etc. Going dual-wield with Battle Axe and Hatchet. I can totally be convinced to go ranged, it was a hard decision for me to make. I took crafting, but I haven't really looked into how all that works, so I will be reading and getting into it, where/what specialty do you think the group will need? RP I was going to go with craft snares.

I'm decent at Deception, Diplomacy, Intimidation, and Society.

Also for building characters I use HerolabOnline. Alway's have found it easier mostly because I've always used it. Never knew there was a Pathfinder online...

Berether I also have Survival and Tracking to an extent however mine is more centralized to the Desert. Reason is I took the Desert Tracker background because of where Sakinah is from. This also gives me Desert Lore.

no it still needs to be crafted.. there seems to be 2 crafters in the group a +1 weapon is 35gp and a +1 striking weapon is 100 gp none of you can afford this but I was encouraging taking these feats because there is another opportunity to transfer runes and craft things at about 20% into the game.

Well, I have Magic on my attacks already (for resist/vulns) so I do not need a +1 rune right now.
Thus I could give money to make a Rune of Striking for someone (it needs 50 gp in mats, right? So 67.5 total mats for +1 Striking?).
And see about getting one for myself later.
Otherwise I'd pay the mats for getting a +1 Rune, to add the Striking later.

Sorry for the delays; my 'weekends' don't always fall out over the weekend, and I'm currently settling into one now.

My understanding is we have two magic crafters in total; can we share formulae?

If there is a monk, I'd be willing to learn Handwraps and possibly craft them for you.  I'm guessing that learning how to, and then crafting, a staff of healing is probably overkill.

Regarding skills, I'm an intelligent based character in a game with a fairly truncated list, not terribly nuts about the racial feats, and new to PF2.  In short, excluding lore (which I have for deserts and elves), the only skills I DON'T have are Athletics, Diplomacy, Intimidate, Performance, and Religion.

And we have...12 days worth of downtime?

Also take into account I do have the oil of Potency formula. While we may not have enough gold to make the true runes, we do have enough to make some of those oil's to start.

Someone asked for a +1 rune?  My crafting will apparently be a flying rock, that +1 weapon, and either four scrolls or four alchemical items, or learning more spells.

Assuming no one backtracks and decides we absolutely must have a staff of healing.

Yes, but I'm playing a wizard with too much money and not enough time.  I don't have a lot of reason to my starting gold-equivalent on much, so I might well buy a bunch of recipes spells and potions for later consideration.  My understanding from the GM is we didn't actually have 50 gold to spend as such, but more dumpster-dived the camp.

Yes unless you role play gambling with the soldiers for some money you won’t be leaving the camp with gold. This should encourage you all to work as a group to get what you need.

Magic Weapon is great and all, but for my build it's not great enough. I get a single first level spell and a single second level spell. With a feat I chose, I get a single signature spell too, so for what I am Shocking Grasp makes more sense for my 1st level spell, and as my signature spell. Add to that as a fighter I have Power Attack, and Furious Focus. So on the first round of a fight I give you a love tap for 3d12 damage, and a massive swing for 2d10+6 +2 More Electrical. The Second round is almost as hard, except I lose only 1d12 on the Shocking Grasp.

I too have magic weapon to help others out and I am taking 2 per day.

I have spent all my gold on making antidotes and antiplagues and a continual flame hat.

I figure that we have enough healing in the group that unless I am making the more expensive lesser elixirs of life it isn't worth it. But a +6 with a treat wounds check to your save vs poison or disease will be more beneficial to the group.

Looks like all of your character are coming along please remember to add a horse or camel with saddle tack and harness to your equipment.

You will all need to sort out who's animal is carrying what from the list of supplies that have also been provided e.g. the tents and fire wood.

So here’s what I am understanding,
Dr Rajeed has made potions

Lupine has made 1 x +1 striking rune for someone and a Grey Aeon Stone

(The striking rune costs 84 gp with Lupin working 4 extra days on it so some of you will need to put some gp of materials in who gets the rune and who is helping gather materials?)

Vander has gathered all sorts of things

And the rest have equipped themselves as best they can.

I spent all my allocated materials but if someone donates 24gp of materials
I can produce 4 minor elixirs of life as well rather than using the time to reduce the costs on the other elixirs I made.

Who wants what? I would like to spread these out I have 4 Antidotes and 4 antiplagues currently, if somone donates the 24gp I will have 4 elixirs of life too.

Oro will be happy to take the +1 Potency Rune Lupine Vedetian made.
That is 17.5 gold of mats (correct?). So I will add that to my gear (okay w. all?).
Does Lupine Vedetian need Oro to donate those 17.5?
If so, then Oro will donate those 17.5 in mats', and he will have an "extra" 27 gp in mats to donate to others (if we can give to others, GM?).
If Lupine Vedetian does NOT need the 17.5 gp, then Oro has 44.5 gp to donate for something else:
• helping w. Dr. Rajeed's current crafting (reducing time) and/or having him make for stuff for the group
• helping w. Ababa's full plate ("Why wear armor," Oro mutters)

re. the Grey Aeon Stone: is that for Lupine Vedetian to use? (would be good, since you can cast Light on it, or have someone pop Continual Flame)
As a non-Darkvision PC I can use it too if you do not want and/or pay the mats for it (as part of the choices noted above)

It costs 35 GP if I don't spend lots of time beyond day 4 to cut the cost down, which I would rather not do; I want to use some of the downtime days to either learn new spells or craft scrolls.  I also want to spend some of my gear's worth on new recipes for crafting down the road (like a staff of evocation)

Lupine can, in fact, cast Light.  Given that he is not melee, it might be better to hand it off temporarily to a melee character.  They're pretty cheap to make down the road, but an individual caster can only have a basic Light cast on one item at a time.

re. the Grey Aeon Stone:
Oro pays the 6 gp of ruby dust to Dr Rajeed to have Continual Flame cast on the stone (then we can put it away / pop it out of a bag or pocket to help those who did not see in the dark).

Okay, so we have an Aeon Stone w. Continual Flame on it, for whoever wants it.
I imagine Sakinah Dakar can use it?

And, in the end, Oro has only the 3.5 gp left to offer: Lupine Vedetian, can they help you? (if so, use them).

Finally, since I talked about my build: I dumped the Medicine Feats since we have others w. them (still good Battle Medicine though) and the Trip build (did not like the RP of "Wolf Claw" & Stances, and we have our tailed-tripper)-- so Oro took more mobility feats (Ki spells to let him Teleport @45 feet, or to do a double move in 1 Action-- so he can move 180 feet in a round). Probably not useful that often, but might come in handy... and they are fun!

I have neatly burned all my gold.  I could take a few spells (possible learning some new primal witch spells for variety) but otherwise I think I'm pretty well covered.

Heads up, I am trying to go for a character that is neutral, in the sense that he looks at the world as if all wild. That there isn’t necessarily evil or good rather those that survive and those that don’t. Killing to make a living or feed ones self and family, or protect is just nature. There is nothing to it. But, my character is still a humanoid, so while for the most part he thinks this way, and sees the world through that lenses , there are still things that he will not do, and lines he will not cross. I’m really excited for this character and what he will become. He has never traveled with other, other then his tiger. He has always been alone, and even his orc tribe he was an outsider due to his mother’s blood.

foraging take time I am happy for you to do so just need to allocate time and roll as for rations you could subsist with your foraging and others in the group have good survival they could help. you would need to allocate roughly 8 hours to subsist and foraging per day to enable the party to survive.

this for you won't be too hard I would suggest just normal rations so you don't weaken your selves as when you run out you will be able to forage for more.

There are 10 thieves 3 days advance of us. Did they take similar or exact same provisions as us? As we walk, between foraging, I’d like to keep on eye for their pace, if they are traveling our speed or slower, and if the group has split.

10 bulk = 1 Large bulk for them and they can carry 15 large bulk each or 150 of medium bulk.
By "medium" bulk, you mean 'our' PC Bulk?
(ie. my Bo staff is 2 Bulk for me, which is 2 medium Bulk for the camel, or .2 large bulk for the camel?)

if you choose to continue traveling for more than 4 more hours, the group will start to incur rolls for endurance etc.

OK I have rolled for all those that didn't and given you each a small bit of information based on your rolls this has been posted privately to each of you. So if you want to share that information you will need to post it.

I hope I used the right "private" method one is "secret one is "private" and only one of the choices lets you the players know I said it only to that player. The other looks like part of description text really cool for messing with players. Because you can hide secrets to players within the descriptions without others knowing.

am I having to assume peeps have drawn their weapons before start of initiative or that you all travel weapon in hand,

just asking because it hasn't been discussed and I am wondering how you all travel e.g. did Vander automatically draw his sling once reaching the bottom of the rope as that is just how he travels?

Berethor stated earlier that he readied his bow which makes things clearer.

So is there anything I should be assuming your characters do all the time when in exploration mode?

had to do an update guys I got my distances wrong so the last spider was able to sneak across the roof (clib 30') to the hole by this round not the next.

I forgot to add in the Stunning Fist effect last round! I'll be sure to remember this round.

What I'm trying to figure out is whether I should have Aeris throw the spider (via Whirling Throw) or just beat it up with Elven martial arts.

ok so no clear rules on an attack roll for crit fails I have played this 3 ways in the past

1. you receive a -2 circumstance penalty on your next roll (be it a save an attack etc. It is only the next roll not round and only occurs in combat) this is just a representation of your  game getting thrown off.

2. no effect other than a fail. Unless stated otherwise in the core rules e.g. see grapple

3. I could pull out the crit fumble deck if you all like :)

Which would you all prefer?

they move things down a bracket so if you succeed on nat 1 then it becomes a fail if you fail on a nat 1 it becomes a crit fail.

As a point of clarification to the combat tracker, Lupine is also down his Level 3 use of Drain Arcane Bond, the proper Paralyze slot having been used to charge up his staff, and has a second point in his Focus Pool if needed before he needs to refocus.

No. I made sure we had extra players in case this happened. Minimum for adventure is 5 players. If a player disappears for over a month I try to contact them and give warnings before taking this action. I don’t want players that aren’t going to play. Thus far I see everyone else is logging into the game even if their posts are erratic, I am cool with this as that is the way of play by post. What I have done means the rest of the group and the game won’t end up hanging awaiting one player to reappear. It is also a reminder that if you’re not posting then you aren’t playing.

A little better. A lot of my issue I think is I'm getting wore out because of my allergies, which is also affecting my insomnia, which doesn't work well with sleep apnea. So when I get my three days off each week I just wanna sleep.

I go on vacation here in Mid-September for GENCON and I took off for the first several days before the con and after it too. Normally after it I feel a lot better so I'm hoping so again.

Can we all agree to rest in these ruins a day then I can memories detect alignment and use the lab and craft room to perhaps get the copper scroll open to read it further. If we rested here a few days perhaps someone cold transpose the striking rune too.

So just to clarify.

It seems you’re saying that if we want as a group, we can craft 2 x magical armour + 1 of resistance (breastplate, hide armour, leather armour or clothing), 1 x magical +1 striking weapon, 4 x antitoxin potions,  and 1 x expert healers tools. We can also read the map and the copper scroll during this time.

This will cost us time enough to deplete our water to the point that the next thing we will need to do is go searching for water, and we would need to unstopper the bottle in which we believe some evil entity resides.

So I have just been going through my spells and I can elongate our survival here with create food and water though I don’t know if I can create enough for the camels and horses too. Also I have a bunch of spells I want to try on the bottle to further our investigation of it. And if we damage the copper scroll I may be able to find out the words in it.

I will get my first day’s list of spells done today if we are spending time here it may be a suggestion for the others who can to start turning the components and spider parts we found into useful things eg hide into leather, web into cloth etc etc

Sorry about not posting the last few days. The main line out of my house broke and the drainage has been backing up into my downstairs through my downstairs bathroom. So that's about 3 grand out of my pocket for them to dig up my yard and fix that. All while I been spending the last several days cleaning up the crappy situation in my downstairs bathroom, kitchen, and basement. Fun times.

A +1 striking rune on Sakinah's Wishblade would be nice.

So would the end of anything bad happening in my life. lol

@Sakinah, very sorry to hear about your drainage issue. That is a large expense to be hit with out of the blue. I have definitely been there when I had to pay out of pocket for my roof when the insurance refused to cover it. We'll pray for you guys.

As far as Aeronon is concerned a +1 striking rune for my wish blade or an upgrade for my scale mail would be extremely beneficial. I have Speciality Crafting (Blacksmithing) so I can help in that regard once we decide exactly what we want to craft.

As for moving the game forward. Yes I am pushing to get onto the next part. I hope my small poem isn’t too ambiguous. But to clarify the choices left to the group.

1. Spend some down time make what you can that is useful trap the bottle hall and return to the desert.
2. Return to the desert immediately and continue on.
3. Open or try to destroy the bottle, releasing the evil giving you the final components needed to make all of the possible protective items available for this part of the adventure with some downtime. Then move on into the desert.

Given that Lupine can create water and there's a lot of crafting on the table, I have an incentive to stick around and max up on downtime without the army camp time limits.  That's a version of option 1.

Lupine wants to make what he can transfer runes etc. As a number of players can create water and food with what is needed for the camels and horses you are able to extend the down time to craft what you want. I just need a list of what is being made and who is getting what.

Borethor will thaw in a few days he is still dead but his equipment can be be added to the parties after that time.

Please let me know what the group is doing… I would like to expedite the down time if that’s the way the group is going, and get back to the adventure.

Yes there are exit tunnels to the east that allows the spiders to pop out from trap doors covered by sand and that’s it all finished currently a safe place to rest out of sun but it would be advised to build tents for the animals if you’re staying here a while.

Sorry for the wait in a reply, I am still dealing with the main line disaster at my house. Every day I come home from work I have to do clean up. Thankfully they are finally going to be here tomorrow to start the work.

Under normal circumstances, I'd be pissed. But I can't. Last week we had huge amounts of storms, and towards the end of the week their main guy got admitted to the hospital for a heart condition. So they had to hire a new crew to complete all the jobs they had lined up, to include mine. I've worked with this company in the past, so I know they do good work, and know they guy who was admitted to the hospital. So while I can be frustrated at my situation, I cannot be mad at the company.

OK I think have figured things out. 4 days to craft things you have the components to craft. To transfer the rune of striking you will need to choose the weapon, prepare it and you will be able to switch the +1 potency and striking rune to the weapon you want in a day (at a cost of 10 gp of your components). .

You have enough components right now to be valued at 200gp for weapon and armour crafting.

Be careful how you spend it..

This will cost you in time 4 days per item.

To place the high level runes on the items you need a more expensive component. (Like the ruby stopper which is worth 1000gp.)

This would give you a total of 1200 in components. Which would allow you to make +1 fire resistant armour x 2 (580 gp per suit) and transfer the striking rune (10 gp) leaving you 30gp of components (as an example).

(Runes like fire resistance yes you will need a ruby as part of the components.)

2 people can craft magical items in the group Sir Aeronon Blackgem and Lupine If you share formulas you should be able to make some nice items from this.

The Items you all may craft as always is up to you guys as long as you have the required components.

Guys on this coming Monday I am going to time skip 4 days ahead to the opening of the stopper.
The following will have been done
- +1 Striking rune transferred to a players weapon (if no one tells me which player I will roll randomly for this and someone's weapon will become +1 striking with great thanks to Lupin).

- Doc will have his expanded healers tools (50gp components I forgot him in the previous posts calculations)

- Vander will have a dropnet (6gp) rigged above the bottle (please let me know how this will be activated?)

If no one posts what you are doing to prepare or other actions of readiness. I need the spells cast prior to opening and what you have memorized ready to cast. Where people are going to be standing and What you have readied, etc.


On Monday when I write the "prologue scene" to the opening of the bottle. What ever you have posted will be taken into account if you have not posted anything you will be placed by me and assumed to be holding your weapon readied,

I'd say either of the fighters get the rune. I know Sakinah is one, but I forgot the other.

As a side note, Sakinah can also craft Oil of Potency for some of the rest to put on their weapons. I'm not sure how that would work into our materials.

I'm still at a loss of why only 4 days?  Once we share some spells, food and water becomes negligible, so we can take our time with crafting without dipping into reserves.  We seem to be very caster heavy.

Lupine the honest truth is because no-one has posted differently.

I am working on keeping this game flowing at a nice clip, in the hopes there is not a loss of interest in the game. The down side to this is that I have to make assumptions, which is why I have been posting a succinct (i hope) sequence that I will follow to move the game forward.

If no-one posts differently that is what happens and I can move forward if you want it to run differently you just need to post it in character and I will respond within 48 hours and change the sequence accordingly. I have a story to follow yes, but it is up you all to keep it moving forward, without you all putting in some posts I am left guessing.

This is me asking everyone in the group to post. I keep tabs on who is posting and taking part in game. I Know we all have RL restraints but I would like to see all players trying to post in character 2 times a week. This allows other players to get a feel of your characters personality.

Again I say I am not expecting a big story your character could be a person of few words, but is helps if you throw in one line of talk with a small action eg.

My thoughts are these:

We can functionally double the output of crafting if time is not an issue.  It apparently isn't.  So, other than moving the one rune, Lupine can craft a bundle of new +1 runes depending on what materials are around.  Ideally, I would also like him to turn his staff into an evocation staff (assuming at least 115 GP of craft supplies) and add a boat-load of new spells to his book and snake.  Other than that, if anyone else wants a flying rock (which I think someone else can add light to) that is also on the table.

Lupine if you kill the horses and camels you can survive here indefinitely with magical food and water as I have said to Vander if you choose to keep the animals alive with your spells you can extend your supplies by about 20 days.

Just for clarity Let’s say you have 30 days before your actual rations of water would run out and the animals or party members would start suffering dehydration. And 37 for food ( you had 2 weeks food one week water)

30 days is your limit on time or risk losing your rides. You can push this but this is when I am going to start rolling checks for players or animals.

As for components you have 200gp worth but no ruby which is required for continual light and the more expensive formulas you have.
Remember minimum time per item is 4 days. And you may want to make more funky items after you pull the stopper.

You just need to tell me the time you want to spend on making stuff or new spells before then after the stopper is pulled and what you will be making.

Looks like you have two for the rune. Sakinah and Aeronon. So it's a matter of which to give it to as either is a viable option.

As a side, Sakinah unless the party objects, will make the 4 oils of potency.

So I can make one person airwalk for a minute and if lucky I can keep the entity tied to this plane we will have to see once we open the bottle.

Lupine am I just running with your current spell list on your character sheet? and did you want to sacrifice the animals for unlimited time to craft? If not what are you crafting before then after the bottle opening?

Currently Doc has requested 25gp of components to begin crafting extended healers tools the remainder of the crafting cost will need to be calculated based on the days spent here crafting and if he finishes prior to the bottle opening or whenever the group moves on (please confirm which you are doing Doc the formula for crafting is as below).

(25gp + 4 days) + (25gp - 5sp per extra day spent crafting)

Sakinah Dakar's Wishblade -> +1 Striking Wish blade (rune transfer By Lupine)

(10 gp + 1 day)

Sakinah Dakar 4 x oil of potency

(14 gp + 4 days) + (14gp - 3sp per extra day spent crafting)

Vander Drop net trap

When the net creature in 10' area makes a Basic Reflex Save DC 18 (+2 for crit craft check). On a failure, the target is flat-footed and takes a –10- foot circumstance penalty to its Speeds until it Escapes, and on a critical failure, it's also immobilized until it Escapes. The Escape DC is 18 (+2 for crit craft check). A creature adjacent to the target can spend 2 Interact actions to remove the net.

(3 gp + 4 days) + (3gp - 3sp per extra day spent crafting)

At a minimum to be prepared to open the bottle I have calculated a time of 4days and a cost of:
6gp net trap
10gp +1 Striking rune transfer
50gp expanded healers tools
28gp 4 x oil of potency

Total components = 94gp,  Days required = 4


If you added an extra +1 striking weapon you would be spending 194gp of components and still only 4 days crafting time, as Sir Aeronon Blackgem could craft the extra weapon.



This should give you a clear calculation method for your equipment.

Currently I am only interested in what is being made prior to opening the bottle but I would be happy if you gave me a full list of your intended creations before and after opening the bottle

Remember prior to opening the bottle you have 200gp components and max 30days before penalties incurred due to the animals depleting your stores.

If you survive opening the bottle then you can add 1000gp to the components the number of days stays the same.

Please give me direction on this guys, I want to move this forward..

@Others Lupine wanted to make a staff of evocation (230gp) if you allow your animals to die or eat them and spend a few months here you could reduce the cost of all items crafted by half. But in 30days you will need to decide what items are most important, and which you will craft before and after opening the bottle.

Right, assuming Lupine focuses on (and someone teaches him or he otherwise learns) Create Food, he can create food for 36 medium sized creatures every day using only his highest level slots. With his level 2 slots is another 26, aka a total of 2 party members and 6 mounts indefinitely.  Minus one level 2 spell means 6 party members and 5 mounts.  Given how caster-heavy we are, someone else willing to cast with three 2nd and one 4th spell slot means food enough for all indefinitely, minus the days Lupine actually has to cast spells to make his staff.  Assuming a similar intent on water, Lupine alone can create 8-12 gallons per day (have to refresh my memory on some of his abilities).  Assuming spells of a higher level can be used without a proper Heightened ability, Lupine can add another 8 gallons of water with his level 3 slots.  How much water would be needed to keep everyone alive and happy??

Assuming we can't keep all the mounts alive, keeping at least one or two at minimum means a massive increase in carrying capacity.  Assuming we can work the numbers to keep the party plus, let's say, half the mounts alive, I would ideally like to cut crafting costs to minimum.

Current spell selections is fine for when crafting is done and we decide to open the bottle.  During crafting, obviously focus would be given on limiting the use of rations to the greatest possible extreme.

@Lupine Water is a problem. You and doc can create 12 gallons of water per day(create water cannot be heightened). I am assuming it is 2 gallons per 4 medium creatures per day and 10 times that for the same number of large creatures you are 8 medium and 8 large creatures so even at half rations you are not making enough water. This is why I capped time at 30 days before the group would start to suffer checks to see if penalties will be incurred.

In a desert people drink 1 gallon per day I am calculating at half rations for water to make it last as long as possible.

As for food docs create food is divine not arcane so I am ruling that he cannot teach you that spell you would need to research it. He can produce food for 42 medium creatures so that would be your group and 3 of the large beasts. So until you’re research is completed the food stores would slowly deplete. I am trying to find info on researching a new spell without a teacher. I will keep you updated.

If the group agrees to butcher half the animals now, then you can increase your time lets say to 2 months if you kill all accept 1 animal that makes the time you can stay here indefinite.

With only half the animals you will need to be walking and the animals would carry all the equipment. This will double your travel time in the desert.

With 1 animal you will need to think of what you will bring as you won't be able to take all the stores and equipment but most likely you will all have a striking or equivalent weapon and a sets of magical armour for a few of you.

Again the choice is up to you.

These are your choices.

1. 30 Days and you can create 1200gp in items paying the full cost of the item in components.

2. 60 Days and the Items cost less but is the juice worth the squeeze if your desert movement is halved with a likely hood of wandering monsters finding you. You could save at a maximum of up to roughly 150-180 gp which would be 1 or 2 extra items depending on what you craft.

3. Indefinite and you could craft 2400gp not 1200gp of magical items the trade off would be the months you would spend here, with an increased likely hood of wandering monsters finding you. Halved movement in the desert, and a drastic reduction in supplies you can carry which will have an affect in a negative way on your travel in the desert.

Lupine as you will be making most of the items you may find little time to research those spells you want.

With this knowledge can I just get a 1,2, or 3 from each of you most votes is what we do. As I said I am looking to move on please.

Create Food per the source I was using (Archives of Nethys) showed up on Arcane, Divine, and Primal.

Do we know about the oasis?  If so, let's just head there and do crafting there, after a few days of prep work to defeat the Ultimate EvilTM in the bottle.

I for one vote option 1.

I am tiring of talking about what we will craft and not opening the bottle. We can still craft some good stuff in 30 days and 1200gp is nothing to shy away from. By my calcs we could all have a +1 striking weapon in that time. I am sure there will be other things to get later. And I am not wanting to deal with random monsters rather than the campaign encounters.

Also I can use a location spell to find the closest water I think or read omens again to get a clue on the direction.

Either way I would like to see a decision made you have my vote you know what I am crafting I will use all the time we stay her to cut the cost of that by as much as I can so I won't have that item before we open the bottle.

Changing my first level spells to Admonishing Ray x2
and Spirit link x1

I have listed my spells with change noted above. I will be casting before opening the bottle, resist energy (fire) on Lupine, My self and our heaviest hitter who will be going toe to toe with this thing, I will then cast Spirit Link on our frontline heavy hitter followed by Airwalk, following this I will use an oil of potency on my armor just before we open the bottle if that is ok?

Once the bottle is opened before whatever is in there has a chance to do anything other than pop out I will give dimensional anchor a try in the hopes of preventing what ever it is getting away and I am sure Vander will be dropping his net on it too..

Can we open the bottle now?

Since I am a newcomer anyway, I am happy to defer to the majority but the sooner the better as far as I am concerned. I'll use my crafting skills in any way that will be helpful to the group overall just let me know.

Sorry about not realizing that we had restarted already! That's totally my oops! I been doing 6 day work weeks since December started, and am on the last one now. Next week is a 5 day work week for me, and Xmas Eve starts a 4 day weekend for me. Then I'm back on my 4 day on 3 day off normal work schedule come the new year. Thank god too!

On the up tick, between overtime and bonuses I make almost 1/6th of my yearly income in December alone. Let that sink in for a bit.

Like I have said I don't want to waste time here.
You now have the required components for crafting. Adding potency +1 and resistance 5 to fire, for 2 sets of armour or cloths. And the siccatate lamp provides components for 3 talismans that will grant a weapon temporary flaming (+1d8) for a minute or saved as a component for a later date.
The formula for these were found in the ancient library and in Sir Aeronon crafting book along with some other formulas that I will throw in as we go because they are part of his holy texts and I don't want to come up with them right now.
The group can make these items it will take time and I will need one roll for each item (craft magic is fun). Then I will carry on as that covers the whole sunken city saga.

Sakinah has little use for the 5 resistance to fire as she already has that innately. +1 potency she could use though. lol

I say we save the talismen componants. Flaming isn't going to help us to much in a desert.

Anyway, Sakinah has Magical Crafting so anything we want crafted let me know. :)

Actually a Basic Crafter's Book should allow you to craft any level 0 weapon which is any weapon in the core book. And Sakinah does have one of those, as well as the Speciality Crafting (Blacksmithing) feat.

But if you're talking the weapon potency rune, Sakinah does have that formula.

I think all you need to use siccatate is the base weapon formula, and a higher skill. Expert to craft a lower grade siccatate item, master rank to craft a standard grade one, and legendary can create high grade ones. Then of course materials. And also of a level of the material and item too.

By rules Sakinah has everything except for the level to create siccatate weapons or armor. Need level 11 for standard siccatate weapons and level 12 for standard siccatate armor.

I been having to read them pretty heavy TBH because I have a player in my game that's pretty interested in them.

Plus add to that, in another game I play an archer and me and the GM and a couple other players were trying to figure out the crafting rules for arrows and realized that they sucked in 2e.

Basically any consumable and ammunition you can craft in batches. Consumables is batches of 4, ammo is in batches listed in the ranged weapons table, typically 10. And it takes the usual long crafting time to make the full batch, 4 days. Yup, 4 full days to craft 10 arrows, 4 healing potions, etc etc. Silly. 10 arrows in 4 days. British fletchers were making twice that in a quarter of the time in the medieval era.

So while crafting is MUCH simpler now, there is some flaws.

So, I looked into crafting a little more and I got so much wrong. The energy resistant formula requires you to be 8th level to craft that item. But the doc's prophecy promised 2 peeps be protected from fire.

As transferring runes seems only to have the difficulty of the rune level to transfer to another item this is what I am going to do.

The stopper and the lamp both have the energy resistance vs fire rune on them.

Here is what is possible due to the items/materials you all found in the sunken plaza and there value.

1.  Craft 2x weapons +1 striking min cost 100gp Materials + 4days per weapon (Craft DC 20)
2.  Repair/transfer runes on broken dagger +1 striking cost 10gp Materials + 1 day (Craft DC 20) this will create a 3rd +1 striking weapon of choice
3.  Craft Armor x2 with potency +1, cost 320gp + 4 days per armor (Craft DC 20)
4.  Transfer 2x energy resistance runes to armor cost 42gp materials and 1 day per rune  (craft dc 24)

This can be completed with your 2 magic crafters in 10 days total.
To achieve this in this time frame, I would need the following rolls:
Lupin   2x crafting rolls DC 20
        2x crafting rolls dc 24
Sakinah 3x crafting rolls DC 20

I gave you the 2 harder rolls lupin as you are more likely to succeed.

This will allow you to make 2 batches of potions Dr Rajeed. You will have to burn the full cost, rather than minimum cost as you have done with your calculations. And one batch needs to be antitoxin as you have the spider poison as an ingredient.

If you are ok with this, we will burn the 10 days + materials. They will be removed from treasure list and we move on.

(note: This is all done at full cost without taking extra time to reduce costs during crafting. You can get more items by taking months for crafting if you want.)

Sakinah should likely get the +1 Striking weapons. Also when crafting metal magic items she'd have a +2, she has Speciality Craft: Blacksmithing, so her crafting would be the same as Lupine's a +17.

The answer is yes with time

currently

10 days + 950gp in materials (this depletes your material stores)

If you take an extra 45 days in crafting you can save enough on materials to craft 2 extra weapons
Would you like to do this?

If so I will need 2 more rolls. One from each lupin and Sakinah and you all spend 55 days in the sunken plaza.

All in all it will be a desert retreat for a couple of months and give you all a chance to really get to know each other.

Ok I am going to give this a couple more days then if there are no posts, I will continue I will allocate equipment with the following assumptions based on the materials you had available:

1. Caelara Morning's Light and Joanna Durst will be taking a different direction when you all head out into the desert.

2. 1x +1 Staff of striking - Scath Oiche
   1x +1 Spear of striking - Dr Rajeed
   1x +1 Wishblade of Striking - Sakinah Dakar
   1x +1 Rapier/Shortsword of striking - Vander of Clan Fivetail
   1x Staff of evocation - Lupine (I am willing to do this staff Lupine but this will use up
      all the materials)

3. 2x +1 Desert Tarantella Leather armor of energy resistance (fire 5)

4. Dr Rajeed I am good for you to craft those first set of potions. though with the time you have do you want to try to create formula for a stronger antidote as you have enough spider venom to do that, you will only end up with the formula and a successful antidote moderate. that will use all the tarantula parts. and I will need an extra medicine check.

rapiers do a d6's but on a crit it has the 1d8 deadly trait.

On a critical hit, the weapon adds a weapon damage die of the listed size. Roll this after doubling the weapon's damage. This increases to two dice if the weapon has a greater striking rune and three dice if the weapon has a major striking rune. For instance, a rapier with a greater striking rune deals 2d8 extra piercing damage on a critical hit. An ability that changes the size of the weapon's normal damage dice doesn't change the size of its deadly die.

Also any missing formula's you needed eg rapier of leather armor to create the items were found in Sir Aeronon's book

I have burnt all the materials off the treasure list there are some formula's left and the gloves of smithing. Who wants?

He's down Glitterdust and Acid Arrow.  Expected time to learn them for free is 3 days each; less for a Crit Success(11 or higher) and more for a failure (1).

Crafting the staff would take another 115 GP of reagents assuming 46 days to continue crafting which I don't think we have; Lupine can start now and continue on the next downtime (or possible blunt-force the issue by collecting treasure).

Look if we remove one of the staves of striking the cost difference isn't so bad that I wouldn't let it all fly all we do is add the days to make the spells I drain the remainder of materials to cover the time and we are good it will not have a striking rune is all. It would be a +1 staff of evocation

I think I'm the lowest priority to take a striking rune, because Lupine is the least likely to attack with his staff.  That said, if the rune is only applicable to the staff I'll run with it.

Also to note, Lupine is a Staff Nexus wizard, so his crafted staff has a few extra goodies.

I am a bit unclear on your last post are you wanting the +1 staff of evocation or the +1staff of striking everyone received a magic weapon from the sunken plaza. you can choose one or the other and I don't think anyone will complain.

Sorry the runes confuse me.

I don't have a high priority for the staff to be +1, if there are party members without a +1 weapon. I'm fine with just a +0 staff of evocation.
