Rules and RTJ (Read this First)

The Medjay of Aegyptos is a D&D 5e Fantasy game, inspired by Ancient Egyptian mythology and pulp fiction like Robert E Howard and Edgar Rice Burroughs. This game is for you if you are interested in...
  • Playing good-hearted human heroes searching for answers and a way forward
  • Exploring a primal world with forgotten secrets and new things to be discovered
  • Working together as a team

Like the pitch, this game is an expedition into the unknown with a team strangers. I've been in games that have crashed and burned because people would not cooperate, and I'm hoping to avoid that fate with this one. Here are some simple rules for our group that will hopefully keep this game alive and help us all have a good time! ^_^

  • 1) Don't be a jerk: Running a roleplaying game is a group effort with an end goal of everyone having fun. As GM I'm not playing AGAINST you, and you're not playing AGAINST me or your fellow players. We're all part of the same team, so be kind to your fellow teammates. Don't be rude, passive-aggressive, overly hostile, or destructive. If you are, I will kick you from the game.

  • 2) I make the final call: In the event of vague rules or conflicts of any type, my decision is final. Please trust me when I make them because I run games with this philosophy: I'm rooting for you to succeed.

  • 3) Posting Rate: In my experience, pbp games are more successful if you treat them like marathon rather than a sprint. I'm looking for a minimum posting rate of 2-3 times a week. More is better (like once or twice a day, and especially in combat), but not necessary. RL happens to all of us, and I'll give you a heads up if it looks like it will slow me down. All I ask is for the same courtesy.

  • 4) Have fun: This is so important I'll say it twice: Have fun! If you are having fun, then I am having fun.

If you are interested in the pitch and agree to the rules, feel free to send an RTJ. Please include the following in your RTJ:

  • 1) Character Name, Class, and Background (note: you can use any WotC material that fits the Ancient Egypt motif---think medieval level of technology that you can find on this site: https://5e.tools/index.html)

  • 2) A short summary of your character that includes personality and personal goals. I'm keeping the world details vague so I can build them around character ideas, but please keep things reasonable (please see the setting thread for inspiration, and no need for character sheets or pages of text).
