You can see the domed, underwater marvel that is Atlantis come into view.

This really wasn't Levi's best day swimming, but that was okay.  She was fine with Art winning this time; the rivalry was the fun part!

"Atlantis is so amazing," she said.  "I really ought to visit it more often."

"J-Just give me a second," Aquaman said, clearly very out of breathe.

"Oh, sure," said Levi.  She floated around, observing the city from various angles.  So amazing!

"So, what do I need to know about who's who in Atlantis these days?  I never really got to visit it much before..."

"There is Mera, my fiancé," Aquaman said. "And Garth, my ward."

"Okay, cool," said Levi.  "I'd really like to meet them!  But is there anyone I need to watch out for...?"

"I am suspicious of my half-brother Orm. He is currently my advisor, but I worry he's plotting something," Aquaman said.

"Got it," said Levi.  "Well, when you're ready, let's go!"

Arthur brought you to the royal library. There were books and scrolls laid out on a table.

"This is everything we've managed to find. It seems that some of the ancient Atlanteans managed to escape the sinking by traveling to an alternant world. It goes to reason that perhaps someone on this or the other side did the same recently."

Levi looked them over carefully, in great detail.  With her speed, it wouldn't take long.

It does lay out a rather complicated ritual that with a blood sacrifice, one could open a portal to a "Mirror World". The ritual doesn't make much sense beyond that, given you have no experience with magic.

"Well, it's magic, so I have no idea how this would work," said Levi.  "But where have you been seeing things?"

"We haven't found a pattern yet," Aquaman said rolling out a map of Atlantis that had x's on parts of it.

You can see a bit of a pattern, most of them somewhat near the palace.

"...I think a lot of these are near the palace?" said Levi.  "It's hard to know what to do about them unless I see one."

"Hmm. You're right. The problem is that the palace is so large, that doesn't narrow down what they could be after," Aquaman said.

"Well, talk me through one of these incidents," said Levi.  "What happens?"

"It's mostly been citizens seeing people they new in strange places, dressed as soldiers while they knew the person in question was elsewhere," Arthur said. "They mostly seemed to be scouting out the location."

"Soldiers scouting is bad," said Levi.  "Hey, can you change your guard's uniforms, make them something distinctive to minimize confusion with these new people?  And, um, you should probably step up security on strategically important places.  Like, a lot.  Make sure that doubles can't just order the guards on the armor or power rooms to let them in or something."

"The uniforms are already different and I've got as many guards as I can spare stationed here. The palace is where we keep most of our most powerful magic," Aquaman said.

"Well, good," said Levi.  "Try and be ready-- if they look like you guys, they could have spies learning your plans.  Try and account for that, I guess."

"Would you like to stay to have a meal as a guest of honour?" Aquaman asked.

"Sure, thanks!" said Levi.

Aquaman (and some guards trailing behind) lead you to the dining hall. You do recognize Aqualad there. He smiles when he sees you. There is also a beautiful woman in green with long red hair as well.

"Leviathan, this is my fiance, Mera," Aquaman said. "Mera, this is my good friend Leviathan."

"Hi, Levi!" Garth said.

"I'm sure you remember Aqualad."

"Good to see you again, Garth!" said Levi.  "And it's a pleasure, Mira.  How have things been here?"

"Mostly good, Arthur has been worrying over this new issue," Mera said. "I take it that you're here to help us. I thank you for your help."

"Oh, it's no problem," said Levi.  "...I can't do that much about the magic that they may be using to come here, though.  It's not my field at all."

"Still, Arthur has talked about you quite often," Mera said. "You are a powerful warrior."

Levi laughed awkwardly.

"Well, I suppose I am," she said.  "...it's not my first choice of thing to do, for certain reasons, but yes, I can fight to protect Atlantis."

"She's really good at science!" Garth said.

Levi laughed awkwardly at that.

"Well, I'm very good at life sciences," she said.  "I'm all right at the other parts of it.  I mean, I'm good, but I live in a city with someone who's a better physicist..."

"It's certainly interesting. Atlantis has focused mostly on magic," Mera said as the servants began to bring in the meal.

"Magic, huh?" said Levi.  "Do you have a way to test for magic?  See if something magical is about to happen?"

"Oooo! I know this one!" Garth said. "It depends entirely on what's happening, but generally yes."

"So do you have some sorcerers looking for the incursions?" Levi asked.

"We'll try, there are...other matters a lot of them are busy with," Aquaman said.

"Got a lot of other stuff going on?" Levi asked.  "Like what?"

Aquaman looked over at Mera.

"Since you are a friend of Atlantis...we found several powerful artifacts in newly discovered ruins," Aquaman said. "Most of the mages are there investigating them."

That sounded a bit dangerous...

"All right," said Levi.  "Well, you obviously shouldn't ignore that.  Um... how's Orm doing lately?"

"He seems fine. I haven't seen him today and he declined the dinner invitation," Aquaman said.

"Well, he might not like outsiders," said Levi.  "...but he might also realize that if you're all here paying attention to me, you aren't watching him.  But he's got other chances for that, so it might not mean anything."

"What's your favourite food, Aunt Levi?" Garth asked. "I like that seaweed salad they make all the time."

"Well, lots of things, honestly," said Levi.  "I like tuna, but I also like the little bony fish, like sardines and anchovies.  All the bones are good for you!"

"Those are pretty good," Garth said as he dug into the food.

"Yep!" said Levi.  "I'm still growing, too, so I need lots of protein and minerals."

"Really? Aren't you a grown up?" Garth asked.

Levi laughed awkwardly.

"Well, I am... but I haven't stopped growing.  I don't think I'm going to anytime soon, either."

"But you're already so big!" Garth said.

"Well, yes, but not really," said Levi.  "I'm very big for a human or an Atlantean.  But I'm tiny compared to so many things that live in the ocean, or even on land!"

"Yeah, going on land is cool! There they have all kinds of villains to fight! Like the Fisherman or Creature King!" Aqualad said excitedly. "Pow! Bam!"

"Garth dear, I know you're excited, but tone it down a bit," Mera said.

"Well, don't you have some villains in the water, too?" said Levi.  "I know the Fisherman goes out to sea, for example."

"Yeah, but his base is on land!" Garth said.

"That's true," said Levi.  "But your real advantage on fighting him would be to be in the water, if you can arrange it."

"Oooh! That makes sense!" Garth said.

Arthur cleared his throat, as if to say something but a soldier burst into the room.

"Your Majesty! I bring news!" the soldier said.

"Out with it then," Arthur said.

"We are under attack, your Majesty! They came through mystic portals!"

"To battle then," Arthur said, standing and looking at you. "I will humbly request your help."

"Well, of course!" said Levi, stepping clear of the table.  "Which way are they?"

"This way!" the soldier said, heading out of the dining hall and brought you to atop one of the walls. There you could see a large group of differently dressed soldiers, being led by a woman who looked a lot like Mera.

"All right," said Levi.  "I'll go soften them up."

She was abruptly right in front of the Mera-alike, and she ROARED.

The shockwave, underwater, caused cavitation bubbles and sonoluminescence.  It was spectacular.

Area Damage 13

The attack blew back several soldiers, leaving just the Mera lookalike.

"Siren," Aquaman said. "Makes sense that it'd be you."

(OOC: Initiative.)

Aquaman swam forward and crashed into several of the soldiers, knocking them about like bowling pins. Garth came in as well, taking one out.

Levi went straight for Siren, intending to give her a powerful swimming punch.

All-Out Attack 5 gives me a 15, Damage 16

Siren dodged out of the way of your punch and slashed at you with a hard water sword.

20:15, Today: Leviathan McNaught rolled 34 using 1d20+18 ((16)).

The hard-water splashed off Leviathan without any effect.

"I'm sorry," she said, "but I'm a bigger, scarier monster than you."  And she went for a headbutt.

All-Out Attack 5 is 24 this time, Damage 16

The powerful blow stunned Siren, leaving her soldiers to grab her and start to flee back into the portal.

Levi roared after them again as they retreated.  If she inflicted damage now, it might discourage them from trying again.

Your attack sent a small group of soldiers flying through the portal.

"Are there any more breakthroughs?" Levi asked.  "Is anybody hurt?"

"It went surprisingly well, mostly thanks to your help," Aquaman said.

"Good, good," said Levi.  "Um, they had Evil Mera.  If they have Evil You, that could get bad, with all the sea life around here... or, wait.  You could probably cancel each other out, right?  That wouldn't be too bad."

"Siren isn't really an evil Mera," Aquaman said. "She's Mera's twin sister."

"Oh," said Levi.  "...wait.  So she's not from a parallel world?"

"She must have been the one that stole the information on the ritual to try and recruit an army," Aquaman said.

"Ah," said Levi.  "...she got away.  Sorry about that.  You might have more trouble later."

"I doubt that dimension will be interested in invading again," Aquaman said.

"Yes, but she may try something else," said Levi.  "...she might not find a better opportunity, though."

"We'll be ready," Arthur said. "Thank you again. I can award you a medal if you'd like."

Levi laughed.

"That's all right," she said.  "We all contributed.  I was your guest at dinner; I helped clean up.  That's all!"

"You are a friend of Atlantis though," Aquaman said. "You or your friend are welcome anytime!"

"Thank you," said Levi, bowing her head.  "I'm honored, Art.  Is there anything else I can do to help here for now?  I ought to get back soon.  I'm sure the press is going to want to ask me questions about everything that's happened lately."

Arthur laughed.

"No, no, you've done enough."

"All right," said Levi.  "Well, um, keep in touch."

She returned home to check messages... and maybe give that cute reporter from the Daily Planet a call if she hadn't already called.  You know.  Just to be sure.
