Re: Big Ship (going down)

When they get close to the display which reads an atmosphere discrepancy on the other side of the next door Kattalin shuts and dogs the hatch behind them so the shift in pressure will be limited to the second deck, and not mess with the whole ship.  When done she turns back around and nods to the person closest to the door.

Re: Big Ship (going down)

After Shasa closes the hatch between decks 14 & 13 and secures it, Sancho opens the hatch between decks 14 & 15.

As the hatch opens there is an audible POP as the air pressure between the two decks equalize. As sancho moves to enter deck 15 he is met by a large bubble of water which hits him ten breaks up into smaller bubbles of water.

The bubble of water is followed by a leg encased within the greyish silver armor worn by the vessels crew.

Lookign within deck 15, Sancho can see numerous bubbles of water floating about, along with the body parts of one to three people.

Once again glad they are all wearing air, and thus water/bodily fluid, tight suits Kattalin gives the bubbles and body parts a few moments to settle into their new trajectories before she carefully pulls herself into the room and looks around to assess the damage.

Re: Big Ship (going down)

When the hatch first opened, Shasa warily inspected every bit of movement in her vicinity. After several moments of looking for a target, she followed Kattalin through the hatch to deck 15. The damage seemed extensive, but not irreparable.

The belter continued to scan the area for any hostiles, gun still in hand.

Sancho enter the engineering space and with his rifle at his shoulder he begins to clear the area. he takes it slow listening as he goes and trying not to hit another water bubble.

Re: Big Ship (going down)

There are no living hostiles on deck 15 and if someone were to count the body part they would find the remains of a man and woman floating about the compartment.

The water formed into bubbles due to being on the float are unavoidable.

Of the three crew stations on this deck only one appears to be non functioning as it has been perforated by PDC rounds. The other three crew stations, two are powered up and active.

OOC: I believe between Sancho and Kattalin (and maybe Shasa) the two have the abilities to restart the reactor. You’re not in in combat so I just need one player to make an Intelligence (Technology) and another make an Intelligence (Engineering) test.

Both tests are TN 14.

Kattalin takes a few moments to assess the room, and the tasks required, when the others have picked out their roles she takes the least desired one and does it with her usual efficiency.

Kattalin Zubiri rolled 18 using 3d6+7 with the AGE System with rolls of {6}, 4, 1.  +1 more if Technology.

[Private to GM: Not sure stunt points or even fortune mater still but if we are using them I will spend 4 to upgrade the roll to a 21 or 22 and gain 6 Stunt point to spend on High Tech Hustle (3) and When a plan comes together (3) to aid the other roll.]

Shasa looked around and nodded at the others. "Not my area of expertise, but we got people counting on us. Let me know if you need an extra pair of hands for anything. I call it in."

Shasa activated the communicator. "Bridge, this Engineering. All clear here. Looking to restart reactor. Stand by."

Once we are certain there are no living enemies down here, Yuri sets around the distasteful task of gathering all the body parts. Not something you want floating round a well-tempered spaceship!

Sancho slings his SMG and takes up a position on one of the consoles. He is having trouble with the unfamiliar ships systems and does looking like he is going to be any help at all.

Sancho Castro rolled 11 using 3d6+3 with the AGE System with rolls of {2}, 1, 5.  Intelligence (Technology).

Re: Big Ship (going down)

Sancho and Kattalin get to work on restarting the reactor. Meanwhile Yuri goes up to medical, retrieves a pair of body bags and upon returning begins the grisly task of collecting up the body parts, and placing them in the body bags. Not needed to help with the reactor, Shasa helps Yuri.

As these tasks are being carried out Kala’s and Van’s voices are heard over the ad hoc communication network as they initiate docking between the two ships. The vessel reverberates as the docking is completed.

A few minutes later, Sancho and Kattalin to get the reactor restarted. When they do, the lighting goes from emergency blue light to white light.

Re: Big Ship (going down)

When the lighting went white indicating reactor restart, Shasa pumped her fist. She voiced her appreciation to those responsible for getting things fixed. "Yes! Well done, big brains. Looks like you got her started again."

The belter went over to a console to check that they had control of everything, including the internal cameras. Once she was satisfied, she contacted the others. "All good in Engineering. We should all talk now, yes? Meet on command deck?"

Shasa looked over to Sancho and Kattalin. "You are done, yes? Everything will run okay without you here?"

Re: Big Ship (going down)

Kattalin is already starting to look around and get an impression of what the status of other systems are when asked, she looks up only long enough to explain before returning to her work. "The reactor is on, for now, but there are a dozen other systems that need to be booted up before we can do anything, if all you are going to do is sit around and chat for a while I will pass.  We can't bring these ships to a port any time soon so just do whatever seems likely to keep us alive until we can find a ship that we can go to a dock."

[Private to GM: In theory we could keep rolling for every repair job, but that is a whole lot of rolling, with a 10 low average on the dice and no other bonuses I get an 18, so we could just count that as a long term careful repair job instead.]

Shasa nodded. "Mi keng, sesata. I keep you in loop while you keep ship running, yes?" The belter tapped her forehead with her right forefinger at an angle, a signal of thanks and appreciation from the Belter to the Martian.

She then took her leave of the Engineering section, heading up toward the command deck.

Hearing chatter about putting some way on the ship, Yuri used a hand-held vacuum device to capture any loose water floating about.

Re: Big Ship (going down)

Kattalin and Asha finish vacuuming up all of the water, blood and gore floating around the engineering deck and feed it into the ship's recycler.

On thin deck alone a few repairs are needed. Two of the water tanks have PDC round sized holes going through them and need to be patched up. The crash couch at one of the decks four engineering stations needs to be replaced, a replacement chair would have to be pulled from another station on the ship.

OOC: I updated the locations of the characters earlier today: link to a message in this game

Characters staying on the big ship can assess the big ship for what needs to be repaired and prioritize said repairs, along with a few other things.

  • Moving chairs, and monitors from less needed stations to the more important ones.
  • Gathering the dead bodies (I need to look back to see how many there are, but one belongs to an NPC Belter) and putting in hermetically sealed body bags, then storing them on the cargo deck.
  • Dr. Abang Kaos has a prisoner that’s he’s sedated and strapped into one of the medical couches on the med deck
  • Policing up the spent shell casings, and bullet slugs embedded into the bulkheads
  • Vacuuming up the blood and core throughout the ship.
  • Patching the holes in the water tanks and the coolant tank.
  • Rail gun - feel free to make a roll to assess damage.
  • The damaged docking tube for the portside cargo airlock needs to be cut away, can be done during the interlude.
  • The hull damage will take some time to repair, can be done during the interlude.
  • Accessing the ships navigation core will require an advanced test and 3 PC's working together, this will need to be done during the interlude.
  • Accessing the ships computer core will require an advanced test and 3 PC's working together, this will need to be done during the interlude.
  • Accessing the ships navigation core armories and weapons lockers will require an advanced test and 3 PC's working together, this will need to be done during the interlude. But there are two prisoners that may be of use.

With the overly time sensitive problems taken care of, and the chaos of the ship slowing down Kattalin redirects herself to a puzzle that has been nagging at her for a while and brings up the available diagnostic programs for the rail gun. "We should finish our assessment of unknown problems before we address the obvious ones we know, but feel free to keep picking up loose bits while I work on this."

Kattalin Zubiri rolled 18 using 3d6+7 (5 stunt points) with the AGE System with rolls of {5}, 3, 3.  Engineering, Rail Gun assessment.

After a quick, but effective inspection of the Rail Gun's problems Kattalin returns to engineering, pulls up its entry in the diagnostic system and sets it to 'Replacement' status.  Then she moves on to the water tanks, to get some patches done before they need to use them.

Re: Big Ship (going down)

Kattalin and Asha begin patching the water tanks sot hey can once again be filled with water. Thye then move on to patching the holes in the inner hull as the rail gun rounds passed complete though the vessel.

They then suit up and get ready to go into the inner hull to continue the patching process. When they get to the inner hull hatch, they oddly find that the inner hull spaces are fully pressurized. There is no issue with the gauge on the hatch, as it is analog.

Re: Big Ship (going down)

Never having removed her suit Kattalin didn't really think about it herself, but when asked she seems to put it together quickly enough. "With all we have seen in the last few hours this is what seems unlikely to you?  With self patching body armor, and hull, why not pressurize the utilities areas. Even if you don't use them very often keeping the temperature and pressure up will reduce wear on components."

Re: Big Ship (going down)

Asha explained herself. "Yes the ship self-sealed itself, but how? The same way the crew's vac suit did?" Pointing to some of the places they just patched within the compartment she adds. "We didn't see anything different when patching the holes for this compartment."

"I think we should check inner hull spaces and see how ship self-sealed itself."
