The group seemed to separate, with Snoric working on muffin despite his wound (gritting his teeth) amalia over his shoulder. Allura and Yana went to Gundren and had a shock, where the unconscious drow was lie a unconscious humanoid with few features and grey skin.
Osmon and Solgran decided to inspect the keep, starting in the room where the owlbear lived. The room was the base of a tower, now little more than a ruined room with The upper floors of this tower have collapsed to create a hollow silo at least thirty feet high, and the upper reaches of the room are lost in shadows. Dust, rubble, and broken glass cover the floor, and old worktables and bookshelves lie strewn to the south.
The two looked around and it was quickly obvious the beast was not a trained animal, but more a prisoner. Up above where teh second floor once was, a ledge remained with a battered chest, the wizard's sharp eyes seeing it's corner.
Solgran brought the chest down easily and opened it, having a small pouch of coins, a red potion the human recognized as potion of healing and a leather scroll tube containing two scrolls.
Next they searched the room with the litters, finding nothing of use but rags and rotting food. The two went past, noting the unconscious being .
The two went into where the big bugbear lay and where Gundren was found. moving all the things, you find the bugbears flail, large, smelly and damaged hide armor, and a sack stitched under a mattress holding some coins, three more potions of healing, and a map. Gundren watched from the door and got excited.
"Damn me....it's th' map! They told me they sent it away ter this spider bastard!"
He reached for it, wincing and looked at it, smiling.
By the time they finished that, Snoric, Amali and muffin, (looking a bit beaten, but functional) came to the dwarf and unconscious enemy, who showed signs of stirring.
The next area had almost completely collapsed, although the ground floor still has a little open space. Rotting crates and ancient barrels show that provisions were once stored here. A heavy curtain blocks a crumbling area to the south, and an intact door leads east. To the north, a short passage through the rubble ends before a screen of canvas.
The next area was lucky that Solgran was vigilant.
The high, narrow hall looks as if it might have been part of a chapel or shrine at one time. Angelic figures are sculpted along the room’s upper reaches, looking down on the floor below. To the north, heavy curtains block a matching pair of archways. Between the archways is a cracked but ornately carved stone brazier.
High in the room, the barbarian saw movement, and alerted Osmon who called the others. The beast, as strange looking as it was, barely reached the ground before the attacks happened, With snoric's weapon, Amalia, alluras and Osmon's magic and Yana's bow. The final blow saw Solgran slamming his hammer into the beast.
Dragging the now conscious but groggy grey figure, Gundren followed and looked impressed.
"A grick - not a bad kill." Osmon searched the place, along with Snoric and yana and found a gold statuette of a sun elf wrapped in crimson cloth hiding in the brazier.
The rest of the keep was relatively empty, with a few more coins, a shrine holding a The chalice, knife, and censer and in one of the guard towers five spears, four longswords, three morningstars, two greatswords, and a fine quarterstaff, engraved with stylized feathers, and is surprisingly light.
It was several hours later when the keep was well and truly cleared of enemies, and you all felt safe, other than the beast, which reverted to the drow woman, glaring at you all despite Gundren's keeping a spear on her.
<OOC: Ok guys, this is the end of the chapter - if you would like to do something specific with the enemy, talk to gundren or such, let me know IC in this thread.
I will open up a new thread within 48 hours detailing what you found in terms of coins, and such. If you want to inspect for magical items, you will need to take the time to do this, either here or back at town.>
