1 - Adventure begins.
Yulin spent the evening shopping, finding what merchants she could to aid her in preparing for her sudden departure. Clothes, cosmetics and essentials she had; she even had a custom-tailored suit of leather armor gifted to her by a prospective patron in Waterdeep. What she failed to consider was armaments and she was very displeased to have had walked into a weaponsmiths to seek blades for the journey ahead. Such primitive means of conflict resolution were above her and while she appreciated the glory and spectacle of violence as much as any of her race, she was more one to watch than participate. The greatest of tales were told when blood flowed. Yulin would just prefer to do the storytelling than the bloodletting. So, she settled on a rapier and a dagger, both delicate and elegant weapons. Her decision made more on the beauty of the blades as accessories than any sort of functionality in combat.
Following her shopping she held true to her word about a bath and later in the evening was comfortable and content in the steaming waters of the Last Respites common baths. She sat in the bath, her head laid back on a folded towel and her eyes closed, a small grin on her face in the knowing that all eyes in the establishment would be on her. She had visited a place in Waterdeep with an admiring noble once, a strange place that the human referred to as a 'zoo'. It had all sorts of primitive creatures for the humans to point at. Bathhouses reminded Yulin of the zoo, only in reverse; she visited so the primitive creatures could ogle and stare at her in astonishment and amazement. She always liked the attention, the wonder bordering on worship, the simple-minded and yet lovable creatures curious and yet abashed.
She awoke the next day, far later than dawn, in her rooms at Mateo's Inn. It was a simple establishment and not one she ever admitted to living at, she would never admit her wealth fell far below her taste. But hopefully that was about to change with the Gundren mountain creature's excursion to Phandevin. She looked out of her window with disgust at the morning frost and sighed as she wiped herself down, set her hair and got dressed. Today it was elegant travelers’ attire, a shaggy rothé-fur coat in grey and brown covered tight leather pants and well-made leather boots. Under the coat Yulin wore a green cotton blouse with a ruffle neck and cuffs. Her lyre and coin purse were on her hip and multiple necklaces and rings, all colored gold, adorned her. Breakfast was delivered and eaten in her room as she readied herself.
She ended up in a small argument with the inns staff that morning as she requested someone to carry her chest from her rooms to the Driftwood Tavern and it wasn't until she had paid three of the standing staff two silvers each that one agreed to carry the trunk across the city.
So it was that Yulin arrived at the designated place, well past the designated time, dressed in an elegant fur coat and jewellery and with a human carrying a heavy chest of her clothing, costumes and belongings. Dumping the chest into the bed of the wagon the human, red and out of breath from the journey gave a mocking bow which Yulin waved away without thought.
Despite her warm clothing she shivered in the cool morning and drew her coat close around her. The black snake was nestled in the furred collar, attempting to sun itself in the morning’s feeble rays.
