Re: Off Topic

[Lyndis raises her hand] Oh, me! Dwarves aren't all that common in her homeland, but she traveled a lot. Ran into quite a few dwarves over the course of her life.

Hahaha! Oh, man. Lyndis is rolling her eyes so hard at poor Milo. Reminds me of a character I used to play: a gnomish bard who rode a goat. She bedecked her goat with bells and ribbons. The party ranger used to joke that the goat constantly pleaded for death to take it. But, my bard didn't believe it. What goat wouldn't love to be festooned?!

I'm not sure if I feel more for poor, confused Milo or the rest of you.

Scratch that, I feel most for the npc's.

She USES it. You have been warned.

I'm glad you can Lyndis. I'm a little too far off the mark for Dwarves.

Re: Off Topic

Dwarves in Milo's world would be, like the Light Elves, based on the ones from Nidavellir in norse mythology.

So they would be literal titans who forge masterwork artifacts effortlessly, and reside in a boiling hellscape.

Judging how Milo is not covered in third degree burns and is not at all a blacksmith, he's never even met a dwarf, and thus cannot speak dwarvish.

Milo probably knows quite a few languages, because of his past occupation could have included infiltration, but he wouldn't know ones that are spoken by the superior races.

Also I'm sick of this personality already haha. I plan for Milo to drop it and reveal himself as soon as he realizes he's not being pursued anymore. He still hasn't cleared the other PCs of his (unfair) suspicions.

Who knows? Milo's suspicions could be well founded. There's no telling what stone monkeys and necromancers are planning! Tricksy, they are. Uh-hmmm. [nods sagely]

Re: Off Topic

In all seriousness, can anyone thing of a good magic for a halfling sailor to have?

I'm not familiar with spells as I don't play casters and can't think of anything useful.

It can literally be anything. Conjure muffins if you want. Elevator music. Shape change. Literally dance on air. Whatever your flavor.

In reply to Bob LaMane (msg # 44):

Maybe something dealing with wind? A sailor would definitely need good winds to get them about in the ocean.

Create/summon water? If he sails on saltwater, then being able to have clean drinking water is important.

Rope magic of some kind? Knots. All the knots.

Re: Off Topic

Loose ideas for you to work with: Rope tricks. Anything water-based. Animated rapier. Make daggers appear/disappear. Languages. Enhance gambling tactics (cheat the dice, insight into how successful your next hand will be, etc.) Disguise. Contol wind.

The one downside of this magic system is that it is SO open that you get choice paralysis. And having never presented an idea for it, I can understand you all wondering what the balance should be. I don't have an immediate answer for that but I am fully willing to work with you to establish it. So far everyone has been very reasonable with their selections. And if you pick something I don't think is powerful enough, I'll give you ideas for enhancing it too.

Re: Off Topic

You're a sailor? Why not have a simple water-based attack spell? You could call it 'Aquabolt' or smth... Being able to breathe water could also be good in an emergency.

If you were a navigator on your vessel, you could have some kind of compass spell that lets you know which way is north, or what distance it is to a landmark you've visited before?

I wonder if we got everyone, including the skeleton, to hold the net as high off the ground as they could, we might catch the dwarf? Maybe collectively, we're tall/strong enough to do it?
