Sorry about missing Ody's question, although it's already been partially answered. (The ships will be claimed as salvage.) When I get an answer from the GM about details I can reply more fully answer.

No worries, I figured someone would have a confirmation of sorts. I just didn't have the answer to his question, exactly.

Cool, and it's also poor form to not answer a question, although this was more accidental than on purpose. And I'm curious if Van has a detailed answer (per the GM) much less one he could or should go into detail about.

I gave Van an answer to his question.

I would like to also point out that the threads with the stats for the ships and the Timeline of current events thread has lots of good in character information.

What's the plan for going out?

I was thinking that since we don't know about the welcoming committee, Ody would be hiding behind the airlock (if possible) with a gun, to cover the people who would be going inside (in case they were ambushed) before even setting foot.

I have intentions of a gunfight occurring unless a PC decides to start shooting.

That said taking precautions is completely reasonable and IC.

For the purpose of RP, mind if I answer this in-character? That is, take this as a question that was asked.

I'll reference the idea in passing. It's not likely anyone would be ambushed when coming aboard the station. But a little caution is not unwarranted.

There is going to some interaction between Van and Issac, the guy running Babylon station.

In retrospect I should have had Issac post before any of the PC's posted going abord the station (may bad) because he does have some rules for his little kingdom.

I will get a post up after Van and Issac's chit chat where the station security people will check everyone for 'contraband' and the opportunity to return those items back to the ship.

“Is that the squeaking noise I hear from your cabin at night?” Asha asks as she looms menacingly, blocking your cabin door as she shakes a can of WD-40. She enters and the door hisses behind her the sound of spraying fills the ship.

In reply to Yuri Ivanovich (msg # 995):

I appreciate that, thanks. Like myself, Andy was raised Catholic but drifted away. He ended up going to church with his wife, who is Anglican. Reverend Patrick gave the eulogy, and I laughed out loud when he said when Andy was in hospital and wanted to discuss life and death, he had no idea what he was getting into. He said he'd never had such intense discussions about mortality in his life and I was not surprised. One example of Andy's thoughts was the following: we are made of matter, which is made of energy (E=MC2). The first law of thermodynamics states that energy can neither be created nor destroyed. Therefore the energy that comprises us will continue after our death into infinity as long as the universe exists. Very rational guy!

A good way to refute the idea that science and religion are somehow in contention, which seems to be a common fallacy - that you're either scientifically literate or you're religious, but you cannot be both. I usually say that they are tools for different jobs, designed to answer different questions. God and science can work together in the hands of someone who loves them both.

Thanks, I appreciate the kind words and I think Andy would like that. His wife Raili was worries about what to do with his enormous game collection, and so at her request it'll get sold or given away at the next local gaming convention (Trumpeter's Salute 2024) with proceeds going to charity. Unfortunately there was a small garage fire (not structure fire) a week ago. No one was hurt and it did not spread to the house. (Raili joked that Andy had wanted to clear out the garage for years before he got sick; now it will get remodeled as well.) However, Andy kept his prized vintage Mustang parked there. (He apparently rebuilt the engine using money he got selling old Avalon Hill games from when he worked at Hasbro.) I joked to her that surely God wouldn't be so cruel as to take both Andy and the Mustang! Thankfully, it looks intact under its dust cover from the photos she sent.

Nod, we did something similar with our late dads books. I kept some, but the rest we donated to the local library and school.

My Father-in-Law died in November. My wife noted that the palliative care ward where he was staying had a very sparse collection of DVDs and books. Perhaps Raili could do the same.
