The man looked at Meridan, chewing his lip. "No harm would have come to you or them - you were to be transported to the master's keep."

"Mercy is relative and often misunderstood." I step forward to relieve the cowering man of his weapons. "You have wronged many people who feel they have a claim on your life; what do you offer that we should deny them?"

Killing the half orc had heen satisfying.  Very satisfying.   As she moved to her sister's side, she looked at the sole survivor of their enemies, and contemplated whether or not to remedy that situation.

She pondered her options, as her trigger finger itched.

Solgran let the mage's body fall limply to the floor, and turned his head to look at the final redbrand. The woman behind him placed her hand on his shoulder and he turned to look at her. The woman spoke, but no words came out of her mouth. Solgran seemed to hear them, however, as he responded to her words and placed his hand on hers, nodding his head.

The woman stepped forward and into Solgran's body, causing him to stand taller, more confident almost. He turned back toward the thief, and tears rolled down either cheek as he went into motion, "When evil wreaks havoc in the world, it is because we have failed to stop them. An ordinary foe might deserve mercy, but those whose orders they follow are the greater evil, and those leaders," Solgran swung to take off the man's head, "deserve no mercy.

Everyone watches as Solgran speaks, sword in hand, his tone even and low.  Darwin knew what was coming. "Don't be hasty....i ca..."

The human swung his sword and all fell silent.  Darwin looked surprised his eyes wide, his hands comming up to his neck, just as his head fell from his shoulders.

22:31, Today: Solgran Farnzythe rolled 25,12,24 using d20+5,2d6+5,d20+5 ((20,2,5,19)).

Solgran's blade cut through the man's neck like it was a simple stalk of corn. Darwin's head left his shoulders, tumbling to the side and bouncing off of the north wall at a spin. The spectral pitchfork shot out from Solgran's chest, one tine sinking into the man's head and the other into his mouth. Solgran kicked the body over so that it fell against the wall rather than spilling blood into the room, then he took the shaft of the pitchfork form the spectral arms that held it, and tossed it down to the ground alongside the body.

"Those who could grant him the mercy he sought are those they have killed who cannot speak for themselves." The blonde woman's spirit left his body, and bowed her head toward him, then faded away to nothing.

Snoric watched in a mixture of horror, revulsion and annoyance as Solgran went on his rampage murdering helpless or surrendered foes.  These people maybe deserved it but surely this wanton murder made the group no better.

"Maybe next time, do you think you could leave at least one for questioning?" Snoric growled as he holstered Ultio.  "Dead prisoners tell no tales.  They might have know where Gundren is located."

Mumbling about bloodthirsty barbarians to himself, the gnome went to check the room secret doors and traps.  If none he returned to help with the examination and looting of the corpses and collecting gear.  He was especially interested in carefully packing up the alchemy equipment.

Yana blinked in surprise when the beefy barbarian beheaded the rogue.  She smirked, and shrugged as she pondered some the man's last words.
quote:
"No harm would have come to you or them - you were to be transported to the master's keep."

She spoke to her friends
"Well, as far  as I could tell,  he wasn't lying.  HE wouldn't have hurt you.  Of course,  he was definitely holding something back.  Something he didn't want to share.  Like what would have happened after you were taken to this 'Master'.  I appreciate your efficient enthusiasm, Solgran, but perhaps next time we wring a bit more out of them before we send them to their gods?"

After making sure that Allura was alright, Yana helped the gnome search the area and deal with her specialty, locks.

With the chaos all but subsided, Snoric and Yana (After checking on her sister) went about searching the vast area. Each enemy had their own gear, with Darwin having several daggers (one a stand out difference to the others that looked like a huge bone or tooth), studded leather armor and thieves tools.

The half orc had a breastplate of steel, and the maul she used, the handle looked like the same rusted color of the huge block of steel in a hexagonal shape, but in reality the metal was a different hue.

The magic user had a spell component pouch, ring, a staff made of what looked like crystal and a ring with a steel band and a lappis stone.

The room itself had much more that excited Snoric and osmon. The scrolls and books consisted of mostly magical and alchemical theory which if taken to a library or collector, could fetch a price. Snoric found a book that he became excited about as it was written by a dwarven alchemist and inventor. The brief skim through showed many things that could be useful to him.

Along with that, several scrolls were found, as well as two spellbooks, both with overlapping spells. The final two items found were two chests, both locked.

the two set about opening the locks almost like a race, but the two opened the chests and opened them up.

The group searched the place again once over, to make sure all was clear. they took their time and realized that there was no one left to fight. the group allowed themselves to relax a bit, gathering all the gear they found into a pile, allowing Malice and Allura to rest a little, and even though solgran had a few wounds, he was content to search and guard.

It was several hours later when the group were done with their scans of the place and the cataloguing of the loot. The group, tired, hungry and wounded, needed to decide what to do next.

<OOC: Ok...this is the end of this scene.

The gear you found in this last place is as follows.

All three men have common clothing, with two pouches each.

Half orc
Maul
breastplate
Dagger

Darwin
Dagger X4 (one that looked like made of bone or a tooth)
Studded Leather armor
Thieves tools

Mage
Staff
Dagger
Spell component pouch
Ring

The room had many documents related to arcane theory of all aspects, as well as alchemical recipies and such which could be used by a library or collector

Journal of the mage

Several letters

Scrolls X5

Two chests containing the following

Chest 1
- Cloak
- Wand
- Amulet
- Pouch containing gold stolen from townspeople

Chest 2
- Two bunches of hand crossbow bolts (About 15 each)
- 4 potions (two you recognize as healing potions)
- Ring
- Pouch with 400 gold
- Several gemstones.

Solgran shrugged, "Not five minutes ago I offered one we had subdued with sleep to be questioned. No one spoke up then, when the offer was made. No one showed even the slighted bit of interest. Dead prisoners tell no tales, but they also don't kill any more innocent townspeople, and that is why we came. We know from Meridian's this man was no innocent and had no mercy to give her. I believe I made my intentions of killing red cloaks quite clear when we came here."

Allura stood there her eyes looked to Solgran and then flickered to her sister after the bolt struck the half orc. The blue glow dimmed slightly as she looked downward for a moment.

Seeing the mage dealt with everything was in slow motion. She raised her hand when Darwin asked for Mercy but she was out of view and still moving slowly. He was killed before she could get her dry vocal cords working.

When Yana checked on her she made the white hot flames on her sword vanish and indeed the sword itself was sent off to wherever her mystic weapon went. She wrapped her arms around Yana. "Thank you."

As the group moved about during their rest she looked to Amalia, "I think I have you to thank as well, I saw a moon while I was...in darkness."

Of course, Meridian thought Darwin was lying to save himself. Before she could push further, though, Solgan lopped off his head. She winced from the gory spectacle, but truthfully felt a little relieved that her tormentor was dead. “I would have preferred dispatching him myself, but at least he’ll torment no one else.”

As they searched the loot, Meridian noted several items of magical seeming. She looked them over, searching doe anything familiar. “The Redbands took everything that I own. Could I possibly trouble you all to let me replenish my supplies?”

OOC:

12:36, Today: Meridian rolled 19 using 1d20+4.  Arcana: Identify magical items.

Re: 2. Phandelvin

Snoric eyed the human squarely.  Was he lying about asking or did he just do it when he was off scouting?  The gnome decided it actually didn't matter.  Clearly the barbarian was a bloodthirsty brute but it raised the questions of the others and their morals.  Was he with the right group?  Should he strike out alone?  These people were probably the best chance of finding Gundren.

He went to respond but seeing how nobody else seemed to be overly bothered, in fact some seemed to agree with Solgran, the gnome sighed and walked off to finish his scouting.

OOC: Snoric had left the room to scout south after the room with the sleep spell so wasn't present for the executions.

Yana hugged her sister.  She looked at the barbarian as if she had something to say, but then shrugged and kept silent.
"What's done is done, I suppose."

Releasing her sister, when the other woman was ready, she nodded to Meridian.
"I suspect we can help you find your lost things, or replenish them, if need be."

Amalia went to Allura the moment the rogue surrendered and started treating her severe wounds, smiling when the tiefling told her about the moon she saw.

Thank Selune that it wasn't your time to go, Allura. I can help you pray to Her if you want.

Concentrating on her treatments, she didn't note the drama behind her and only reacted when the rogue's head splattered on the ground.

What the hell? Didn't he surrender? What happened?

We should have brought him to the town guards, to be judged. He would probably have been hanged anyway, like he deserved, but we can't afford to be like them.  Yana is right, he might have had information we could have used.

Sighing, she got up, and looked at all the papers on the table, before finding a bag and picking them up.

I guess we'll have to find our information in those then.
