There were a lot of attractive, powerful students-- there was no mistaking the power!-- running around.  But nearby, a shy girl was sitting in a corner, looking around uncertainly.

Alicia went over to the girl.

"Hi, I'm Alicia."

"Oh!  Um, hi?" said the girl.  "I'm Luisa... I'm pretty new here, and this is all a little overwhelming."

"It is, yeah," Alicia said. "I was homeschooled before this."

"...so, uh, what do you like to do for fun?" Luisa asked.  She clearly wasn't sure what to say to that.

"I read a lot. Books and stuff on the internet too," Alicia said. "You?"

"I read a lot," Luisa said.  "...and I listen to lots of music.  It really takes me away."

Alicia nodded.

"Yeah, I get that. What was it like when you awakened? It was really weird for me. I mean, one minute I was perfectly normal and then suddenly I knew a whole bunch of mystical secrets and my eyes went all red!"

"It was strange," said Luisa.  "It was like... an eye opening that I didn't know that I had.  I suddenly saw everything in this entirely new way, like the whole world was brighter.  I knew how to move in ways I never knew before, too."

"That is pretty cool," Alicia said. "I guess it must be different for everyone."

"It stands to reason," said Luisa.  "...it sounds like you learned magic, though.  That sounds cool."

"Yep!" Alicia said a few words and waved her hands in a ritual fashion, slowly calling her weird spear from a portal. It came out slowly, spear head first. The crystal that bade it up floated a few inches before the strange red rod that made up the base.

"Nice trick," said a voice from behind Alicia.

Alicia turned around to see who it was.

An asian girl who... Rosa felt strongly and strangely drawn to, in fact.

"Ah, thanks," Alicia said, blushing. "My names Alicia and this is Luisa."

"I'm Rosa," said the girl, sitting down to join them.  "Good to meet you.  So.  Magic spear?"

"Yes! And also magic in general," Alicia said. "What about you?"

"I have a sword," said Rosa.  "But not with magic spells like that.  I keep it here..."

She raised her left arm; there was a tribal tattoo of an abstract sword-shape on it.

"That's cool!" Alicia said. "What about you Luisa? Do you have tricks like that?"

Luisa nodded.  She plucked out one of her hairs, held it between her hands, and it grew into a bow.

Perception

(OOC: Perception Check - Alicia Green rolled 14 using 1d20+7)

...Luisa was demonstrating how arrows grew out of the bow as she drew it, which had Alicia's attention for the moment.

"That's pretty cool too," Alicia said.

...Aaaand there was a hand on Alicia's shoulder.

"Beloved!  I've found you again, at long last!"
