Kattalin Zubiri steps off the shitty transport that took her from Ceres to Eros and is immediately hit with plethora of pungent smells. These allow smells live up to Eros' reputation as the ass crack of the Belt.

With others pushing up behind her, the young Martian woman has no choice to move forward. There are no customs checks whatsoever as Kattalin moves out of dock 1D and onto Eros itself.

Not wanting to get stuck in the press of bodies, even the generally lighter weight belter ones, Kattalin keeps up with the flow at least until it starts to split off into other passages and generally defuse into the pulse of life in tunnels she is familiar with.  The oh so obvious advertisements baked into the welcoming speech draw a bit of a smile to her face, but none the less she will be needing somewhere to stay while she is here.

To that end Kattalin finds herself a relatively quiet, and likely wildly overpriced, restaurant to begin both the process of eating something with more taste than the pre packaged nutrition bars she used to avoid the even more questionable ship's galley on the way here and researching local establishments of at least modest quality.

Kattalin walks past a kiosks which is serving what could probably be best described as Eros space rat as several small four legged animals are being cooked on a rotating spit. Another food kiosk is serving kabobs consisting of chunks of questionable meat, some sort of breaded fried something or another, and slices of what appear to be onion and bell pepper. A third kiosk is serving meat patties between tortillas. After walking past several kiosks, Kattalin finally she sees the neon sign for the Hard Rock Café Eros.

The neon signs outside the establishment boldly advertises, (in rotating languages) that all the meat is vat grown, fruits and vegetables come from a well-maintained organic garden, and breads are cooked on site.

With the usual types of food in the belt consisting of soy bean based noodles, mushroom paste, insect protein farms, and vat grown meat the Hard Rock Café Eros is probably one of the more expensive places to eat on Eros.

Kattalin is seated in less than a minute, the restaurant isn’t that busy and the few other patrons look like they come from an income bracket several steps above those eating at the kiosks.

Searching for a place to stay on her hand terminal, Kattalin is dismayed to see the listing is in alphabetical order. As she scrolls down the list, she sees many names like The Best Belter Inn (which she had seen back on Ceres), The Blue Falcon, Dee Dee’s, Franks Shag Shack and Go Go’s before seeing the recognizable names of the Grand Hilton Eros, and Hyatt Regency Eros. Further down past a list of odd ball named flop houses was another familiar name, the Marriot Suites Eros.

The Best Belter Inn (a play on Best Western) is the cheapest (for you), place to stay and yet secure enough to retain your internal organs.

The Marriot suites are about mid priced.

The Hilton, and Hyatt are the most expensive, and even advertise a spa and swimming pool.

Quite surprised to see that such a popular destination as the Hyatt even has openings Kattalin quickly sets up a reservation for their largest room with the best available view either of the station or of space outside it for a week, thinking that should be plenty of time to look around and decide where to go next, or at least be more certain she will need to extend her stay.

Finishing her food in a more leisurely manner now that the most important step is done she starts to sift through the data on the local net to see what kind of interesting things there are to do on this station that are both reasonably safe and something you can seek out rather than what fate and chance seeks you out with, all the while pondering how a low gravity pool would work.

I got this out of the dice roller, which looks like it works a bit better, I seem to remember that doubles do something sometimes, but I don't recall if you need to have a specific feature that draws upon them, or if they do it automatically.  If that were an investigation roll for Eros itself I would think the stunt Intuition would be the most appropriate, to notice that something odd is going on with the station data systems.

The Chinese text you set up was visible to me, on the private setting you used nobody can see any of the languages we don't have, which is fine for the obviously repetitive narration voice, or private comms channels, to see the encrypted text it needs to use the language setting.]

As Kattalin eats her food and scrolls through her hand terminal one of the video monitors is showing a live mixed martial arts fight that is part of some big MMA tournament.

A man with Slavic features and a platinum blonde crew cut faces off against a dark skinned man of Pacific Islander. As the fight begins the two rush in towards each other and begin to trade punches and kicks.

On her hand terminal, Kattalin receives a notification that her room at the Hyatt is booked. There are no room with direct access to the exterior of Eros, but there are video screen which   are linked to external cameras. A route from her current location to the Hyatt is also provided.

Going back to pursuing her hand terminal she comes across a few interesting items in addtion to the MMA tournament.

• An ice hauler currently in port is looking for a privateer to provide escort.
• There are quite a few ads looking for qualified hackers who can do jobs 'with no questions asked.'
• The Eros Stations CCTV system is down for maintenance and upgrades.
• The news feeds continue to show Earth and Mars slinging accusations towards each other regarding the destruction of the Canterbury, an ice hauler, and the destruction of the MCRN Donnager.

More than a little distracted by her investigation of the station and it's quirks the last of Kattalin's food is well on its way to room temperature when she remembers to finish it off.  Collecting her things she clears the table herself, putting everything in the correct reprocessing receptacle out of habit on her way out.

On her way out of the café she checks the directions one more time then heads off for the Hyatt's local incarnation to go see what it will have to offer in the form of amenities and access to more information about some of the unusual things going on around the station.

Kattalin begins to follow the directions on her hand terminal to the Hyatt. The tunnels and neighborhoods she passes through on of Eros Station are reminiscent of Mars but are much more run down then the Innis Shallows.

Having the look of an outsider, some street urchin sees the young Martian woman as an easy mark, and attempts to run up, snatch Kattalin's hand terminal way from her, and then run away.

Even while not quite watching her surroundings with a paranoid eye Kattalin notices the unusual approach of the street urchin, a rare enough thing on mars to draw attention any time you encounter one, and snatch her hand terminal away from the grasping hands, holding it closely to her abdomen with her left hand.  Not quite simultaneously, but close enough that most won't notice she draws her pistol in a quick and practiced motion and while still holding it in a ready close combat stance low and near her body and points it quite obviously at the urchin's center of mass, but instead of pulling the trigger as she so obviously could she speaks to the urchin in a clear and direct manner, far more martian than most belters have likely encountered.  ”This is your home, so I will let you live with your mistakes, but don't go telling any of your friends that my mercy has anything to do with weakness unless you want to see them bleeding out in the gutters.”

Kattalin gets about half way through her speech before the pre-teen aged street urchin runs off.

Going about her business, Kattalin makes her way to the Hyatt without further incident. The female receptionist at the Hyatt is sporting a pink mohawk, and delivers a pre determined greeting.

"Welcome the the Hyatt Regency on Eros Station. Ho may I help you today."
