Aeon 1, Age 2  Legends and Myths<Card Thread>

AO calls forth power to imbue his gods!

OOC: Please make a note of these cards somewhere, as you'll use these cards to combat or protect on any action in this thread by using them to Ante up. You get them back if you win the dice roll. Then we redraw in the next age. Of course some of you may be lucky enough to have drawn face cards, they equal 10 in the Ante, but if you want, you may use any face card's power instead. Though you may not be able to defend with no Ante.

Re: Aeon 1 Legends and Myths<Card Thread>

In the divine realm, Ayrmith appeared, the air around him created a slight breeze. A card formed out of the breeze becoming more solid every moment until it was reviled to be Jack of Spades. He focused on a race the Elemental Slimes, he bound the card to give them sentient, while applying a level requirement only after level ten would they truly start learning as a sentient being.

Ayrmith used the Jack of Spades to give sentient to any slime over level 10.

Re: Aeon 1 Legends and Myths<Card Thread>

Cungto looked upon Creation and knew a chaotic edge, may help as Humanity was pushed Back, however, Tomeborne weren't born and tended to stick to the Archive, thus he looked at how he made them able to come to be and had an idea. For, birth was never going to happen, but emergence into the outer world, very much would. This would allow them a birth of Sorts, into Sentience and Psuedo-Sanity. They were an oddball of Wrath, thus he hoped to see them show their potential, as heroes or as villains. Cungto was Excited to Find out.

Cungto Gives the TomeBorne Sentience through the Portal System, using a 10 of Hearts as Ante.

Me:
Then there was the mind of course. Without brains these would be little more than magic cephalopods. He needed to make them smart, and give them enough intelligence to compete with the humans and other animals that already had a head start. He would need more power than AO's ACTS alone gave him. He would need the power of the card.  Setting up 7 Diamond defense grids to ensure no-one bothered him during this sensitive and delicate task, he set about using the power of the cards to imbue knowledge, thoughts, and personalities onto ink.

ACT: Plutocrus will make the Ink-people.

CaRD He uses the Jack of Spades to make them sentient, 7 of Diamonds as the Ante.

Re: Aeon 1 Legends and Myths<Card Thread>

Ayrmith let his Card fly upon the winds and soon there was glowing light amongst the elemental slimes of the Lerret system. Each elemental Slime over a level 10, began to gain consciousness, their primitive minds exanding. Their corresponding ACTs of their adoptive Patron deity, granting them a stake in the Overmind, was amazing as well. Each Overmind had awarded subdivisions semi-autonomy and now allowing many Subslimes to amass as many slimes to them physically. These are shaped into elemental bipeds with the combined intellect and abilities of several individuals. These do much of the grunt work of the Overminds and are pleased that they have greater mobility and power than any had on their own. THey quickly grow to act almost as mobile townships, Slimes needed no shelters, for they sheltered one another. The Air Elemental Subslimes began to work towards creating new living ship, shapes. The Water Subslimes began to lord over the deeps, crafting a vast oceanic city.

Cungto's blessing to the Tomeborne begins with their continued breaches into the Lerret System. Each one that comes into the Lerret system is mad, but not too mad, at least not anymore. They scrabble for foods and often found one another seemingly by accident but they seem to be able to smell one another and begin chitter to one another a cohesive way, albeit a very creepy way. The chemistry of the Tomeborne was unlike that of other creatures but were rather fond of eating nonetheless, this did have the side effect of granting them a weakness, and one that could possibly be exploited. At least for now, they were small packs of predatory sentience. They hissed at one another almost as much as they hissed at the natural world that surrounded them. The greatest of these Packs measured 32 individuals, but it did continue to pick up more stragglers as time went on, as  did the others. Of all the Tomeborne that began this pilgrimage of chance, about sixty percent were able to coexist with one another, while another twenty-nine percent could not tolerate anything that moved.

Only eleven percent could tolerate animalkind and nature but not each other. These eleven percent ended up becoming much fewer in population but often were more wise and represented the presence of the Tomeborne in the forest, the adventuring and exploratory ones. The others sought solace, often digging their caverns and holes. Sometimes they stole from their future selves to supplement some current task, like they day one of them set square chunks of mud on fire, or burnt a chicken before devouring it. This was different than luck however for it was knowledge...backwards and twisted knowledge but still knowledge. It was only a matter of time before some of them encountered Humans, Slimes, or Coatl.

Plutocrus' blessing to the Ink-people was a myriad of things, variety between two peoples and many, many tentacles. It seemed that they would swim in bliss for an eternity of splendor. However, they quickly realized that such things only awaited them in the bliss of paradise. They had only now to begin their works. So they banded together, a people who quickly grew to be flexible in body and mind. The Inklings and the Octolings found that they were very different on some matters, for instance the octoling sentiment was that counting should be based on 8, while the Inklings often bickered about the simplicity of base 10. This ideological divide began to physically separate them as well as mentally. They came to build their cities on the mouth of a river, one on each side like a twin. They began quite like they had started however, for they were fresh and new, though not without ideas, but they did not have the backing of experience yet, but they soon would. Generations would pass and soon the cities were nearing completion. Each of their cities were almost the same but the thing that made them stay close to one another in a united front was the Ink.

They were Children of the Ink, and in this fashion they were tattooed for status, not that it was usually seen except for the underwater parks they'd created in their city. It was here that they felt most at home, for gravity's force was lessened by the comforting support of the seawater. Their ability to change forms was interesting and useful, for they quickly learned to acclimatize to land based movement and it is here that they do the usual work of transmutation, for their focus was much greater in their bipedal form, they no longer had their focus split between so many various appendages. It is here that they use this blessing of power to create a whole city from shaped sand, transmuted into a smooth marble, with small channels in it to permit water to flow through it and on the rare hot days even cool it. Their city swims in ink, as individuals swim and run to and fro to carry out some order of business. In the collection of raw materials it seemed that Inkling City was gaining access to more, but Octoling City was the first place in all creation where one could see an 800 kilo fish on the beaches being stripped of all its meat by a dozen farmer-gatherers. These cities come to be known as The Ink-Cities, and among other peoples simply as, Ink-City.

Re: Aeon 1 Legends and Myths<Card Thread>

In order to make sure the lesson stuck, Plutocrus decided to act in a much less subtle fashion. This wasn't messing with their minds, so he felt a bit more leeway to use some power. Channeling the power of the Card, whose power could act in ways more powerful than an ACT, he set about his task.

The Ink-People had been exposed to the idea of trade, let's see how they enacted it. He would give each of them one good, but make sure they were lacking in others. This new wealth appeared in bags marked with the symbol they saw in their dreams, the triangle with an eye on the top part. This would indicate a divine gift, rather than foster accusations of theft. With such wealth being spread around they would hopefully have learned their lesson about Trade rather than fighting over the now much less scarce resources.

He set up seven metaphysical defenses in case the others wanted to stop him from setting this object lesson and enriching the Ink-People.

CARD: Use the Ace of Diamonds to add wealth to the Ink-People. Also counts as conversion according to the description of the card.

7 of diamonds as the ante.

Aeon 1 Legends and Myths<Card Thread>

Plutocrus's Ink-People once again felt the blessing of the one who had shaped their flesh. As huge bags of woven cloth were overfilled with golden bricks. Many Inkers couldn't carry even one, by themselves at least, but it was beautiful to behold, it's hue much lighter in color and shinier than their copper, but also much, much heavier in weight per unit of volume. The mathematicians among those that had gathered conjured numbers to apply to this new and precious material. As they showed this novel new material so some, others began to crave some of it, or a chance to transmute it. So in trade for slivers of the gold, often people would give many times the worth, many supposed that providing a gold standard ought to be the way business was done. Thus one of those early mathematicians coined the phrase and used gold as a weight standard, this helped rationalize many other standards of trade. Those who did not abide by the standards often were eventually run out of the business of trade for lack of patrons as everyone wanted the arcane mysteries of business out in the open and mutually agreed upon.

They traded for everything after that and formed new companies that sponsored the construction of new buildings of wooden design. They paid for much of this in gold standards as the golden slivers began to pass through and around Ink City.

Bjorn flashes power with his claws and tears new Ursans into existence. These were located on Lerret, while his other children were shaped upon Lerret 2. The Ursanoids of Lerret were spread through the forests that were taking shape in the southern continent, but opposite the Crucible lands. They took those lands and lorded over them, and opposing the lazy reptillian draconians in the hills. They find themselves in the oldest and largest of the surviving forests of Lerret, One of the unicorns has lived among this wood since it's birth during the age of darkness. He takes note of the new creatures and awaits some further sign of danger, for they kept their distance from the unicorn, few tested a unicorn's mettle anymore, and fewer lived to tell such tales.

Aeon 1 Legends and Myths<Card Thread>

Having done their humble work in the mortal void, Humilis and Pax then reached out to all of those in creation who meditate and seek purpose. They did not speak with the fullness of their voices, but instead whispered of a grand organization: a holy order dedicated to the Garden of Nirvana. They spoke of the garden's great powers, and the tasks it might give that would advance the causes of good and community in the world. They spoke of an organization that would maximize the effectiveness of such a place, they spoke of the humility and charity that would be required of the order's membership, and the need for martial capability if the Garden ever came under threat or might be somehow misused.

Humilis and Pax use the Jack of Clubs to create a new sacred order of Monks, called the 'Keepers of Nirvana'. These individuals are dedicated to advancing the interests of all living beings by spreading the word of the Garden of Nirvana's existence, what it can do, and helping people reach it, particularly those who need it most. Criminals who need redemption, the cursed who seek to undo their plight, pure hearts seeking a worthy cause, or those experiencing a crisis of self. Enlightened Coatls might give rides to righteous humans from Larret to the moon, for example, or in later centuries when the technology to fly comes into being, members will offer to subsidize fares or provide escorts. Those who live on the mountain might also be guides for those seeking to risk the climb to reach the top. They also protect the Garden, to any extent that it might need such protection, and 'filter' those who they believe will try to lie or attempt to deceive the garden (attempting to save them from an otherwise inevitable fate).

6 of Diamonds is offered as Ante

Aeon 1 Legends and Myths<Card Thread>

The Garden of Nirvana came to those in deep meditation, those caught glimpses of the splendor that awaited one of a spiritual mindset there. Many who discovered this place through meditation often found others who had likewise found the images incredible and were all very eager to learn more. This persisted until some of the Coatl began to mix amongst the races, telling of this place, and learning what wisdom could be found in each place. They told of how one might get to the garden of the moon. Many Coatl was able to carry much given the new Inventory SubSystem, but they had a harder time carrying people unless they'd grown very large and existential, generally, they were those who were fully committed to the IDEAL of Compassion as well.

Those among the Tomeborne who found compassion and had ascended the levels of Monk and even possessed a rough animalistic humility were those who listened to the captured too trusting Coatl its brethren intended to trade to some of the Ink-People. It decided to set him free if he would take the Tomeborne with him. He did and they departed that place together. There they meet others who wish to join this organization of Monks, including several Coatl, Humans, Elemental Slimes, Inklings, and Octolings. Many are frightened by the Tomeborne but his Coatl escort takes great pains to explain how he wished to be here like everyone else, grudgingly and yet with humility, they acquiesce. A great discussion takes place at the forum found within the gardens. There many put forth ideas stemming from many varied backgrounds, finally, they took a vote to decide what path they might take to assemble themselves. It landed upon the Coatl who had long understood their role in the Lerret System, they took the role of coordinators and messengers and decided to form schools representing the Way of Nirvana.

From there a council was formed of many species and regions around the Lerret System and stayed around the mountain until they could no longer make the journey, then a new council member would be chosen. These council members enjoyed a stately life, though they had learned their lessons well and did not become corrupt or selfish. They often gave to the needy and hungry as many settlements began to arise around the mountains of the Garden. The people who came were those who were called to the Compassion IDEAL and often worked to support the populace of needy as well as the order of Monks which called these mountains home, while the monks ministered and provided their surpluses each day in a form of humble service.

I Dare Say, take back your Errant Criticism, for This Game of Cards, is no trivial matter. It is what empowered, all of us, and I am a God of Games, For would it truly be so wise, to make a mockery of another God's Domain?

As Cungto says this, it's clear that he laughs at his own grave talk, taking back much of the sharp tone of the statement, it seems to bemuse him more than actually aggrieve him.
