Both awakened more directly to the nature of this city than before, and reassured of her own ability to manage it Kattalin makes a point of only checking her hand terminal when well away from shadowed places, and keeping all her gear inside its sealed pockets or secured holsters when not in use.  Arriving in the Hyatt she takes a quick but not hasty look around to get a good impression for the place before approaching the receptionist in a less paranoid manner.  ”I am here to check in, I made a reservation earlier today under the name Kattalin, and I will need a list of all your amenities, and the highest speed connection you have available.”

When compared to the rest of Eros Station the lobby of the Hyatt Regency is clean, well lighted but is still a little shabby looking.

On a large vid screen another fight form the MMA tournament is occurring. One of the fighters, The Martian Mangler, is on his back and mounted by his opponent, The Spanish Viper. It looks pretty bad for the Martian....



The receptionist types into her computer terminal and looks back up at Kattalin. "Miss Zubiri is it?" Once the receptionist confirms Kattalin identity she continues. "It looks like we have you for a week in the penthouse suite, ma'am."

"I have set your room up with the highest extranet connection available. We have a complementary pool, spa, gym and massage parlor. Although happy endings at the massage parlor do cost extra."

"We also have an excellent restaurant, a clean casino and a gambling hall if you which to place bets on various activities here on Eros Station and elsewhere in the system."

"Last but not least we have the finest brothel on Eros Station to satisfy any and all of your sexual needs."

Kattalin seems to barely even notice the fighting taking place on the screen as she listens to the obviously prepared speech.  ”I think that is a bit more through set of amenities than I will be needing, but I imagine I can find some of it useful.”

Bringing up her identity, and confirming the purchase with the hand terminal she returns it to its locked state before sealing it away in the pocket that stores it, along with whatever access key the receptionist has for her.

The access key to Kattalin's room is loaded up to her hand terminal. A bell boy guide her to the room and carries any personnel item on a large cart.

Upon entering her room, Kattalin finds it larger then most homes on Mars. Along the walls are built in, recessed video monitors that show the exterior of Eros Station. One last video screen is meant for entertainment as the couches and chairs in the main room are situated towards it.

The master bedroom has a king size bed. One wall has a recessed video monitor that shows one of the docks where a massive ice hauler is docking. The text at the bottom of the screen says the vessel is the Salisbury. Another monitor for entertaiment is found in from of the bed.

The master bathroom has an an actual porcelain sit down toilet, a bidet, walk in shower with three shower heads and a large bath/jacuzzi with room for four people.

The second bedroom of the penthouse only has a queen size bed, a simple shower, but there is both a toilet and bidet.

More than a little surprised by the change in style from Mars Kattalin takes a while looking through the room's entire inventory of amenities, then through her own luggage to make sure nothing has gone missing, or suffered in transit while she thinks over what to do with all these options.  In the end it is the grime of travel among the masses of bodies that answers the question for her, the obvious reason such a shower could be important.

With that decision made she discards her armor and clothing into the suite's automated cleaning system and goes about the process of spending what any martian would consider much to long in the shower just letting it blast her with hot water from every spray head.

Kattalin is in the shower for quite some time before she realizes that there is apparently no water limit.

Not so much bored with the shower, but eventually Kattalin's own natural tendency for efficiency gets the better of her again and she turns the water off.  After taking a similarly long period of time to make use of all the other fancy bathroom facilities in whatever order seems most urgent to her at the time she dresses once again in the same outfit she had on before, the suite's automated cleaning system having no doubt done a similarly top notch job on it as the shower did on her.

Settling in on the bed to watch some of the local entertainment and familiarize herself with the publicly available version of the station until such time as she is relaxed enough to sleep, a thing best avoided on crowded space ships.

Kattalin finds that the local entertainment vids have a low production quality and are mostly rips offs of other more famous vid shows. But it is enough to get her relaxed enough to sleep.

After a lengthy sleep cycle, Kattalin wakes up to find that the hotel is not longer serving 'breakfast.'

The Eros Station News network is reporting that the price of water has gone down 3% due to the arrival of the ice hauler Salisbury. The daily statistics for local crimes reports that petty thievery, robbery, rape and murder are all up. The news blames this on CPM Security Corporation which is in the middle of replacing and upgrading Eros Station's CCTV system. The semi final bouts of the MMA tournament are set to take place in a few hours. In the men's division, an Earther, Martian, and two Belters remain. In the women's division a single Martian and three Belters remain. In off station news no change has occurred with the current standoff between Earth and Mars.

OOC: You can either get out of the hotel and explore Eros Station or stay in your room.

Without hardly even noticing the lack of breakfast options Kattalin orders up the half dozen most interesting looking appetizers of uniquely local cuisine and non alcoholic beverage options on the hotel's room service menu for delivery after another not quite as long hot shower and settles in to watch some of the local entertainment as a preferable option to the never ending parade of politics in the news.

Kattalin pretty much stays in her room all day and has anything she wants brought up to her by room service.

In fact the young woman loses track of time and it isn't until the early evening hours when the entirety of Eros station shakes as some sort of large explosion occurs somewhere on Eros Station. Kattalin doesn't feel any signs of the pressure dropping, so at least where she is at there is not any danger of vacuum exposure or loss of air.

But the announcement broadcast over her hotel rooms PA speaker in a female voice, and in several languages, does indicate there is a problem.

“Attention Eros station has experienced a radiation hazard breach. For your own safety, please proceed to the nearest hard shelter in an orderly fashion.”

The large video screen in front of Kattalin automatically switches to the hotel's emergency channel that has a text only message of its own.


The message soon goes away and is replaced with a diagram of where the hotels emergency shelter is located.

A text message on Kattalin's hand terminal is also from the Hyatt Regency on Eros Station and has the same information as what is on the large video screen.

More familiar with this kind of thing than any Earther, although perhaps not as much so as the truly fringe belters Kattalin reacts immediately, and logically.  She discards the bathrobe even as she is rolling out of the bed in the direction of her luggage.    Meer seconds after the first alarm started to sound, perhaps even before all the many and varied languages it cycles through are quite done explaining in detail what is going on, surely before its second loop through her own favored English, she is ready to face the world, at least inside the one trapped inside the asteroid with her.

Not long after that she has her weapon and tool belts on, and their appropriate items stowed securely, safety straps properly in place for travel.  Almost as an afterthought she tugs the small 'day pack' out of her luggage with the drone and space for one or two of the hotel's complementary water bottles, and the first aid kit, before she hustles out the door to see if she can find some member of the staff or local protection services with more information than the net is willing to tell her hand terminal in its massively overloaded state, no doubt from other similar requests.

Kattalin gets down to the lobby and sees her fellow hotel patrons filling into what appears to be the hard shelter. Two people from the hotel are taking any bags being brought down and putting them on a cart. A few of the hotel patrons try to argue but the hotel staff are heard making statements that there isn't any room. Right as people go into the hard shelter, a pair of people in odd looking silver vac suits are administering an ejection into everyone's neck.

The emergency announcement continues to repeat itself in several languages.

Already hanging back from the line's progression to look for a way around the people trying to steal everyone's stuff Kattalin takes in the unsolicited injection for only a few moments before she decides to take her chances with something that looks a little bit like lambs being lead to the slaughter and ducks out of the hotel completely, in search of some darker side street or ally way where she can get lost for long enough to do some kind of independent verification of whatever story the public alert is selling.

Outside the hotel, Kattalin finds people moving about very hurriedly. She finds that the transit tubes are shut down. Going down a tunnel that appears to be for housing or apartments, stopping about a hundred feet from the main tunnel she checks her hand terminal to find that it has no network connection.

Back the way she came a voice yells out towards her. "Hey girl wat ju doin' down ter?" A second voice follows the second. "Ya' need to go to a shelter girl, come we help you find one tat not yet filled, kay?" The source of the voices is back near the main tunnel and Kattalin can see three silhouetted figures....

Quickly bringing up a stored copy of the station map on her data pad, even if it is an older one, Kattalin gestures in the direction of the people approaching her with the visible screen as she speaks to them in what is hopefully a sufficiently confident voice.

Even before she is finished talking she starts to turn and walk way, throwing the last comment over a shoulder while she checks their reaction.

As Kattalin starts to turn and walk away one of the people says something. "Hey girl alto, STOP!" a new, third female voice adds in: "We CPM Corporation an' need to conduct search!"

Now that is a clear warning she can't ignore.  Already in motion away from them Kattalin keeps moving at her brisk but not abnormal walking pace for as long as they keep shouting without moving, but is ready to bolt the moment they try to close the gap.  All the while searching on her map for a likely place to find a good combination of crowded enough to slip away, and open enough to move through quickly.

The three persons identifying themselves as CPM Corporation give Kattalin one last ultimatum without even moving towards her.

"STOP! or we will SHOOT YOU!"

Looking back, Katalin can see that at least two of the silhouetted figures have long arms (i.e. Rifles or SMG's), and have point them in her direction...

Kattalin keeps moving at a quick but not rushed pace away from the people shouting at her, and in the direction of the nearest other exit to the alley way, along the way she starts to dance, almost skip around a bit as if she were listening to some sort of music through unseen earbuds, perhaps not able to hear the guards at all.

Kattalin runs down the alleyway moving in a dancing like fashion. She feels an impact on her back followed by a second before her ears are even able to register the gunfire. The impacts knock her to the ground, lying face down.

Behind her Kattalin can hear the three thugs approaching and shouting more orders.  "Stay down BITCH or we will shoot you again!"

OOC: Your condition is 'prone' and you cannot charge or run. Getting up will cost a minor action, and it will take your second minor action to try and run. Rolling over onto your back to face the thugs would also be a minor action. Defending would realistically only help against any melee attack (if they decide to charge you to get into melee range) since you can't really move to evade or take cover from the gun fire.

You can of course just give up...

Kattalin rolls over onto her back and opens fire on the nearest of the rifle users, clearly the sound of gunfire threshold has been crossed, it doesn't do any good to try to avoid something that has already happened.

After her own shot rings out she returns the thugs taunts.  ”If you wan't people to trust you, try not shooting them in the back.”

With Kattalin firing at them, the three thugs try to seek out the best cover available to them, which isn't much in the alley other then the small alcoves where doors are located.

One of the thugs with a rifle opens up on Kattalin with a short burst, and she feels the sledge hammer like blows to her chest as the trio of rounds hit her center mass. The Thug takes partial cover in a door alcove to the left of Kattalin.

The second Thug with a rifle fire and misses Kattalin as she hits him center mass, the man makes an audible curse "Puta!" as he finds a door alcove to partially hide behind along the right side of the alley, and is closest to Kattalin.

The third Thug, the woman with a pistol fires on Kattalin while speaking into some sort of communication device: "Dis team 23 need backup, we in housin' block tre fo' seven AY!" Kattalin feels a lighter hammerblow to her torso as the other woman's bullet hits. The pistol wielding woman takes cover in a door alcove furthest from Kattalin along the left side.

The first thug with a rifle takes careful aim and tries to shoot Kattalin in the head...but with the woman rolling on the ground toward the wall he only hits her armored vest.

GM note: I've actually seen this during training with sub-munitions where a guy wearing a helmet with a transparent face plate somehow got hit by a paint ball bullet fired from a M92F Beretta in the chin.

Kattalin is satisfied to see that she hits one of the CPM Corporation thugs in the face as she reaches a door alcove and some cover. Despite being shot in the face the man keeps firing at her and while the aim is well off it is enough to keep the Martian woman pinned down as a pair of canister type grenades land near her. Before she can do anyting about the grenades the both go off in quick succession with a loud BANG and a FLASH that blinds and disorientates her.

The next thing Kattalin feels is a violent kick to her midsection, then her face. She fires her pistol but then it too is kicked/knocked away. Unable to do anything she does her best to protect her face/head and neck from subsequent blows until the plummeting stops.

Kattalin is then sat up with the barrel of a rifle placed up against her temple. The female thug then stripes of Kattalin's backpack and begins to go through her pockets taking anything of value and stuffing it in the bag. Then her shot up body armor is pulled off of her, apparently so the female thug can check for personal items in more intimate places.

Holding up Kattalin's hand terminal the woman delivers a demand.
With Kattalin's own pistol is raised ready to be brought across her face she really has no choice put to unlock the hand terminal.

With nothing but her shoes, pants and the shirt she was wearing Kattalin is then zip tied around the ankles and wrists. Then four of individuals arrive wearing some sort of silver/grey vac suits. Three of whom are carrying bigger rifles with top mounted grenade launchers.

One of the four newly arrived men (the one without a rifle) address the female CPM Corporation Thug.




The man then motions to one of the other men wearing silver/grey vac suit.


Kattalin is then gagged by having one of her own clean socks stuffed in her mouth and another two tied together and wrapped around her head to keep it in place.

The older man then addresses the three CPM Corporation tThugs
The group of men in the silver/grey vac suits begin walking down the corridor.

The man Kattalin shot in the face, now wearing a bandage delivers several kicks to her stomach and chest before leaving. As the group of CPM thugs begin walking in the opposite direction of as the individuals in the silver/grey vac suits she hears the woman addressin others on the radio.



OOC: The CPM thugs took everything of value.

Until you get to a banking/financial institution at another port, or gain access in another manner your income is temporarily at zero.
