Rules and Regulations

1. Posting frequency
This is a fast-paced game. It is not a rushed game, but players are required to post at least 4 times per week. Let the DM know in advance if you need a leave of absence for a few days, say if you have health issues or something else special coming up. No problem.

2. Posting style
This is a game with a focus on storytelling, character interaction and character development. Posts musts be written in third person, past tense. Each post must contain at least one meaty paragraph. Pick any color for formatting dialogue, aside from those that are reserved: which is orange for out-of-character text and red for npc dialogue.  Italic may be used for emphasis or internal monologue.

3. Closed posts
Posts should be open-ended, not closed. Construct your posts in a manner that advances plot or character interaction. Each post should invite a response from other players or expect some kind of description or result from the DM.

4. Mature content
This game contains somewhat mature elements, such as language, violent death, romance and elements of horror and the supernatural. It does not contain adult or extreme content. Maturity is expected from everyone, including out-of-character drama and player conflict. We're all here to have fun and excitement.

Character creation

You can choose if you want to use D&D Beyond (dndbeyond.com) for your character or the RPoL character sheet. Characters are created using point boy at third level, with all official game content allowed. Your RPoL character biography should have a portrait, 1 biography line with race and class and 1 line with HP, AC and PP (passive perception). You may also include your character history and physical description.

Curse of Strahd is a dark game in a dark and dreary world. That does not mean that characters have to be dark, evil, sinister, edgy or anything like that. In fact, in my experience, Curse of Strahd works the best when the player characters are faint lights of hope in a dark world; lights that can shine bright with hope, lights that can be dimmed and corrupted with darkness or be entirely snuffed out.
