Re: The First Age: Acts of the Old World

"Nearly there, sister. We are nearly there." Humilis said, as he once again reached into the -ever-more-complex void to manipulate the course of life. This time, guiding the changes within lizard-kind to produce warm-blooded avians of various shapes and sizes. Many are capable of flight, some not. Some big, some very small. Some predators, some prey.
"Yes indeed, brother. All that's left is a greater diversity of mammal-kind. Once in place, we will play our final card, and let the age end with the most exciting act of all!"
"It's good that you sound happy, sister. The end of an age is indeed a time for joy. I think everyone has been anticipating this."
"Yes. I am happy. This age has been fruitful, with little conflict. I am hopeful for the future."
"As we all should be, sister. As we all should be."

ACT: Once again, using the mutation/gene systems, Humilis and Pax evolve a number of reptiles to create 'birds' in all the places where the environment can sustain them.

On the 7th day of Creation, Humilis and Pax resolve their wills to accomplish the wonder of a new branch of life, the avian birds. These new creatures slowly arose from the highly successful reptiles, pausing only briefly to develop feathers as they rose in height and high adaptability. Beaks form like those of the snapping fish, genetics helping to bring up old adaptations from the past. Mitochondria helped them develop as well, some of the first of these creatures chose to retain their predatory natures and become the raptor family, hunting for squirrels, fish, and small lizards. While others chose small arthuropods for food, as well as slugs, worms and tiny slime varieties if they weren't hot slimes. Still many more picked at the dirt and stem to find seeds, plankton, and fruits to eat. Their ability to nest was most useful to their young whom were born with a debt of growth to achieve before they could achieve their full potentials, unlike many previous life. Thus the care and attention birds placed upon their offspring was highly productive and the basis of their primitive social structures -- the flocks. These creatures had light bones that enabled many of them to fly, some few simply grew long legs to run fast. Many took to the waters like their forebearers, swimming with the ease of an underwater predator, but only safe in numbers on land because of the awkward shift into a landwalker.

Their high adaptibility eventually takes them across Lerret, and sometimes an errant flock will find itself swept up and across the gulf between moon and Lerret. There they find many other varieties of birds and where life could exist, so could birds. Here the largest life were the birds, not the reptiles for many of these moons had no large bodies of water that could be called an ocean, mostly lakes which did not harbor the plethora of life that the oceans could. Here the terrorbirds were the largest of creatures, standing roughly three mortals tall on average, these birds were hardy meat-eaters and worked in flocks to surround dangerous prey or numberous smaller ones. Among the moons there were nine varieties.

Re: The First Age: Acts of the Old World

Thackus thought it was time for him to do more in regards to creating life forms. Others had created so much already. With his whispers, he motioned for the life forms down below to gradually develop a little higher. The final act for this spell would not be a word, but a bark. Thackus literally barked like a dog into the Cosmos. Some Mammalian life would eventually transform into canines over time, from wolves to various domesticated dogs, when the time for civilization came. These canines were not just carnivores, but could also eat plants.

ACT: Thackus creates canine life forms.

The power of Thackus compels some mammalian life to continue its evolutionary struggle. Soon doggers were everywhere. Packs of wild dogs became a common thing, many were very well suited to life in the wilds while others preferred the company of other dogs, being both smaller and fluffier than many of their counterparts. Still, others were dangerous beasts that hunted solitary with wide massive jaws that each held many sharp teeth. Their powerful olfactory senses were proven as creatures thought to be unfindable and had to start finding new tricks to stay ahead of the canines. They had the most powerful noses in creation thus far.

Dogs came to inhabit many places upon the world of Lerret and predominantly ate meat but one variety only ate salmon-spiked cornmeal hash from a tin can...this species quickly died out when released into the wilds...

Re: The First Age: Acts of the Old World

As Cungto looked upon the various creatures, employing their magic and abilities, he noticed a critical aspect missing from his system. He recorded their strengths, reflexes, intelligence, and wisdom in all the minute ways they showed themselves. However, something was Missing, Skills. a Good Farmer in his system had the right capabilities for farming but lacked a recorded instance for the quality of their work.

This problem was what he sought to fix. They would be able to learn the skills, typically, how they used to, for this only recorded it so that he could mess with it in later Acts. So he added a skill system in a separate section of the system outside the stat component, and there lay all learned capabilities. From how effectively they walked to how well they danced and sang.

To Better Explain, Cungto created an Example where he could model all other skills. No interface existed, for it was only instinctual for now. But the Shape would be the Same. Let's Say a Random Squirrel had learned how to play chess, the oldest game, and it was exceptionally skilled in The Queen's Gambit. It would lie in the Format: Games(1): Board Games(1): Chess(2, Novice): Novice(1): Queen's Gambit(5)

From left to right, Games would be the category of the skill, board games the topic of the craft, chess is the game itself, a novice is their rank in the game, and Queen's Gambit is their specialty given their skill level in the game. A Farmer: Crop Tending: Fruit Trees: Expert: Apple Trees. Along with many other examples.

The six categories of skill levels are beginner, novice, journeyman, expert, master, and Grandmaster.

The Numbers connected to the various skills represent their skill levels in the broader strokes of the game. So, for example, someone well versed in a myriad of board games and capable of using them well in games they're not familiar with would have a higher number than someone who was a master in one.

The Numbers only go from 1 to 6 for each one.

Specialties' number rankings represent how much better they are. A 1 is a minor specialty, while a 6 is someone significantly well-versed in that specific topic and could very well be a rank higher just in that particular focus. This effective rank can even apply in Grandmaster Ranks, allowing for a theoretical World-Expert rank in that specific focus.

Cungto Creates the Skill system.

Soon Skills began to appear in place within the metaphysical rulebooks for the System... Life developed skills across the realm, each giving way to a deeper well of knowledge the more one sought after the skill. Likewise, skills had different depths of knowledge or knowledge ranks. Soon beings upon the surface gained a variety of skills through an instinctual skill: Learning.

Many creatures of lower mental capacities gained some skills, but many of the higher lifeforms; cephalopods, the reptiles, the birds, and the mammals; gained many skills and a surprising variety of them. Even at the lowest of levels, a skill could be developed but the capacity for understanding directly correlated with their brain complexity (unless otherwise acted upon by a diety!). Thus animals of every class began to appear in earnest, despite much of the life has serious limitations on these skills, they begin growing into these classes and embodying them in a fashion or perhaps aligning with the lifestyle. They also guide evolution to an extent by granting a niche with a bonus, something that all life secretly wishes it had in the increasingly hostile wildernesses of the world.

Re: The First Age: Acts of the Old World

Now with Canines running around and Rodentia overflowing the continent, some more measures of population control might be necessary. A predator genus to feed on the squirrels and rats, something to chase and be chased by the canines. A regal royal figure that knows it descended from a God's handiwork. Night-vision and fine whiskers for hunting in the dark, nocturnal instincts to catch prey unawares, and fine balance and some climbing ability to get at its prey even in trees. It would need retractable claws and sharp teeth for hunting. Stealthy instincts and padded paw feet for maximum sneaking. Truly the finest predator yet introduced to Lerret.

Taking all these concepts Plutocrus "encouraged" the existing life forms to mutate and evolve until there was a population to sustain them of these new creatures.

ACT: Plutocrus makes Felines.

Plutocrus compels life to further transform until it becomes a new form of life, though not entirely different from canines or rodents, felines appeared to hold the possibility of being more powerful than either, having night-vision and a multitude of fine-tuned senses, they were ideal nocturnal creatures. Those that came to have coats colored black were most blessed in this sense, for they could hide in shadows with ease, coupled with their subtle ambush predator sensibilities, which made them very effective. Their atypical mammalian lives also gave them the gift of social behaviors, similar to the canines they sometimes gathered together in prides. Indeed the saber-lions of the dry wastelands were extremely deadly, as well as the Panthera family. These families often resemble a band of adventurers with their sophisticated interplays and social endeavors as they pick up their own classes.

Strangely, these super hunters also appeared sitting near rock walls staring for long hours at something just beyond...

Re: The First Age: Acts of the Old World

Dadacar observed the swirling form of the First Soul and found it...unimpressive. His intent, with forge and loom, had been to create a workshop that would enable more complex experiments, and this first attempt did not quite hit the mark. So the mercurial god did something he seldom did. He stopped and thought.

After a good long think, he reset the configuration of the Loom of Heavenly Essence. Souls should be sturdy, but not indestructible. They should be spongey, able to soak up experiences over time. And they should be sticky, able to be affixed to any living thing. These qualities would ensure that whichever being the soul was affixed to would continue to gather skills and traits, and so even the most short-lived creature would have the opportunity to improve upon itself, perhaps not in this life, but in the next.

ACT: Dadacar sets the gears on the Loom of Heavenly Essence to produce souls that have the qualities of being sturdy, but not indestructible, sticky, and spongey.

Stopping to focus so deeply on a single thing for so long went against his very nature, and he felt the need to act. Glancing towards Lerret he saw his siblings enacting all manner of life that he knew without a proper challenge would be a disservice to those newborn creatures. He could not abandon the Soulforge though. He did not have the time, energy, focus, or interest to tend it as it required.

Summoning a qubit of quicksilver blessed from his own hand, he shaped it, roughly, into the figure of a bipedal creature. This form did not seem fitting, so he reduced the shape back to a qubit. Next, he tried something more exotic, a floating geometric shape of swirling appendages. That too failed to meet his standard. This creature would need to be able to adapt to any circumstance, to help any god that would need the Soulforge in its current or future iterations. Realization dawned on Dadacar like a bolt of heavenly thunder. Since he didn't know WHAT would be needed from his servant in the future, it would be best to give it all the tools it needed. Combining the nature of quicksilver and his own ever-changing essence, Dadacar brought the qubit to life and left it as an amorphous metal blob, to choose its own shape as the situation demanded.

Feeling the age beginning to close, Dadacar flung himself towards Lerret to perform his final Acts.

ACT: Dadacar creates the immortal servitor of the gods, Lytek the Soulkeeper, and commands him to serve the interests of the gods, and manage the Soulforge.

Dadacar empowers a completely new thing in the Great Void, a servitor that performed the work of creation on behalf of the gods. This one was special for it was also empowered to manage the Soulforge! Left to its own devices the new being blinked mechanically, learning its new body. The shifting creature began to operate the Soulforge, ensuring smooth operation and discarding useless soulmatter, which could be recycled back into reality threads...

Soon the Soulkeeper oversaw the creation of a large batch of souls, which, were carried much on the wind currents of the Aerosphere as they were also light and ephemeral, crossed through creation to land upon the life of the worlds.

One thing seemed to remain a constant drain on the souls, however, trillions of souls would not be enough for all the life in the Universe. Bjornrogn's ACT had spread life across the cosmos, across multiple galaxies and even universes. Therefore the Soulkeeper began working on another batch immediately...

Re: The First Age: Acts of the Old World

The Ayrmith that arrived in the mortal realm, started to shape his power into a new path of evolution. It would be the Elemental Evolution Path. It would modify the body based on the Elemental Energy stored in the body.

Minor Elemental Evolution – A modification that shows the elemental alignment, visible signs along with enhanced vision. (Someone who has ice alignment skin turning white, and developing a thermal vision)

Greater Elemental Evolution – A modification to the body that will have a greater effect, with physical signs of the element’s presence. (Someone who has ice alignment, skin turning hard, or brittle as Ice)

Major Elemental Evolution – A modification that creates an aura around the person. The aura is infused with the element.  (Someone who has ice alignment, would have a cold aura around them)

Pure Elemental Evolution – A modification that adds all the effects of the lesser evolutions, but at a much higher effect. Also allows the user to choose one physical characteristic to channel the element through. (Someone who has ice alignment, manifesting Ice through their arm would be able to create waves of ice, or shoot ice shards from his hand.)

True Elemental – Allows the person to shed their physical form and become the embodiment of the element, allowing the person to constantly draw energy from an environment of their element, though when they leave the element it drains their energy. In this state the person, Elemental Energy is equal to their life-force.

Ayrmith ACTs to create the Elemental Evolution Path.

IN the metaphysical realms that lay only within the minds of the Gods thus far, a new path emerged, the Way of Elemental Evolution. This Path would lead one towards mastering an element. Some creatures also began to exhibit signs of elemental evolution, especially amongst the slime elementals, though they were already well affected by the elements. Others at this point include some of the larger and deeper dwelling sea life, such as the cephalopod Kraken. Another was the monstrous sizzling desert croc, often encountering the gargantuan storm eagle. These elemental creatures rarely appear so far but when they do they are well known to the denizens of their lands. However, with no direction on what elements can be accessed, only the relative four so far can be seen by the deities...

Re: The First Age: Acts of the Old World

Seeing life beginning to flourish within the world as a whole, Durehan saved his strength for some time, not acting directly for a brief time as he gathered his powers. Perhaps he was contemplating what to do next, or perhaps he had been gathering his energy for his next ACTs. Having played his Card to create a new Nature Magic to bring forth into the world to act more directly with the blossoming flora and fauna, he finally reached out and performed three ACTs in succession.

First he reached out to create a singular lifeform on the planet. Not a species on a grand scale, nor directing evolution or mutation to create it, but building it in the image he saw within his mind. He made two. Four legs, white as the brightest snow and graceful. Unicorns. A male and female.

His second ACT was in imbuing them with an expanded sense of the world and their places within it. Sentience. A spark that would grow in time - something they would have in abundance given their timeless position in the world. With that spark came a drive - to protect and promote the blossoming of Nature. The forests. The animals. The growing world of diversity was coming about. They would act as their caretakers on the mortal plane.

His final ACT was granting them a longer life than most creatures in the world would have. As he had created the mechanism of Death, he knew how to push those limits. They would not have children - or at least not frequently. Every few centuries perhaps. They could still be killed, of course, but their natural aging would become almost non-existent. They would age, slowly, extremely slowly, but on a scale that might enable them to see the ending of the world before they died of old age. Immortal for all practical purposes. Tied into this was the essence of the new Nature Magic he had created, gifting them its use and binding them to it. Their strength and long life would be tied to Nature itself. The more vast it became, the stronger it became. The more it was weakened, the more they would age and lose their strength. They would become the true guardians of Nature.

Durehan performs Three ACTs he had saved up:

1) The creation of a pair of Unicorns.

2) Imbuing the Pair with the spark of Sentience and a drive to protect Nature and promote its growth.

3) Reduced reproduction in exchange for being bound to the new Nature Magic, gifting them practical immortality as long as the wilderness survived.

First Durehan crafts a new and majestic creature, being a herbivore with hooves and horn, a strong and powerful back and haunches, made this creature fast and solid, light on its feet for something that weighed quite a lot. The creature's sense of smell, sight, and hearing all were enhanced. They were formidable beasts and though quick to anger or fright, they used the clues of their environment and eyes to judge a being's intentions quite intelligently even before they were given the blessing of a mind...

These first beasts then received this blessing which increase their mental capacity for understanding, while also improving the faculties of judgment, imagination, and planning, leading even to anticipation. They became the first creatures to truly see themselves. They look upon themselves and one another, each naming the other. Electra, for she was a warrior priestess who had control of the elemental lightning as well as druid magic, and her mate, Herald of the Forest, a strong male druid and warrior, an expert tracker who has somehow gained the air elemental ability to control sound. SENTIENCE HAS BEEN ACHIEVED UPON LERRET!

With trust for Durehan in their hearts, they bow and sacrifice their fertility for Nature Magic, accepting the blessing of practical immortality for their loyalty. IN the coming years they grow wise and old, guarding the forests as best they can. Utilizing their power over nature and their druidic experiences pioneering new skills, soon lead them to become powerful as well. Their main fight is with the firebirds who destroy every forest they meet. However the firebirds have begun to learn in their own evolutionary processes, they sate their appetites to perform acts of arson sporadically, before retreating to the Moon of Dadacar. The Guardians met them now with powers equal to theirs, aided infrequently by other monstrous beings, such as the Leviathan, they began to limit the damage of the Firebirds and in some cases extinguish their flaming flocks entirely.

Re: The First Age: Acts of the Old World

Humilis had his metaphorical hand extended into the void, acting on behalf of himself and his sister on their latest creation. Unlike all previous times however, his focus was absolute and his attention undivided. It was so undivided in fact, that Pax had willingly closed her divine sight so that he could use the full might of the gifts that Ao had given them.

This was a delicate operation: an ACT that stretched the very limit of what was possible... or what was allowed. Always fearing the wrath of Ao, Humilis made every effort to ensure that what he was doing would be within the bounds of the over-deity.

What Humilis was attempting, was no less than the creation of a new branch of life, and the alteration and unification of all existing life that fell under the same taxonomy. Giving creatures cells who did not have them before while also advancing new life was a difficult task.

This act would be the prelude to the most significant act they would ever engage in. Possibly the most significant act of the age... and it was vital that they get it right!

ACT: As before, Humilis and Pax use the mutation/gene system to create a new branch of life (branching from Reptiles): mammals, in all parts of creation where they can be sustained. As part of this process, the divine pair attempt to unify all existing mammalian creations under the same cellular process.

In AO's mind, the gaps between these mammalian species began to fill in, soon their strange mystery lineages began to intersect as Humulis unraveled the past and placed new specimens into the world's ecological fabric, sewing together the disparate mammalian groups and anchoring them to the fast-growing tree of life that had been pioneered by Humulis and Pax's single-cellular lifepath. This ACT however consecrated Canines, Felines, Squirrelkind, and even Unicorns, into the larger mammalian branch of life, which was truly huge. The new creatures that began to arise were those like the Cetaceans, mammals that live in the waters like fish but breathe air and have warm blood and thick hides to protect them from water temperatures. The Chiroptera was a new species that flew at night, utilizing sonar for night vision. The Monotremes skirted the line between bird(eggs & beaks), reptile(scaly hide), and mammal(covered by fur & warm-blooded). The Marsupials were an interesting family with pouches for their young. The ecosystem would suffer for a time from the Bovidae family, who grazed on the grasses in large herds all with hooves; cattle, deer, antelope, sheep, and goats. While the Afrotheridae family consisted of the rest of Rodentia as well as elephants, bovine, manatees and seals, and primates. The entire family of Perissodactyla included horses of every variety, including rhinos. These creatures would change in time, and expand into the niches of this world, for now all settled in biomes they could grow accustomed to as they dominated most other lifeforms in this world.

No ACTs had been undone, but many had been stitched together to create a larger tapestry of this now a unified branch of life, that now could trace all their ancestry back to the primordial ooze that Humulis and Pax had spread across the world, changed and enhanced by their patron deities over the billion year timespan that had lead to this moment...

Re: The First Age: Acts of the Old World

Ayrmith manifested in the realm of the mortals again, his storm unnoticed to any mortal creature as he watched from beyond the Aerosphere.

He reached out grabbing a trace amount of fire from every source in creation. Sifting through it until he found the essence that made fire, he wove each of the essences together merging them until all the fire was only one fire that had many parts. The change was only a spiritual one and wouldn’t affect how the fire would act.

Then Ayrmith moved on doing the same thing to every other element, one after another. Merging the essences until they were only one true form of each element that was split across creation.

The Elemental Gateways would use this connection to allow a user to move from any point with a concentration of one element, to another. The only requirement was that the user was cultivating that element, and could pay the Elemental Energy cost. (A water slime could use a puddle and move into an ocean without having to travel the distance between.)

Ayrmith ACTs to create the Elemental Gateways.

With this ACT suddenly distance is no object for the daring and experimental. The power of the Elemental Gateways began to exist, yet it was only for a few creature kinds upon the world, who could both cultivate as well as concentrate on a location through an elemental sense. Thus the first to attempt this endeavor was the pair of Unicorns, as well as the Firebirds, who had little minds to speak of but a singular drive in their minds. Here and there a creature might achieve it but for now, many of the nascent species who might be able to use it soon had just been created and had not fully fleshed out their kinds or grown into their full abilities or numbers.

Re: The First Age: Acts of the Old World

Being a god of magic, Thackus began to see that life had grown more, well, magical over the course of time on the world down below. Thackus would guide the progression of some reptiles into something greater. He took the a collection of reptiles, breathing his life into them, and over time, they would change into Draconian wild life. Draconians were biological beings, but had innate magical qualities to them. Some breathed fire, or ice, some could breath electricity. All of them, however, were long lived, and very powerful for mere animals. Even stronger than the mammalian grizzly bear, and covered in scales or flesh that would be difficult to harm with iron or even steel. Lastly, some could even fly. No, they were not dragons, per se, but they were the closest thing available now. Draconian wild life was magically sustained from their own breath, and they could derive some nutrients for their body from dirt. However, they were not totally without the need for food, and more importantly for their species, they reproduced at a low/mediocre Rate.

ACT: Thackus creates the powerful, magical and dragon like pre-cursor to Dragonkind, called Draconians.

Thackus comes down from his place amongst the gods and herein guides a gang of large reptiles from their hidey holes, their bodies grew larger and elongated, powerful bodies wrapped in an armored carapace that would turn the spikes of other beasts (but not most metals). Their bellies were large and filled with flammable bile that ignited upon contact with air, so they could spit fire and maintain a pseudo-warmblooded nature. These new draconian creatures quickly gained steam as they ate large shares of the Bovidae each monsoon season, then hibernated, regurgitate and reingest the bile that sustained them during this time. The Old Speech could not sustain them any more than they could eat words(or speak words for that matter), nor did the incantations of Thackus. These creatures lived for a long time, but not forever, they passed on their lineage and fell into a slower pace of evolution, like the reptiles they arose from. (Each can live the length of an Age at this point.)

Something else would need to be applied to give them power beyond that which was shaped by their formation here, they are sophisticated animals, but little else... As with the Unicorns. This seemed an attempt to grant them new magical powers as well. Such things were not impossible, though not without further ACTing. These creatures were blessed with powerful bodies but were maybe not as indestructible as Thackus wished.

Nevertheless, the creatures which attempted to match wit and power against the draconian often found themselves losing quite quickly to the terrifying beasts. The first being to kill a draconian was the Kraken cephalopod, which dragged the murderous reptilian into the waters where it drowns ultimately as other reptiles might. The creatures came to reside near the Ley Lines where they could soak up some of the magical energies that flowed to help sustain their long hibernations. At this time there are roughly five hundred dracos in the world...

OOC: If you want to enhance these beyond mere animals, they will require more ACTs. Blessing them with magic for instance or incredible lifespans beyond a normal crocodile or other long-lived reptiles (some Reptiles do live for hundreds of years in RL naturally it is thought).

Re: The First Age: Acts of the Old World

Ayrmith Debated his next act, he had been given an insight that the elements needed to be truly defined, to imbue all of his acts with greater power. He knew that the effects couldn’t simply be spoken or told but must be worked into the system, and built into the fabric of creation itself.

First, he spoke, “There will be Nine Primary Elements, Light, Darkness, Creation, Destruction, Fire, Water, Earth, Air, Nature. From the Nine Primary Elements, others may be formed these are the Secondary Elements.” He paused as he reinforced his words with divine power shaping the System to accept his will.
Plants are Nature and Creation, in their presence the elements of Nature and Creation will grow.” This time his power pulse touches the plants, confirming their elemental nature without changing any part of them.
Firebirds are Fire, and often create Destruction. In their presence, the element of fire may always be found but in conflict, the element of Destruction will surround them. Aerosphere is Air, allowing all in its area to know the element of Air. The squid’s ink is the Darkness where it spreads so does the element of Darkness. The Sunstar is Light through its power the element of Light is spread. The lakes, seas, and oceans are all Water, they resonate with the element of Water. The gemstones are of the earth, they represent the strength of the element Earth.” As he finished speaking every part of creation was momentarily categorized into what Primary Elements, or Secondary Elements it was linked to. Then the storm of Ayrmith grew larger, as he used his divine will to again bend the System into categorizing every new creature, or variants, elemental nature.

Ayrmith Acts to create the natural order of the elements, as well as link an elemental nature to everything.

As a new entry appeared within the metaphysical tome of "The System: Advanced EditionTM", wherein everything in this Void gained an anchor of sorts, which tied them to the elements. This information was often revealing, such as most living things were either of Earth or Water, rarely Wind, and even more rarely Fire. Many were elementally Plants, this much had been known since the first blade of grass, yet full confirmation that all such things were related elementally was rewarding in and of itself. Now it is known, that these elements exist and are represented in our Universe! Order has entered the Universe once more.

The elemental cultivation of many animals suddenly began to appear then, shining examples of the work which must be done. The Great Black Cats of the world easily cultivated much Darkness. While many reptilians cultivated light and water. The creatures of the Earth were often diggers such as worms, moles, and sandy crocs. While the creatures of the air were most often flyers or gliders like the insectoid paragliders or the darkness loving bats.

One of the first of a new round of elemental evolution was the monstrously large Dark Wolf called Redfang, who had cultivated much earth and fire, leading to destruction. It had grown in power since then, leading his pack across the world's Southern Continent, the monster trailed the fires of the Firebirds, his pack eating well on the cooked remains of forests.

Before life could achieve its next stage, Plutocrus thought they needed one more thing. There were fruits and grasses for the herbivores and small animals for the carnivores. But one more readily available food source would provide the safety net that life would need if it was going to move from wild free-roaming hunter/gatherers to some sort of stable settlement.

He would modify the grasses forcing them to evolve in the ways he wanted, to make them thin whisky plants with small, light, relatively dry seeds for easy spreading, but that could also easily be turned into food.  These seeds would not only be good for food but because of their dryness would be good for storage without spoiling.

ACT: Plutocrus creates grain crops.

New grasses then suddenly began to sprout then, yet soon it was clear that these were not normal grasses, they were grain crops of many varieties. Wheat, Maize, Sorghum, Mungbean, Barley, Finger Millet, and Soybean are the new plants that appeared, each unique and yet neatly fitting into the scheme of the Grain family of plants. These grains bore a fruit that was a hard seed with an interior that was nutritious as well as energy-filled. It would be a boon for many lifeforms such as ground squirrels and the primates...

Re: The First Age: Acts of the Old World

Dadacar felt the Aeon slowing, and the curtain beginning to draw. It was in this twilight that the fiery one released his pent-up will.

First, he sent his presence to a sparsely populated plain in the southern hemisphere of Larret. The ground erupted suddenly, turning what was once a flat savannah into a towering circular chain of jagged mountain peaks. Like the shattered mouth of a dragon, the highest mountaintops were unrivaled on Larret, scraping the heavens themselves.

ACT: Create the Chained Mountains,  the region is "nearly impassable to the unworthy"

At the center of the mountains, far above the cloud line, Dadacar brushed off a wide area with his immaterial hand. It remained rocky and mountainous, but far more reasonably traversable. A silvery thread formed, quivering in the thing mountain air, tracing upward in a long arching path. At its apex, it was nearly three thousand feet tall. As lazily as it had climbed skyward, the silvery thread traveled back down to earth, a mile away from where it had begun. As it touched back down its quivering ceased and took on a more solid form.

ACT: Create the ARTIFACT, The Arched Crucible. It appears as a silvery metallic arch three thousand feet tall at its height and a mile wide. The arch itself is no thicker than a large man is wide.

The silvery arch briefly began to change colors. The silver became red as if superheated, then black as if scorched, before becoming blindingly white. Eventually, that light faded, returning the arch to its silvery sheen. Into that arch, Dadacar had imposed his ultimate will.

He had seen his siblings create all manner of life and systems upon the surface (and below) of Larret. It was not clear how they would all play out in the fulness of time. But Dadacar knew that it would be challenging, if not impossible (if such words applied to a God) for him to be everywhere at once, assisting his siblings by creating a whetstone for their creations to sharpen themselves against. His crucible would see to that. Those creatures strong enough, smart enough, fast enough...those who sought greatness would be rewarded with it here, by challenging themselves they'd reap the reward of self-improvement.

ACT: Dadacar infuses the Arched Crucible with the power of ENHANCEMENT. Any living creature that passes through the Crucible is faced with an obstacle that either preys on their weakness or challenges their strength. If they are able to overcome this obstacle, then they are granted a major enhancement to their strengths. If they do not, they perish.

Dadacar's powerful hand shapes a new land! The Chained Mountains stretch from the Northern-most beaches of the Southern Continent all the way passed the very Southernmost pole, creating a huge barrier between one side and the other. While these impassable mountains also cut off the interior plateaus that housed The Arched Crucible, a new ITEM OF POWER! The Gauntlet led to this prize, which bestowed the power to ALTER unto the Arched Crucible, thus rewarding any who make it thus far, ENHANCEMENT!

At this time, only the creatures who could fly had made it all the way to the center of The Arched Crucible. However, having been rewarded for their flight, each had been granted the chance to face the Obstacle. This was an amorphous test, selected by random chance, from any of the elements in creation, guided by the metaphysical mechanics of Dadacar, 'prey on weakness or challenge their strength.' Sometimes the birds, firebirds, chiropterans, or paragliders faced the harsh winds of a hurricane whence they passed through the Arch. Sometimes they faced the grasping of mud or entangling vine, and so on. Those that survived, gained not only a great deal of experience but also were rewarded with a category change in size and appropriate adjustments to physical stats! Thus Small flocks of each of these monstrous beasts haunted the area and added their presence as an extra challenge to this harsh place.

This effectively separates the continent so that either side of the divide will begin to create a divergent evolution, and contact from one side to the other would be nigh impossible to ground dwellers.

Re: The First Age: Acts of the Old World

Plutocrus was thinking about life forms. They had a lot of what they needed, food, water, and emotions. What they lacked was a REASON. A reason to explore, a reason to do more than stay in their homes doing the minimum necessary. He decided he would provide that reason.

Not content with normal levels of arbitrage that would come about, he would seek to introduce rare plants in hard-to-reach locations that could provide great benefits to the creatures that found them. While they would grow and spread as other plants, they wouldn't spread far from their base location until other creatures took action to spread them.

A species of small flowering shrub found in the deepest parts of the jungles whose black seeds could bring wakefulness to the most weary of animals. (Coffea)

A species of tree growing in high mountains, whose seeds could be processed to yield the most exquisite flavor. (Cocoa)

A species of tall grass with a hard stalk found on remote islands, that’s inside had some of the highest concentrations of reined sugars. (Sugarcane)

A species of flowering vine found only on one coast in the world with seeds that when ground, not only provided great taste but humorous sneezing effect. (Black pepper)

A red species of plant whose insides tasted of elemental fire, providing a flaming burning sensation to any who eat them. Found on one mountain range, far from the others. (Chili peppers)
etc.

ACT: Plutocrus creates the Hidden Plants.

Plutocrus sweeps out with his power planting new strains of elemental plants with special properties throughout the world, but not everywhere. These are each carefully chosen locations that would in time provide the impetus for exploration for the newly blessed humans. Such things provided a material gain, whilst furthering the reach of whoever found them. For now, each was hidden from the sight of humans and gods as Plutocrus had planned it, but would not remain so forever.

Re: The First Age: Acts of the Old World

Adopting the form of a haggard old woman in a green hooded robe and a wooden cane, Perenna decides to use what's left of her energy for two acts. The first is to create a place where those with souls can go when they dream. The realm will appear different to everyone who visits. In essence, their perceptions would become their reality while in this place. The second was to create a device to help measure universal balance. Altering her cane, the multi-formed goddess sculpted it into the form of a balance scale, which seemed to measure law vs chaos.

Perenna creates the realm Ebadorimu, for those with souls to traverse in their slumber.

Dreams stretch out before the new sentient creatures of the world. At first, it is met with suspicion. They see things that do not match their waking lives. Through their aged wisdom, the Unicorns are the first to understand this new thing and they attempt to communicate this to the Humans when last they met. In this fashion, the Eldest of humans walks forth unafraid of the Unicorns, for they have seen many dangers, and they hear the OLD SPEECH, from the Unicorns themselves. In this way, the first Human Wizard is made. For he is wise and uses his new knowledge judiciously, guarding it and teaching it to a chosen successor. Nine others depart that meeting, having heard the name of the gods in those words as well. They all take the knowledge of dreams back to the people to try to explain it, though they could not use the Old Speech as the Unicorns had...

Perenna creates the Scale of Order, to measure the amount of law and chaos currently present in the universe.

The Scale of Order materializes in the Great Void, near the Eternal Realm. Here the Great Scales begin to find their balance as ACTs were weighed for their Chaos or Order and the effects thereof. At this time, it appeared that a sort of Balance had been achieved, wherein the Universe was not all Chaos, yet not everything was perfectly ordered. Chance had much to do with this and its chaotic nature. The System conversely balanced that in many ways, allowing many variations yet still providing guidance for all things in creation. The Gods and Goddesses had on more than one front, stabilized a busy and hectic void.

Re: The First Age: Acts of the Old World

Bjornrogn gazes upon the works within the void, and finds it wanting.  His gaze becomes both deep, and far seeing.  First, he focuses on Magic Now.. Magic.. needs.. structure.., to.. be.. a..  foundation.. for.. its'.. use.. He thought.  And so, with another long look of concentration, his deep eyes like endless wells as he worked his Will upon his greatest Creation.

Then, he focuses on Larret 2, and creates there life in the Great Ocean.  A form of eel that grows the entire span of its' life, and possesses two pharyngeal jaws.  Limiting the span of its' life to a little over two centuries.

Then, in the deepest recesses of his vast mind, he links Magic to himself, so that he knows immediately all that is done with, to, or from magic.  Learning too the intent behind it, and whatever the one who manipulated it learned from it.  (Queen of Clubs, to make the ACT secret.)

Act: Structure Magic.
Magus: By study, and learning.  Through spells that require verbal, somatic, and/or material components
Wizard: By study, and learning.  Through spells that require Words of Power
Priest: By Faith in, and powers granted from the Diety they serve.
Champion by Faith in, and powers granted by the Diety they serve.

I'm still working on the system.

Bjornrogn reveals then what he had been working towards. The first part of the structure of Magic guides the use of the magic of the Void, citing the paths by which the four magic accessing classes could learn magics. First by the study and learning of arcane secrets known only to a few, requiring a skilled tongue, some agility for ritual, and oftentimes a bit of particular herb or rare materials. The next was through simple faith in the deities, though how this could grant powers was unknown at this time for no gods had delineated the best way to gain their favor in worship.

Regardless, the magic of the Great Void begins to gain definition and careful experimentation revealed many things to the small group of wise people of the Pa-Ta tribe. This group of twenty elders met in secret and carefully began to plan a grand cabal to learn all the secrets of magic they could, it was surely the only way for the Pa-Ta tribe to gain the favor of the gods...

(OOC: No problem, nice ACT, I'm excited to see the full plan. Part 1 is complete!)

Act: Create three jawed moray eels that grow throughout their life, of a little over two centuries.

The Three-Jawed Moray Eels began to crisscross through the oceans of Lerret 2, like spears through the water. They were not the first newly introduced species but certainly the most intentional so far here. Some ACTs had been cast widely concerning life and these found many forms here and there, but the planet seemed to be corralling this life over centuries and farming it after it had grown numerous. Small sharks and lizards were common, as well as mammalian rodents and a few of the larger kinds...

The eels find many strange forms that swam within the waters, though many were recognizable from Lerret's lifeweb, some blob-like and others looking like fish but were actually a lure for predatory underwater vents, this seemed to support the idea that Lerret 2 was alive itself. Watching the eels, Bjornrogn found almost everything to function very much the same as it might've on Lerret's ocean, but much of the plant life and ground-based animal life was a faux equivalent, even fake landstrider crabs and slimes, an extension of 'Inner-Lerret' as if Lerret 2 itself were a puppeteering lifeform. The Bear-god noticed that the Eels seemed to eat well regardless, almost everything they might've eaten on Lerret still gave them nutrition here on Lerret 2. Over the centuries to come, they would grow fantastically large, but luckily their homes could provide an ample supply of meat.

Perhaps Bjornrogn could even commune with the thing. However, something Bjornrogn also noticed was that he could sever the connection of the 'Inner-Lerret' and the faux-life with a quick ACT, make them all independent and suddenly they might begin to fulfill roles like those on Lerret Prime for they were like puppets currently...

Act (Queen of Clubs): Gain knowledge instantly of all use, modification, creation, the intention of use, of all magic. (Secret, Queen of Clubs.).

A shadow is cast upon this ACT, a secret deed, accomplished unbeknownst to the other Deities. Bjornrogn sees none of his siblings watching at this moment, so he ACTs. He appears to tie one of the Ley Lines directly to his middle toe on his front paw...He would know when someone cast a secret upon the magic or acted in some obscured way...Most recently, the Magic had only been added to with new elemental power and natural power, however, any further changes would alert the bear god now secretly. Of course, none of the Deities knew this and would act in accordance with their values...

OOC: This is an opening for RPing a conflict if anyone wants to play with Bjornrogn!
Another Note: The Card is laid out in the Card thread, but is used in conjunction with this ACT.

Re: The First Age: Acts of the Old World

Ayrmith knew the age was coming to a close and that he needed to help finish his plans. With the rise of humans, he wasn’t sure if his final act in the age would be a boon or a plague. The humans may use it to protect themselves or wipe out the creatures of creation. The creatures of creation may use it to wipe out humans. Ayrmith smiled as he shaped his body, separating the storm from his base nature of air.

He then used all the power of the storm along with his will to shape his ACT. The Lord class would be upgraded to the Elemental Lord class. It would represent power and the key to understanding the elemental powers.

The Elemental Lord will be able to communicate with a creature (or cultivator) with a matching element (or elements) that the Elemental Lord is cultivating.

The Elemental Lord will be able to compel a creature (or cultivator) with a matching element (or elements) that the Elemental Lord is cultivating. The creature must have a 20% cultivation level for the elemental connection to work. The Elemental Lord must have a higher cultivation level than the creature being compelled.

The Elemental Lord’s cultivation level will increase their charisma, meaning that the higher their cultivation level the higher their charisma will grow. (This bonus will also increase if the Elemental Lord chooses to cultivate more than one element)

The Elemental Lord will receive insights on the uses of the elemental energy, including the Elemental Gateways, Elemental Evolution Path, and Element Cultivation.

The Elemental Lord’s power will also be limited by the number of creatures (or sentients) that follow his order. An Elemental Lord without followers will be weaker than an Elemental Lord that has followers.

Ayrmith ACTs to upgrade the Lord class to the Elemental Lord class.

Many edicts went into the last ACT of Ayrmith, something that normally spelled doom for an ACT. This time, however, it seemed to fit into the System's programme quite nicely, still building upon that which the deity had already crafted and negotiated. It tied elemental magics to the Lordship's class and bound them together. Something akin to perks suddenly appeared within the scant few Lords now in creation. These Lords were mostly elementalists, and already knew of cultivation in an instinctual way, they had little organization yet, though that quickly changed as they felt the compelling forces of charisma whenever they were around some sources high in elemental energies...they drew upon this strength and the strength of their followers to perform great feats of elemental power.

The Dark Wolf pack called the Redfangs had largely become the world's greatest warrior species under the tutelage of the latest pack leaders, the Lord of the Pack at this time was called Ash and all of the Redfangs served him and his favorite females. Their Pack had finally reached the other side of the world, completely circumnavigating the Southern Continent and had begun exploration of the Chained Mountains. They'd chased firebirds across the continent and even convinced some to fly with the Pack as their elemental eyes and ears in return for neverending flames to bathe in...

Another creature, small and unimportant as it might be in the grand scheme, was the Curley leafroller, a 3-segmented insect that bends leaves around it, allowing it to roll where it wanted to go. They lived in earthen colonies, not unlike the LiAnt farms, but with great hives that rose above ground often forming large territories consisting of several hives spread out like diminutive cities. Hundreds of them worked under the direction and scent of the Mothers. They crafted their cities, and scavenged food, protecting their territories with soldiers. This one had begun to cultivate by accident but soon connected thoughtfulness to the activity as it learned the skill. Many of these tiny arthropods began to learn this then, both by scent and observations. They worked exclusively with elemental earthen materials, and so in this way, the first Elemental Queen took her place. The strength of the hive began to grow and even began to outclass some of the other hives. In time these newest elementalists began to grow in power, strength, and physical size; as their Hive grew to reach the Southern Continent via elemental gateways.

This did not go unnoticed by one of the humans. This one had grown up with the Old Word for Ayrmith and had sought to understand the Deity's elemental message. Now he was an Elemental Lord, the Priest, and his family had grown considerably in the last few generations as they began rearing the next generation, he stood before one of the Earth Queens, surrounded by soldiers. He began to use the power against her and she attempted the same. They stood quietly for a long time, each attempting to overpower the other, to recruit them...

This event did not go well for the Earth Queen, as she broke the stalemate and an all-out battle ensued, many a life died that day. Her daughters swore revenge on the humans of Southern Jungle Tribe, the first new Tribe of humans...

Re: The First Age: Acts of the Old World

Plutocrus observed creation from his vantage point. What else did it need? His mind spun with a Grand Plan, but that would take many more resources to complete. Now was not the time for Grand Plans, now was the time for Finishing Touches. He could already feel the Closing of the Age as AO had warned.

He could have one last ACT to do, that would be his final accomplishment of the Age. He looked back over the previous ACTs He'd done. They were practical and would serve great purpose. And that was Good. Though they may have some aesthetic value on their own, this time he would make something that would be valuable solely because of its beauty. An animal that would bring joy to those that beheld it.

While they would contribute to pollination, for he was incapable of making something that didn't do work, their efforts would be far less than those of the Libees. They would have great wings, some of the biggest being nearly a foot across, all decorated with color.

Ah. yes. The colors. Some he designed with oranges and whites, some he colored in greens, all emerald and dark green, and some in bright blues and light greens. He was an artist, and these wings are his masterpiece. Faster and faster he worked, thousands of color patterns being brought in and artistically arranged in his mind's eye.

Finally, he was done. he surveyed his patterns, picked only the finest, and set about using the mutations to turn the existing insects into a sustainable population of these new beautiful bugs.

He hoped these things survived and thrived. It had been an interesting experiment to try and make a thing aesthetically pleasing, but with little other value. Maybe he would try that again in the future. Now, as the Libees before them, these too needed a name. Although the individual colorings and variations would undoubtedly be categorized and given funny names by the future scholars who studied them, the beings as a whole were to be a monument to the time he tried to make a flying insect beautiful. They would be Beautiflies.

ACT: Plutocrus creates Beautiflies.

And so it was! With a bit of timey-wimey twisting, Plutocrus evolves these beautiful arthropods linked back to the origin of the species. With mitochondria and genes, these little creatures were wide-spread, fast reproducing little critters, who seasonally attempt a great crossing of the Ocean, to mate and lay their eggs. From North to South and vice versa, annually. This migration ended with a great depositing of bodies, after mating and making the journey, they died. However, this exchange of nutrients from one continent to the other invariably began to become part of the ecology of the lifeweb, for all the scavenger beetles, gargoyle-Spiders, insectivorous birds, LiMantises and LiAnts, along the way; it was a payday that ensured a new generation of insectivores. They also helped many of the flowering plants across the continent, and in so doing, insuring their spread as well.

The new humans of Pa-Ta learned of the Beautiflies while exploring some of the lands around Pa-Ta. The flittering insects inspired many to create the first art, a crude attempt to recreate their beautiful and entrancing colors. Beyond these new admirers at least one little Beautifly, freshly hatched, cast it's multifaceted gaze towards the Moons...

Re: The First Age: Acts of the Old World

Cungto looked upon the world and saw that he had one Major Accomplishment left in him for this Aeon. He was sure it would ring loud and true, where classes only gave an initial boost. This would provide continual Impetus. Leveling, he had made Experience for this precise reason after all.

He Was Thankful for Perenna, for her creation would greatly aid the creatures, and as the System worked using the best ways to show the most amount of information they could understand, and since all living things had souls, he tweaked it so when they slept leveling would happen.

After Gaining an X, amount of XP, they will gain a level. Following that, they will achieve another level. X would be roughly equivalent to living safely. for about a month. This would mean 1 month, 2 months after that, 3 months after that, 4 months... and so on. Assuming someone lived for 52 years after they gained their ability, they'd be level 35. This could be greatly improved if they lived a dangerous life.

There would be 4 Primary Benefits. Given each level.

First, For every hyper specialist stat that was a part of the class foci, they'd have a 1/2 chance of increasing it by 1/4 what the original level provided, and for all non-class stats, they'd have a 1/221 chance of raising it by about 1/6 what a level 1 class boost would provide.

Secondly, For Skills, They'd be able to choose from a 1d6 amount of skill level increases or playing a tree game with chance, selecting the focus and specific skill, but not the topic. Gaining a guaranteed 6 skill increases for playing the game.

Thirdly, a healed body, and A rush of Euphoria. While this healing couldn't fix missing body parts, it could heal serious blood loss, and broken bones, even poison, and disease.

Finally, The Most Important Facet, Perks. Whereas the Other Aspects could be considered necessary and practical. This was a vital component that would happen at the End of Leveling. Perks are a myriad of things, and Cungto saw the perk-system unraveling. Thus he reinforces it with another act in that single moment. Perks are improvements, changes, or specific abilities, based on their current capabilities, even previous perks. These can be brand new abilities provided there is some basis in their capabilities beforehand, being specialized abilities and not broad transmutation magic level ability. Though randomly given, they may select between one of 6 perks.

Again, Cungto saw that a single instance or trial may be needed, and he noted to create an example to portray leveling correctly.

Cungto looked around for a way to express it more thematically, so he looked down.
In a small forest lay a small family of Corgis, one of the pups, less than a month old, had been grievously injured by what appeared to be a snake bite. This Cungto saw as a great example, for unlike his brother's, it had a small pair of wings and had taken the Transmuter class, a class with its major magic already defined.

So, he looked into this small winged corgi pup's dreams and let out a test run of intent into it, for all creatures would soon experience what this Corgi experienced in the world of dreams, albeit with dreams suited to them.

Ruffles saw themself in a broad field with plenty of bones. It was exciting and felt more powerful and healthy than it was, in strange ways. But it decided to rush to the bones. It felt trepidation, for he saw various bones being handled by new friends. Whose butt should it sniff? They all looked Like Ruffles? Each was doing something else; one was digging holes, another was playing with a ball, Ruffles was envious, but as it looked, he saw two different paths, one with many bridges and the other where he could run directly to them. Thus it ran towards them. As he interacted with the ball player, he felt elated to see one new friend and felt more skilled. Cungto saw the Dog had been unlucky and only gained one skill. Gaining The Chasing a ball skill +1 precisely.

After a While, done with playing his new friend, Ruffles looked around and saw 6 paths. Each one with a different Dog, doing something different. One was a Corgi, like him flying in the sky, he couldn't fly, but he felt that he could fly with that Corgi if he went. Another created walls of bones and then bit them having endless bones to eat. Another also played with a Ball though it seemed to be better at chasing red balls, His Favorite. Then Another led to a place more colorful than his standard, it felt terrifying, but he could see so much more. Yet Another Corgi seemed more robust than he as it fought snakes. Ruffles was afraid of snakes, but they couldn't deal with another corgi being injured, so they ran off to help. Finally, the Unseen path had been one where the Dog was making powerful bites but missed more often than expected.

Cungto saw the truth behind each path. The First was enhancing the Corgi's wings so he could fly with them. Another had him gaining a Transmutation specialization, making bone walls would be easy for the Corgi. There could be much more complicated abilities than that, he knew,  just for transmuters being able to recreate a map of the area from what they know of it, for instance. Another would enhance his Red Ball(actually just a kind of fruit, corgis dont eat.) Specialization for Ball Chasing By 1, the weakest perk of the lot he imagined. The Colorful World would increase Corgi's Color Vision stats. The  Robust Corgi fighting snakes would be a long-term investment for that Corgi, for it would gain a minor stat focus for snake fighting. The last would give some sort of powerful bite attack with horrible accuracy. Cungto was sure that would have been a mistake.

Thus, when the Corgi continued on the path in this dream, it saw something was missing, for the snakes were all dead, but it felt it was better equipped to fight the snakes.

As it headed to the Corgi of its dream, it woke up more potent than before.

Cungto Creates the Leveling System.
Cungto spends 2 acts creating the Perk System.

Whence it was set, then it began, for at that very moment, hundreds of thousands of creatures began leveling on the darker side of Lerret. Dreams became the User Interface of the Level Chapter, and since most creatures did not level every day or even every week, they still had plenty of regular dreams as well. Cungto added a huge chapter to the System and forced some switching around of the table of contents, but ultimately it enabled every lifeform that Dreamed, of a way to level up. It also performed some short-term mutations, like the Source. These Perks were highly sophisticated in their usage, but it did require discipline and the ability to be a 'good boy', while in this dream state. Not all creatures had the same mental fortitudes, however, and not necessarily by species! Even this failsafe outcome had been anticipated, by this new Advanced System: Second EditionTM sourcebook.

Some of the simple life, the tiniest of creatures would only ever achieve a level 0 before they were eaten or split into two new level 0 prokaryotes, similar things could be said of the common slimes. Others, such as the long-lived Elder Forest Trees and the Great Eels of Lerret 2 could reach the very highest levels potentially, only a few had died so far and none from age. The Unicorns were already level 23 Druids! Everyone's favorite draconians often grew to reach incredible levels too, the oldest currently is level 89(after several nights of leveling), those in the mountains nearby called it Bonespur the Mountain Dragon, for in its age it had become more fearsome looking, it was a level 89 Defender Draconian blessed by the Source, the creature might never die.

One particular style of arthropod, an evolution of the land crab, The MinMax-Spider, had a member that gained close to 30 levels of Trickster, its life's plight extremely dangerous for it, subjectively and therefore it had become a rare monster after surviving so many harrowing near-misses, it had beaten fire, birds, other spiders, all of the LiInstects, even Storm Wind and Flooding Waters...So changed by its myriad options for leveling that it had become a dangerous predator to any creature many more times larger than itself. It never lay still, for it was driven by instinct now, genetically, to level in order to cast its offspring far and wide.

Among the humans of the Jungle Tribe and Pa-Ta Tribe on the Southern Continent, leveling became a day of celebration for many. Some humans gained heads of hair, varying in color, this was amongst the most common perks, enforced by a new thing. Vanity, for sentient beings often loved to preen and admire themselves. Another was fat stomaches to carry around lots of food. Other smarter humans chose brawn and strength-based classes, or the active agility classes such as Tricksters, Priests, Gamblers, and Ayrsmiths. The elders turned sometimes to the Scholarly classes, or Champions, Lords, Transmuters, and Wizards. Those who could not or would not do these often chose from the remaining classes, like the Defenders, the Farmers, the Lawbringers, Shifters, and Druids. Although these last few were uncommon choices, they formed the last bit of strands between the other classes, these other classes could not live without these types of people in a cohesive society, with great plenty instead of scratching cave walls for food and cowering in fear (and no one needed reminding how well a person could do alone in the world). These five classes became more prominent then, being called the Pillars. Each being held to a higher standard, yet enjoying greater power and influence. It was the Lawbringer who offered up the Oath, that would allow their communities to exist in a kind of harmony, that they could design. The Oath of the Five Pillars made the First kingdom that day, as the Five Monarchs convened their first court of stone, natural green saplings, vines, trees bearing fruits, and leaves with plenty of light and shade. Each monarch is called the Pillar of their class community. Thus it was that the Pillar of Druids as guardians holding back nature for the tribes, the Pillar of Farmers as the feeders of the tribes, the Pillar of Lawbringers gave the tribes order, the Pillar of Defenders gave the tribe homes and defenses, and the Pillar of Shifters gave humanity a look into the wider world as the scouts; they ruled all of early humankind together.

This new tribal dynamic would solidify its Oath ever more so, as their experiment began to bear fruits. The Pillar Tribe prospered then in those early days, achieving a primitive society where each had a place, ruled by a council.

Re: The First Age: Acts of the Old World

Thackus'es final Act for the Aeon. . . he thought long and hard. First he reshaped the power of magic from Bjornrogn. Now, he would further define the Old Ways. For wizards, those who spoke The Old Speech, Thackus would give them the power to manipulate spells through the spoken word. He simply rechanted The Dragon Charm, The Charm of Making. Henceforth, through the Old Ways, Wizards now had the power to reproduce any effect that Thackus can ever created through ACTs, although in an infinitesimal power in comparison.

"Anal nathrak, uthvas bethud, do che-ol di-enve."
"Anal nathrak, uthvas bethud, do che-ol di-enve."

The words of Thackus rang throughout the Cosmos as the first incantation. The first spell. The Bear created magic itself, but Thackus sought to create his own Sister Magic to the Bear's. Bjornrogn is not the only Lord of the Arcane. The spell of life before life, death before death.

"Serpent’s breath,
charm of death and life,
thy omen of making."

"Serpent before Serpent, Breath before Breath! Charm Of Death, Charm of Life before Death and Life. Thy omen of making!"

Thus, the powers of the Charm Of Making came into being.

ACT: Thackus, by speaking The Dragon Charm, grants Wizards the ability to recreate all his Acts, in an infinitesimal way.

Thackus cast his Dragon Charm so that his sentences carried the weight of Incantation. Each of his ACTs from this point forward could be replicated via reciting the words. These would be in effect much more compact and light in their magical usage, by comparison, their effects similarly were reduced as well as contingent upon the intellect and wisdom even at times their physical strength of the casters. This seemed most relevant to the Magus, the Wizard, and the Sorceror to a lesser extent. The Magus and the Wizard relied upon knowledge of the magic words themselves to provide the incantations necessary. Though Magus often found their Class empty and bereft of any knowledge at all...

However, it remained that every party that ventured from the Lands of Pa-Ta and the humans would be hard-pressed not to choose a Wizard for their adventures. They now played a vital role in resource supplies such as water, defense through deadly lighting bolts and fire, and even by crafting tiny draconians that served a master for a time before running out into the wilds. They quickly rose in prominence and power, though few had the inclination to become a master of the mystic arts. Each tribal settlement under the 5 Pillar nation had at least one Wizard, but often two or three who often worked in conjunction with one another.

Even so, getting this knowledge was hard, often it had to be discovered by oneself, the Words, the secretive knowledge...For now only word of mouth could spread the knowledge and so it was a tenuous prospect for any student of a Wizard.

Re: The First Age: Acts of the Old World

"These unicorns, brother. I like these unicorns." Pax said, watching the creation of Durehan prance and gallop around the world, protecting nature.
"Indeed, sister... I also find them agreeable. Though it is regrettable that they have sacrificed so much for their immortality."
"Yes... regrettable." Pax continued to watch them for some time. "They have given me an idea, brother." She turned her gaze from the void and back toward her kin. "A new project. A new way for us to exert our influence as time marches on. We will make our mark on humanity in time, but it may be useful for us to have other tools at our disposal. A way for us to guide from a distance."
Humilis nodded at this, suddenly deep in thought.
"We HAVE been looking for a new project. Now that the void is full of a multitude of creatures, and humans... it may be useful to make ourselves known in the void in ways slightly more... direct."
Pax nodded.
"Indeed. Direct. Let us start by erecting a place of power. A foundation for later acts."
"Yes... and we can also place into the world the beginnings of our own sort of... 'unicorn'."
"Yes indeed."

ACT: Humilis and Pax infuse their moon with divine energies that reflect Humilis and Pax's own outlook. Creatures born there tend to live longer, are more healthy, and also tend to have personalities that bias toward justice, compassion, self-sacrifice, and community.

The Twin God's moon was tempered from their own mystical energies, saturating the moon with its powerful ACT. From within the moon, long-dormant seedlings found deep under drifts of moon dust began to sprout and foster new things among either the more simple or flight-bound life that existed on Lerret. There had been fungi and thick but stunted forests here and there for generations, as the firebirds only came here anymore after a span of many years and not for long. It was not too wet and not too dry, a perfectly temperate climate but for the snows that fall during the four times yearly Chess-Turn(a month to explain the revolution of a moon around the Chessboard and happens to most of the moons except for Dadacar's moon). Of the new things that had spread across the moon, the Majestic Antelope, a powerful creature that held even mightier antlers upon his brow. Though quick, the antelope was fair and even to all who showed him respect. He was called Haku and his family herd had evolved here over the successive generations, just as its cousins on Lerret had. He gathered his family to watch as the next thing came to be just over the hill, where they were joined by the Flying Leaf Roller Beetles colony to witness the coming of a new thing...

ACT: Humilis and Pax create a new species of creature evolved from avians called 'Coatl': omnivorous feathered serpents with wings, capable of flight. Unlike their prior creations, they evolve this creation exclusively on their moon.

From within a glowing egg, hatched the first two Coatl, and beyond them, several more clutches of the creature nests could be seen. At first, the little ones blinked and writhe about their nest surfaces to stretch out tiny downy feathered wings. They quickly rose up into the skies after that, some pursuing flying insects before, a cloud of the little coatl chicks, who soon learned behavior to school like fish in the low gravity of Humilis and Pax's moon, at least until adulthood when they could survive and hold their own...How exactly they might develop remained to be seen in the next AGE.

Re: The First Age: Acts of the Old World

In a dream, Dadacar sends visions to Aruun, the first King of Men. A wall of living flame provides the backdrop for a series of stories Dadacar narrates. A group of men overcoming a massive beast of tooth and claw. Aruun scaling the Chain Mountains. Men battling other men. In vision after vision Dadacar shows Aruun what humanity can do if they continue to challenge themselves, even when it comes at great cost.

ACT: Dadacar appears in the dreams of the first King of Men to inspire them to seek out challenges to overcome.

The delicate nature of humankind was of an adaptable quality, however, their minds were innocent to the universe, and what dangers lay far beyond the jungles. However, when Aruun the First King, first began to receive visions, showing great ACTs of strength, agility, cunning, and prowess, which he could never hope to achieve, he felt he was very average. When he saw the visions of the wall of living flame, he was mortified. Then he noticed that he was seeing himself scaling these heights and undergoing these labors. He began to ready himself, gathering his bravest friends to him, they armed themselves with simple weapons, cudgels, and bone knives, they protected themselves with hardened leather straps. Their Wizard was sure he could conjure water from the very sky. Their Shifter was sure she could scout ahead when appropriate, the Defender was the largest and best equipped for what lay ahead. The Trickster was very distracting but lightened everyone's burdens with an oddly funny moment here and there...Soon the party was ready to attempt that which had never been tried before, now where any human had ever ventured...

Re: The First Age: Acts of the Old World

Cungto was confident and satisfied. Luck played a huge part in his ascendance to the role of Alpha, and boy was it a treat to be one of the only two deities to be awake at this time. You didn't do some things with the other God's watching, even if you feel bad for a particular underdog.

Before all the animal life, right after grass grew on Lerret, Thackus had acted to try to create his take on souls. But unfortunately, he was too rash and greedy, hoping to do something in fewer acts than it would take without considering the acts on the board. These Proto-souls were The Tomeborne.

Cungto wasn't confident what situation lay inside the Archive for the Tome-borne. However, he did feel sure that as they were existences that could exist but had failed to, some would always want to leave the Archive of their own volition, and Cungto was too happy to oblige.

Now, while Cungto loved the idea of making the obelisks for their potential aid in this endeavor, he realized he had no reason to do so in such a way. In Fact, he could make a portal nexus of his own a local phenomenon inside the Rook's Castle Behind the Elemental lord, that would allow teleportation Between Lerret The Chessboard and The Archive, for all portals would be two way. However, all portals would show up and disappear randomly and teleport to random locations on both places, and look differently from one another though operate in the same way. This would be a transit station, that the obelisks wouldn't grant, or at least according to what Cungto believed. The Portals themselves wouldn't let the entire ocean gush out, but would allow creatures to take items with them. A puddle portal that Could lead to the deepest Depths of The Ocean, and last for years, While A Door portal Could lead right to The Part of the Archive of this very act and last not even a single second.

Cungto Creates a portal nexus in the Lord's Rook's Castle between Lerret, and The Archive.

Re: The First Age: Acts of the Old World

Plutocrus had been preparing for a great rest between Ages, until he heard the decree of AO. Now he was caught off-guard. He had an ACT he must accomplish, but he had made no plans for what to use this power for.

Calming himself he thought quickly.  Inspired by his watching of the Minmax Spider he had an idea of a concept he could introduce... Dadacar may have chosen the most average human to exalt, but Plutocrus had more interesting designs. With some Focus and the power of the ACT, he would introduce the creation to concept of Arete, a sort of personal excellence.

While several beings HAD strived to be the best before at things, usually related to survival, now the idea would spread that one SHOULD be the best they can be at a skill or ability. More than just a means of survival, but as a moral imperative. What they chose to strive to do well in would matter less, just that they chose to excel in a thing.

Of course without any sort of mechanism in the System for this, it amounted to little more than a divine pep talk for all of creation, but Plutocrats hoped it would bring about some interesting effects. And it really was the best thing he could come up with on short notice for a single ACT.

ACT: Plutocrus introduces reality to Arete.
