Re: DUNGEON 1: THE DERELICT SHIP GRAVEYARD

The owl-Aarakocra seemed to be waiting for the two to arrive.
Good Day to you.  My name is Downytouch Lightbreeze.
A friend of mine said his cousin and family lived in these parts.  I promised him I would visit them and say hello.
However it seems this place has a bad case of souls that do not know when it is time for them to sleep.
It has prevented me from finding them.  So when I heard your footsteps I was hopeful.

Your not sure how but the owl beak seem to have a friendly smile on it.

"You have family here, we might know where they may be located. Most of these floating mazes of ships house monsters or cultists but there has been some indication of at least one place that may be more peaceful. My name is Evan my friend here Renee."

Mmmmm, wings.

"I rather doubt they live in the ships themselves.  Perhaps the rigging?" Renee offered, eyes repeatedly flicking to the strange creature's wings.

Downytouch answered.
I am please to meet you Evan and Renee.
I have no family here it is my friends family.  They are very good at hiding but I never thought of looking in the rigging.   Thank you for the advice Renee.
And so what are you two doing here?  This place is not the sort of place most people would come out too, for an afternoon stroll.

"Well, we are trying to clear away the evil things that have settled in this place. If you want help finding your friends family it might not be a bad idea joining us. We are stronger together."

Evan smiles.

"My story's pretty simple - the mayor hired me to investigate, and I like history."  She shrugged her acquiescence to Evan's offer - more bodies meant more safety, even if the bird triggered her hunting instincts.

The Owl thinks for a moment.
It would be wrong of me not to offer my help to you two.  He again smiles at the two.
Also the pursuit of knowledge is a noble thing.  Which ever branch.  History is indeed a fascinating thing.
I think it only right that I join you until you are both safe.  Please lead the way.

OOC:
Downy is a 6ft tall powerful bird of pray.  So the question is which one Downy or Renee is the hunter and which would be the pray (not one I like try work out)? :)

Although if they teamed up I think most animal would be in big trouble.

Welp, the roll involved a 6, so:

Move Forward:
--On a roll of 6, choose one thing from the following list.

· There is a person, some persons, a monster, or some monsters here! On a 6, you spot them first.
· There is something valuable here! (It might be hard to get ahold of it, though...)
· You find something hidden here! (It may or may not be Loot, but it will be of interest...)
· You find a clue here about something nearby. Take +1 die toward your next Move Forward roll.

There are no monsters in this new area, but there's a message that's been carved crudely onto the wall:

I AM DOWN IN SALTY DOG WILL HELP YOU
INSECTS ON WAY, SORRY
ELEMENTALS ON UNICORN WATCH OUT
FIGUREHEAD OF MORNING STAR MAGICAL WATCH OUT
VIPER MOST DANGEROUS

Renee notes that the message has a few magical sigils around it that should hide the message from being noticed, but she and Evan and Downytouch can all see and read it. Guess everyone in the party of adventurers are the sort of readers the message was meant for.

From here, there's choice: forward (and a little to the left) toward the Unicorn, or downward, deeper into the hold of the Salty Dog?

"Oh, this looks fun.  Magically hidden, semi-cryptic warnings in an abandoned ship?  If that's not a trap I'll chase my tails."

Despite the words, Renee's eyes lit up and her mouth quirked into a delighted smile.  Trickery was fun, and how could any self-respecting kitsune not join the game?

"Let's walk into it."

I am happy to follow you two.  I feel you have a better understanding of this place and the message we found.

He then turns to Renee.

Asking in a polite way.  Do you often chase your tail Ms Renee.

The bird is trying to understand the meaning behind what she just said.

You all enter the new area...

In each of the two far corners of the room, on the ceiling, are large dragonflies, each at least 3 feet long and 3 feet wide in wingspan.

(16:28, Today: The GM rolled 2 using 1d2 with rolls of 2.  1, they're mad 2. they're cautious.)

They buzz anxiously once the adventurers are fully in the room, but they don't attack immediately-- possibly they are briefly intimidated by being outnumbered?

The hesitation is only brief, though. The nearer dragonfly spurts a little breath of fire from its head... (they are dragonflies, after all).

It's clear that they will attack in the next instant, unless the adventurers do so first...

(Tempting as it was, these are not bosses nor minibosses, so the normal rules apply.)

Downytouch steps to the side.  Flaps his wings once and cups his hands.  As small amount of water appears.
Fellow Creatures of the air.  We come in peace.  We are just passing through as the wind does on our wings.  We wish you no harm.  My hands offer clean water to show my good intent.

Downy tries to convince them the group will not hurt them and allow the group to rest a little in this area.  The Dragonfly's can keep watch over the group while they rest.

OOC:
00:13, Today: Downytouch Lightbreeze rolled 8 using 3d6 with rolls of 1,6,1.  Talk It Over (1) Base Dice (2) CHARMING (3) If using cleric skill or help from other players.
Seems Downy is such a fluffy creature, everybody loves him.

There's a sort of calm moment where the wind outside the ship and the pounding of the waves against the hull ease up, and there's a moment of tranquility, as if Downytouch's god was blessing this moment with something holy and sacred.

(Talk It Over: When you ask something from someone willing to listen

Talk It Over: When you ask something from someone willing to listen

09:11, Today: The GM rolled 3 using 1d4 with rolls of 3.  4, works for a second, 1-3, it doesn't.)

And then the dragonfly nearest Downytouch breathes a line of fire at him. Ow ow ow!

(Downytouch takes 1 Harm.)

Guess that holy-feeling moment was a coincidence...

Re: DUNGEON 1: THE DERELICT SHIP GRAVEYARD

"Tasty bugs shouldn't play with fire, lest they become a snack," Renee said, smirking as her eyes tracked the flames striking Downey, pouring her powers into the sparks flying free and jinxing the dragonflies.

One spark flew back toward the bugs, landing on an old greasy rag that ignited instantly, sending a plume of flames upwards and roasting the two dragonflies in seconds.

"Mmmmm."

OOC: 18:07, Today: Renee rolled 4,4 using 1d6,1d6 with rolls of 4,4.  Get Violent w/Downey assist.

19:23, Today: Renee rolled 2 using 1d6 with rolls of 2.  Missing Get Violent roll.

The dragonflies are not immune to fire, for all that they are able to breathe it forward, and they are soon dead.

The flames get a bit out of control, though, burning Renee as well before they die out.

(Renee takes 1 Harm.)

Careless of me, Renee thought, wincing at her burns.  At least they weren't too severe, not that scarring mattered to a shapeshifter, but shifting always left her feeling achy for hours.

"Jinxes and misfortune are not the safest magics to control," Renee said, shaking her scorched hand.  "Entertaining and versatile, though, so worth the risk.  And, well, I'm none too skilled with foxfire."

OOC: 01:21, Today: Renee rolled 3,1 using 1d6,1d6 with rolls of 3,1.  Make Camp.
