Most of the papers on the desk don't seem interesting, but Allura sees one document on the desk that catches her eye. One note on it reads: 4 bl. Cr. to Jaros for priv. conslt fee. Splcstng. BRY. It's dated this morning (okay, it's so late at night now that I guess it's technically yesterday morning)... It's the urgency of the way BRY is written that catches her eye...

"Mr. Calba, yes. You know Mr. Calba don't you ? How long has he been with the family ?" She asks Thelik absently though she is very interested in that document.

"Probably he was simply tired at the end of the day."

Giouri thinks Allura's talking to him. "I don't speak to Mr. Calba very often... But I reckon he's worked for Sawall all his life..."

Thelik just gives a little shrug, like he's not really interested in Calba, so he lets Giouri's answer stand...

Then Thelik glances at the door, like he's asking Allura "are we ready to go...?"

"Alright then, are we done with our full check ? According to my knowledge we are done, but if they gave you additional instructions ?"

She turns to Thelik expecting him to say no.

"I'd say we're ready to go, ma'am," says Thelik.

"Alright then, excellent. Sadly though other then Giouri, here's excellent work. Those locks will need to be reported as substandard and in need of immediate replacement. It's a good thing those will be the only things that need replacement."

"Still that is why they have us do these security checks even on the less important holdings. I guess it is up to them if the want to talk with Mr. Calba, though I am sure that will be a private matter."

Giouri just looks anxious... He seems ready for these two strange people to leave, too...

"Alright then Giouri, you did well. We will be leaving our report wont take more then a week, you will say nothing of this because we are testing other security measures in other holdings. You already understand this I am sure. I just want to make sure you know and don't ruin the security check of other House Sawall matters." She then nods seriously and makes her way out with Thelik.

She of course memorized the 4 bl. Cr. to Jaros for priv. conslt fee. Splcstng. BRY. notation for her own matters.

"Come on," says Thelik once they're away from the building. "Let's go back to my place-- taking a long and winding route to make sure we're not being followed."

Follows Thelik, "Ugh, that was horrible."

"It... was problematic, yeah. But on the long walk back here, I thought that if I get asked, maybe I can claim that everyone knows what I look like in human form, so maybe someone just shapeshifted to imitate me. I'm glad I didn't have to show my true form to that guard...

...So anyway, we got away without getting, like, in trouble-- yet, anyway. So let's compare notes. You go first. What'd you read that was possibly useful, anything? I got the impression you thought you found something...?"

"I did find something."

"4 bl. Cr. to Jaros for priv. conslt fee. Splcstng. BRY. Do you know a Jaros ?"

"I've never heard of Jaros, I don't think, which is a tiny bit suspicious to me right away. But 4 blue crystals is a lot of money. It's actually low for an assassination, but not for the destruction of a demon-- especially if Jaros is a demon too. And I got a handle on the accountant's notations: 'priv. conslt' is 'private consultant' or 'private consultation,' which means basically anything that they're paying someone with specialized expertise to do, or else to tell them how to do. And 'splcstng' is obviously 'spellcasting.' But the biggest one is BRY. That means BURY, as in bury it in the books so no one ever notices it later. I think we might have found the payment to an assassin. Which tells us almost nothing, except we have a name now. Even if it's not Jaros' real name, it's something."

"Yes, we can take that name perhaps to your friends ?"

"Yeah... but in the morning. Let's rest up so we're ready for anything. Remember, you've had half-a-night's more sleep than I've had."

(Chaosites don't always need to sleep-- they can go for days without food or rest if they want to-- but after this particular night, it's not hard to understand Thelik's desire for sleep, especially since he wants to stay sharp.)

"I will guard you while you sleep then."

Allura does just that putting her back to a wall and making sure to watch over Thelik.

Morning! Or what passes for it in this world-- a green-blue glowing orb rises over the horizon.

Thelik awakens. "Hey... so I guess today we start trying to find out info about this Jaros guy-- or gal-- huh."

Allura nodded, "You bet !"  She smiled, "I think maybe I should disguise myself."

"Oh yeah? Like how?"

"I don't know but that guard saw me, and I would rather hide ugh." Takes on her demon form.

"How do I make this look different ?"

"Maybe thick robes ? Something to put on the horns ? Oh, I don't know." Follows Thelik but seems nervous and worried.

"Sure, I can get you a thick robe-- people'll think you're one of those Black Road pilgrims... You want me to get you one...?"

Allura has not heard about these "Black Road pilgrims."

"What are black road pilgrims ?"
