I'm not even sure that Chaosites do cards, as such.

((I thought she had one to report and keep in contact with her family ? I mean how else is she going to do it ? Chaos does not have mail. Trumps seem a common phenomenon throughout Amber/Chaos.  If that is not the case and there is no means for her to contact and speak with the duchess then I wouldn't have asked Thelik to leave as she wouldn't have needed any private time.

Please let me know if this is the case but it is a pretty big decision since Amberites and Chaosians have relied on trumps to get help, survive, and provide escape when necessary in the books.

I don't remember Chaosites doing it (except obviously Merlin, but only with his father's side of the family)...

...Even if I'm proven wrong, which I'm willing to admit could be possible... Allura doesn't have a card for the Duchess, though...

If what you're saying is "Allura wants to report in to Caryx HQ," I can come up with an embassy or something...? (You might have a slightly easier time if you let Thelik in on what House you're with, though...? I can see not doing it that way, too, though...)

Merlin is the only Chaosite example we get to see but we also see Dara but again if you want you could say her relation to Benedict makes her different. Still Merlin does say doing the trumps was learned in Chaos not in Amber part of their standard training along with poisoning, fencing, and other dark arts when he is describing his life in Chaos.

I am ok with going to an embassy if needed but it does create a disconnect for me from a typical Amber game where Chaosians have trumps. Dworkin learned it from Chaos it was not something he just developed on his own even though I am sure he would love to claim it. ^_^

I don't remember which it is but Merlin is telling someone in his family about his life in Chaos growing up. It's not Corwin it is someone else and he describes the things every Chaosian learns just to survive as a matter of course. He didn't learn trumps from anyone in Amber he came to Amber already knowing Trump Artistry.

Of course a lot of people (Myself included) don't love the Merlin chronicles so if you want to dismiss them like some GMs you can but even dismissing them many GMs keep trumps for both Amber and Chaos as a norm so the thought they don't exist really is a break from what I am used too.

Assuming the Duchess upon giving me the mission gave me her trump was also kind of a standard thing for me. If she didn't and trumps do exist then it would mean two things to Allura. Plausible Deniability or a Suicide mission, or both.  Normally in games if an elder assigns you a task they give you their trump to allow you to keep in touch.

*Note* Not arguing with you at all, just letting you know what I am used to and the norm, I get from other games, that is the only reason I was so surprised by the thought she doesn't have her trump or even more so trumps at all.

Mm, I'm okay with Merlin's 5 being canon, speaking generally...

...I have decided:

1. some Chaosites have cards

2. not just anyone can do them, since they have to be connected to the Logrus

3. they aren't called the t-word

4. The more important you are, the more likely you might have 1 or more other people's cards, but it's a big trust thing, since it's possible to attack people through them mentally too

5. Allura doesn't have one for the Duchess, she'll have to either go home and talk or find a Caryx embassy. Thelik can help with that, but she can figure it out herself if she doesn't want to reveal her House to Thelik

She needs to look for that embassy if she dies this info should still get back home.

Since I sometimes seem to have the most time on Sundays, and since today is one of those times, (and since most people on RPol seem to be just the opposite when it comes to Sundays,) I was just re-reading the last dozen-or-more posts on this game. It was kinda fun while it lasted!

Ever think about getting back to it?

Or have my other games spread you thin enough as it is?

I had fun here. I haven't been as available as usual life has been to say the least rough.
So right now I like my more light hearted characters. My stepfather has cancer and is going through radiation therapy. While that would normally be the roughest thing it's not. Just a lot going on.

Still I did enjoy trying out the other end of the universe here.

I completely understand. A friend was like "I'm playing a lot of Darkest Dungeon these days" and I was like Ugh. I need a (video) game called Brightest Dungeon.

I am having a lot of fun with my First-Edition Hobbit game these days where there's no such person as Sauron and Bilbo's Ring wasn't evil (and neither was Gollum), just a fun ring of invisibility.

Things got rather darker once J.R.R. thought of Sauron and realized he needed to edit the first book so that Bilbo's ring was evil all along. So we're playing in the pre-that-edit world!
