Shadows
SHADOWS
For a single point, a character can have a personal shadow – a world of their own creation and design, where they can be deity, supreme ruler, or behind-the-scenes puller of strings.
Shadow Type
Personal Shadow - 1 point
A shadow of personal design. Steampunk, Galactic Empire, Post-Apocalyptic Wasteland, whatever.
Shadow of the Realm - 2 points
A personal shadow that is in close proximity to Amber. It is difficult to alter. Members of the royal family are likely to know about it and take an interest in what happens there. Other denizens of shadow may discover it in their travels.
Primal Shadow - 4 points
A personal shadow that contains a bit of reality, something left over from the creation of the Pattern or pre-dating the Logrus.
Shadow Barriers
More expensive barriers include the features of the cheaper ones.
Communications Barrier - 1 point
This shadow is barred to contact from any or all of the following: Pattern, Logrus, Trump, Sorcery, Psyche. It's all-or-nothing, however.
Restricted Access - 2 points
The shadow can only be accessed through a limited number of means or access points. These can be geographical features, portal locations (a rug shop), or a specific ritual/condition (only on clear nights when the moon is in the sky).
Guarded - 4 points
A guardian or class of guardians will be set to intercept all who attempt to enter the shadow. The guardians' orders, of course, depend on the character who owns the shadow.
Character's Degree of Control Over Shadow
Control of Contents - 1 point
Character may specify/alter shadow's material, creatures, society, history, reality, and physical laws. An America where they never declared Independence. The hidden kingdom of Beyt-al-Shakar. The world of Spenser's Faerie Queen.
Control of Time Flow - 2 points
Character decides flow of time relative to Amber/absolute. A week can pass in your shadow while only an hour passes in Amber.
Control of Shadow's Destiny - 4 points
Character can place their shadow in another character's path. While this makes finding other characters easier, it can put your shadow in jeopardy if it becomes part of a major threat/war.
