In reply to Xaays (msg # 68):

Summarize questions you want to ask, information you are seeking in OOC and I'll post the results in the IC thread. As it's mainly legwork and PBP we'll summarize and not play out every conversation

Re: OOC Discussion

Xaays:
I had a long (internal) debate during chargen about whether to go ork (and focus on grappling) or elf (and focus on striking). I went with the latter not so much due to combat effectiveness but because I played a lot of orks in 5E but never any elves. My last elf was back in 4E so I decided to dust off the metatype to explore it again.

My last Shadowrun character was 3e...  I've played, 1e: Humie PhysAd, Humie StreetSam, Elven Decker; 2e: Elf StreetSam, Humie Rigger, Elf SocAdept; 3e: Dwarf PhysAdept Luchador, Humie Decker/Rigger, Dark Elf/Ghoul Phys/SocAdept Street Doc, Drake SocAdept Detective...

As I've never gone Trog, I decided this game's the game to Trog out in.  And may as well go the Face route and really play to the race's disadvantages.

quote:
High Strength is fun, but high Charisma has way more skills tied to it and thus many more opportunities to be helpful outside of combat. So I went that direction.

I understand, most of my "sammie" builds (cyber or Phys Adept) went 'precision', except for the Dwarf, he embraced the strength and went wrassler the whole way (with pistols back up, because he also never learned how rip people's limbs off from across the room).

quote:
By the way, Xays already volunteered (ICly) to approach Margaret Telestrian, so Glam's suggestion comes off as duplicative.

I somehow missed that (like I read it, and then immediately forgot it), go ahead and chalk it up to the Troll not completely paying attention and losing track of things.

Re: OOC Discussion

Apologies for the delay in getting a post up. Work has been kicking my ass & I'm up to my eyes in DIY on a timer. Need to get several projects finished before mini-me arrives. Hopefully I'll get a post up after work tomorrow.

Re: OOC Discussion

GM:
I was looking at the abilities of the die roller in terms of Shadowrun 6e. Unfortunately there is no custom rules set for this edition. It appears that the Shadowrun 4e rules will allow for the counting of hits but it misses two important options in regard to 6th edition.

1. The ability to roll a "Wild Die"
3. The ability to explode 6's

For this reason I suggest that we use the Shadowrun 4e rules but be aware that we will to manually explode 6's as necessary and that if a Wild Die is needed it should be rolled as a separate roll. If anyone has any better suggestions please let me know.

Okay, I was thinking about this just now (mostly because I was rereading the House Rules thread).

Step one, you should open the Die Configuration tool and Step Two set the Die Roller to d6s and "Record each die".  Step Three Profit "Set as Default".

That means we can set it to our dice pool, say 12d6 and a roll would look something like this*:

18:35, Today: Glamnarok rolled 52 using 12d6 with rolls of 5,6,6,4,1,1,4,4,6,3, 6,6.  Test.

Which I'd post in thread like so:

OOC:  18:35, Today: Glamnarok rolled 52 using 12d6 with rolls of 5,6,6,4,1,1,4,4,6,3,6,6.  Test.
6 Successes.

It also means you can designate "Last die is the Wild Die" and then treat it as so, occasionally rolling one more die as needed.  But we'd have to do that for Exploding Dice anyway.

* Okay, no lie, that was an awesome roll, I do not expect to ever get a roll that good here again.  Seriously, I just shot my load on a test.  *le sigh*

Re: OOC Discussion

Glam is right that you should check the box for "Record each die". This is important. The GM can set this as the default.

Furthermore, in the "Game System / Special Dice" drop-down menu you can select "Shadowrun 4th ed" which will automatically count your successes for you. The GM can also select this by default.

One catch is that 4th Edition used 50% as your threshold for glitches, whereas it's 51% in 5th and 6th edition. So occasionally the dice roller will tell you that the roll was a glitch when it wasn't by 6E rules (e.g. six 1s when rolling a dozen dice). That's why the "Record each die" box is important, so you can count how many 1s you really have. It's also important if you need to reroll certain dice, or only count certain dice (like for the Wild Die), or if you're using Edge to tweak the value of a roll up or down.

Honestly, I wouldn;t bother with this until they set a 5e/6e setup.  It's easy enough to just count 1s, 5s, and 6s and know whether you've hit Threshold, Glitched, Critically Glitch, are Edging and Explode all over your sixes...

Re: OOC Discussion

Well 5e launched 8 years ago and 6e launched 2 years ago so I'll be honest that I don't think those options are coming.

I think 60 seconds of work to set up the default configuration will more than repay itself after a couple rolls.

@GM Feel better soon!

@Everyone not named Glamnarok Can folks post a couple lines on their character descriptions (Character Details > Edit Description) with a high-level overview of your character's appearance? I can't remember some things which should be reasonably obvious ICly, like everyone's metatype.

Re: OOC Discussion

Still haven't done that char description (don't mind me, we're moving to Italy from US so it's been fun!)

Recapping:
  • Glam is face (reporter)
  • Glitch is Overwatch
  • Freemason is face and magic support
  • Xaays is face
  • Tu Bahd is overwatch and not-face
  • Find map/layout/blueprint of building
  • See if some of us can find a way in via caterers, maintenance, etc to get equipment in
  • Some of you are hitting up some contacts?

Does that all seem right? Sounds like we might have to make some rolls soon!

In reply to Tu Bahd (msg # 91):

Me neither, been putting a new floor in the family room. Work are sending me away on a course as well, that could go either way.

You don't want me as a face with Cha 2. I'm more of a merge into the background & feed intel type, with a little self defence face melting thrown in.

Re: OOC Discussion

I think Tu Bahd's breakdown is accurate, evidently with the exception of FreeMason as a face.

Is the only thing we're trying to smuggle in a cyberdeck? Are we even certain that wireless-suppression would be a component of the security? I'm not sure if the high-and-mighty would tolerate it, even under the guise of security. Maybe Glitch has asked already, but if not I'll ask the GM since it might be covered under my Knowledge Skills.

GM has been offline for a week and a half. Hopefully they're feeling better and are back online soon.

Re: OOC Discussion

I can dig that. I hope GM is good too, but I was under the guise of this being a slow mover, so I'm a chiller.

Tu Bahd will do everything she can to work out if she can get at least one of her guns inside, but she won't die trying to.

I'll let it be known that she has Security Systems knowledge, so if there's any other knowledge we can lump together, we could potentially make it less work for GM.

Re: OOC Discussion

I basically have the same one, with an extra noun ("Security Systems and Tactics"). I think I got the name from a previous edition; now that I look, I see that Tu Bahd's "Security Systems" is the example from the 6E book.

I also have an "Architecture (Commercial)" datasoft that may or may not apply depending on the definition of "commercial". In my head it would apply to a hotel but GM will have the final say.

I kinda made Glam around the idea of probably always being the distraction or the wall and letting everyone else get the subtle work done while our enemies are dealing with the Loud Obvious Distraction.

Ah, no.  Not really anything useful here... FreeCal Fashion, Lone Star, Boston Organized Crime, and Gangs of Seattle (KnowSoft).

Well... it's been 3 weeks since GM was online. I checked baldin.stonecrusher's other games and found the same thing, namely no activity since August.

Certainly hoping for the best, especially if baldin was "fighting sickness" - which obviously can mean something pretty heavy these days.
