Re: Chapter 1: The Missing Shipment

Jaxus offers to take the shovel from the dwarven monk.  Let me see what I can do with that.
05:01, Today: Jaxus Dastero rolled 21 using 1d20+1.  Str check to dig.
Natural 20.  Apparently, Jaxus is a digging machine, a human earth mover....

Greddark handed off the shovel to Jaxus, smiling

"Thank you!"

Digging in his pouch, Greddark produced a Zolanpuff, one of the treats he'd made for Cassia

"Perhaps the little fella would like one of these?"

Re: Chapter 1: The Missing Shipment

The hare gladly takes the additional food but instead of consuming it. He begins to pile the pieces up in front of him. The Foodgiver is generous. The other Hindwalkers looked much as you Hindwalkers walking through in Falsefurs

Those of you that are digging are managing to break through the hardened clay and able to accomplish the shape and depth you desire.

Re: Chapter 1: The Missing Shipment

Jaxus looks intently at where he has been digging, studying the dug hole as if it were a tome of some import.

So, it's just an patch of hardened clay in the dirt?  How big of a patch is it?  Is there anything unusual about it being there?
22:38, Today: Jaxus Dastero rolled 15 using 1d20+1.

Turnip joined Cassia, "I'll take a look but I don't think we'll find anything here. The rabbit seemed to think we needed to continue on that direction. Either way I'm thinkin we set up camp and rest for the night"

Re: Chapter 1: The Missing Shipment

The ground throughout this region is hard and dry which poorly accepts footprints. This area that was found was simply a region that did display a very faint and barely present footprint. Nothing else could be found in the print, though a direction can be inferred from it's position.

With these discoveries, the group sets up camp for the night. The only signs of life are a number of hares that make their way to the pile of food.

"Won't do no one no good if'n we're plum tired when we do catch up with our cart thief. Plus I'm pretty sure some o'ya'll can't see in the dark. Safer if we make camp." Turnip offered a hand in setting up the camp. She worked diligently.

Re: Chapter 1: The Missing Shipment

Antony grabs his armor by the chest nd pulls. It comes off, arms, legs and helm disappearing until all that is left is a breastplate. He pulls some tools out of his pouch and starts fiddling with the inside of the 'plate, muttering to himself, "OK, let's tweak the sensory inhibitor from audio/visual to tactile ... redirect static accumulator discharge from cathode to gauntlets ... retract the crystal cathode..." After about an hour he nods in satisfaction and puts his tools away. "Well, I won't move as fast and I'll be easier to see and hear but harder to touch. Oh, and it's geared for melee rather archery support." He then turns his attention to maintenance on his crossbow, making sure it's ready to go.

Re: Chapter 1: The Missing Shipment

Jaxus sets about assisting with setting up camp.  When the campfire is built, he leans in, and snaps his fingers close to the tinder, as he intones, Fliccum Biccus, to cause a spark that ignites it.  That should keep the animals away.
He then sits back to eat some of his rations.  The head of a rat appears from underneath the shoulder of his tunic, whiskers flicking as it sniffs about.  Breaking off a bit of hardtack, reaches up to offer it to the rodent.  Here you go, Scamps.  I may have a bit of cheese in my pouch, if you want it.
He then turns to the others.  So, who wants first watch?  I would prefer last.

Lyndra walked in silence, focused on her job as she went. When they called a stop, she waled a perimiter and then helped set up a campfire, her weapons ever ready at her side.

As she sat there, she spoke. "I can see well in the darkness, and don't need mych rest.  I can take the middle shift."

In reply to Antony (msg # 459):

Cassia watched the...human? with interest as he fiddled with his armour, "Explain what you're doing here? This all looks very interesting. I've seen an artificer at Morgrave university do something similar before but not quite this... advanced?"
The young bard sat at the fire by Sebastian and took out her tambourine, nodding at the musically inclined elf that she would back him up should he choose to sing tonight.

Re: Chapter 1: The Missing Shipment

Antony nods, "Well, basically it's a breastplate made  of adamantine, like what we are chasing. I made some adjustments to it allowing access to some technomantic circuitry inside the chestplate.

"It can extrude arms, legs, helm, etc when it senses itself around me. I also put in a variable sense sensory dampening field. Of course, activating these generates something of a static charge on the inside which needs to be bled off. I added the crystal cathode for that, along with some control circuits. Basically it throws lightning when I need it to. It also allows me to move a bit faster, for some reason. Not sure why.

"That's fine for scouting, I just adjust the sensory dampener for visual and auditory dampening, and I'm harder to see and can snipe as necessary.

"However, that's best for when I'm alone. In a crowd I thought some adjustments would be beneficial. I've adjusted the sensory dampener to tactile, making it harder to touch me. A week forcefield, in effect. However, that inhibits the cathode's ability to discharge excess static build up through it, so I retracted the cathode gem and rechanneled the energies to my gauntlets. When I touch someone, I should be able to discharge directly into them. I will probably be slowed somewhat, as the tactile features of the field at it's current setting will likely cause a bit of drag, but the enhanced movement will probably compensate for most of that."

Antony shrugs, "You asked." Then he looks down at his armor plate, "And that's what I did with a mere 20 pounds of adamantine."

Re: Chapter 1: The Missing Shipment

Jaxus cocks an eyebrow at the description of the capabilities of Antony's armor.  Fascinating, he says.  Something like that could not be invested in a set of clothing, could it?  A Making sets of clothing with similar capabilities could be a fascinating way to make a great deal if money.

"Are you thinking of marketing your armor to House Cannith? I can imagine that they'd pay a pretty Sovereign for those designs. Mmmmm Papa that smells delicious what's in that?"  Cassia nodded along, taking out her pen and her journal she scribbled down notes as Anthony spoke, the mark on her face glowing slightly as she did.
"I think Seb is right though. We should go in that direction. Turnip, what did that rabbit say? Did it give you any insight?"
