If there is anything else a player would like to resolve during the interlude, please let me know (you can do this as an OOC not in a post) as I would like to move the story onward.

That said if the players what to continue interacting with each other in the various threads or strike up new conversations please let me know.

As I have not heard any yay or nays on crew quarter assignments, I am going to go with what I proposed.

I used up most of my hours and rolls already, so not much else to do but wait for things to play out. I’m just watching the interactions between folks now. Not sure if as a crew we’re all on the same page, but figure we’ve got time to hash that out.

Quarters are fine as suggested, figure we’ve all got rooms to grow once we’ve got some of the cabins remade.

I did find myself wondering why we have empty cabins, and multiple people squeezed into what could just as easily be private cabins that happen to have an extra bed in them.  Is there something wrong with the empty ones, were they damaged, or do they resist being reconfigured?

On the Apophis, of the three officer quarters, the CO and Chief Engineer quarters were all shot up in a previous engagement.

At least I was nice enough to put the Ba’al crew’s temp quarters on the troop berthing deck…..otherwise the normal crew quarters on the Apophis would be pretty full.

I also assigned crew quarters based on what specific duty a character has. Once the CO and Chief Engineer quarters are fixed up some moving can occur.

The warships in The Expanse are per Ty Franks on the ‘Ty and That Guy’ podcast are submarines in space. This means crew quarters are pretty cramped with only the CO and XO having their own quarters.

There are also you tube videos out there of how cramped crew quarters are on modern US and UK Navy surface vessels.

Also if you visit any number of the floating museums around the world of old warships they often show case how cramped the crew quarters are.

That’s if they had quarters and didn’t sleep on the torpedoes themselves…

Visited one of the UK subs when I joined the Navy, and the captain had as much room as a walk-in closet and a wash basin sink, he had to use the common crapper and showers, which were 30 seconds of cold water, I believe. So 10 seconds wet, stop the water, lather up, 10 seconds rinse, stop and 10 seconds shampoo, and 10 seconds rinse and done.

They also explained how they escaped the sub underwater… pretty fucking awesome — as you were propelled like a cork from the sub going 5 meters per second (I’d have to confirm the exact speed) until you broke the surface. No worries about the bends since the sub is already at teh same pressure as the surface air. Just  take a breath, hold until the airlock is full of water, and inflate your floatation device and breath out as you shoot up through the water…

What a rush.

And by "shot up" he means by PDC rounds so the furniture and fittings are trashed, even if the holes are patched. They could be cleared out of debris with some effort, but anyone sleeping in there would be doing so on the deck in the dark.

There are two more potential players joining the game.

One player has taken over Kala Sui so both ships now have PC pilots.

The other potential player may be making a felid medic type character.

Just a FYI that Odysseas is the ‘gut shot guy’ that the player characters dragged through Eros on a litter, stuffed into a heavy Vac suit so Yuri could carry him down the ladder in the mechanical shaft to the docks and then carried out side and airlock and into Apophis.

So the player characters are apparently not cold hearted peeps who would leave a seriously wounded man do just die on Eros.
