I dunno. Currently Arty thinks Arabella is the prettiest girl ever but I can see him changing his mind as fast as Romeo.

Re: Hagrid's Happy Hour (OOC )

only a  14 charisma in my current build :P but good to know :) keep in mind Kate's doing her best to make it as difficult to see details about her face or form as she can in this scene.  She's very ... shy/awkward/socially distanced, due to her childhood :)

Re: Hagrid's Happy Hour (OOC )

Only a small part of the Charisma attribute is connected to physical attractiveness.  It also governs your innate social aptitude, some amount of strength of personality, and any sort of leadership potential fits in there too.

Re: Hagrid's Happy Hour (OOC )

Magic isn't invisible to Muggles. Dementors are, a fact that nearly gets Harry thrown into Azkaban. Remember he performed the Petronis charm in front of his cousin to ward off Dementors, which his cousin would have seen had he not been catatonic.

Re: Hagrid's Happy Hour (OOC )

my understanding, which may be a misunderstanding of the magicial liason office's functionality, was that the muggle mind misunderstands what it sees much like how the mist effects mortals in percy jackson.  Its not invisible, but what they comprehend is a skewed.

Re: Hagrid's Happy Hour (OOC )

First post in thread:
Snape's Ghost:
The Leaky Cauldron, Tuesday, August 16th 2018, late morning

The constant rain beating down on the streets of London had certainly caught nobody by surprise - not the muggles - because as everyone knows, muggles constantly talk about the weather as if it was the most important thing in the whole universe - and certainly not the wizards and witches, who employed specially enchanted weather houses which actually worked, unlike the muggle trinkets supposedly based on some sort of science.

What did surprise the wizard and witches - not the muggles, of course, as they knew nothing about the wizarding world - was that this lousy weather was also present in their favorite shopping street - Diagon Alley. It was not that there wasn't ever rain in Diagon Alley, indeed there were sometimes even storms, especially in winter when the magical weather control insisted on snow even when the rest of the city, that is to say, the muggle world, was drenched in the usual rain. But in July and August, when most students about to go to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry were shopping for supplies, great care was taken to have no rain and at least not all the sky full of clouds. Research had shown that students did a lot better, including spending their money wisely, when the day's weather was as positive as it could be.

For whatever reason, the weather magic was off, though, which was easily concluded from the wet wardrobe of four sour looking, middle-aged wizards and one witch, all of them standing shivering in front of the bar, ordering tea and sandwitches (not an error, those artistically sliced sandcakes really looked like witches on brooms). The witch sneezed and got out her wand, conjuring up an ongoing blast of hot air, which did not only help to dry out the wet folk but also raised the slightly chilly temperature inside the pub to somewhat akin to a sauna for a moment.

"What's with the weather, now? Could you not do anything to fix it?"
the innkeeper asked, polishing a glass so fervently it was obvious that she was not all that happy about the situation.

"Now now you try to fix something when you don't know what the problem is,"
one of the wizard said, sneezing and coughing.

"Then you obviously find out what the problem is! Seriously, what do they even train you for..." The admonishing of the slowly drying group went on for a bit.

You've all entered not too long ago, probably being fascinated by the charm of the old pub if you haven't been here before. Figures that on the day you finally get to do your shopping something like this would happen.

Re: Hagrid's Happy Hour (OOC )

Yup. Kate’s post responded ti Snape’s last post by introducing herself at Gringott’s. The rest of us were yet in the pub. We’ll see about getting there.

Like I said, Constance may not win Mum of the year, but she probably won’t let a child run off to investigate magical twisters!

Re: Hagrid's Happy Hour (OOC )

Rus according to my friend our French has so many minor errors and syntax issues its obvious we're not native speakers :P you may have noticed my edit on the last one, i thought i'd run it by her and she corrected my grammar. Also apparently we're speaking formally?

Re: Hagrid's Happy Hour (OOC )

Yes, I have been making sure to use formal words. Use of the word Vous for You instead of Tu (informal). I am given to understand there is a conversation most French use to shift from formal to informal with one another if they are peers. I am also aware enough that my google translated French is terrible. I can read and follow a bout 60-65% of the conversation without it but cannot type most of it.

I am sure the lack of idioms is also a big tell as well as simple syntax and grammar when native speakers would use more complex forms naturally. Also, colloquial stuff and we certainly don't use southern accents. Not even sure what that would look like in text.

Anyway, it works for RPoL. Even if i wish I had better French.... my circumstances make other languages more pressing to learn. Alas, my language ambitions are constantly thwarted.

Right now, I am slowly absorbing Mandarin Chinese...
