The First Age: Acts of the Old World
As others created the forces and measures that would shape the cosmos in the eons to come, Durehan pondered his own working. With an elemental world brought forth to shape in the future, those forces the others created would play a central part in the way of things to come.
Time. Time would separate the eons and give a shape to the tapestry of their creation. Magic, too, would be a force that could shape the world - or worlds - of their creation as that Time passed. A means further than those of their creations could influence that future themselves.
The Great Chessboard would make for an interesting diversion for them, though perhaps it could even be tied into the very game they were working on now. A game of creation. How soon would their own endeavors run afoul of another's plans? A true contest would result then. And with the Old Ways and Speech created by Thackus, a dialogue would be had going forward.
But what endeavor was meant to last forever? Time would continue onwards now, marching on inevitably into infinity. So too would their creations, unless... So the God of Nature acted. An unending cycle of progress could be limited. At times, one thing might need to end to further another. So he created.
Durehan creates the cycle of Death.
Going forward, while Life might be brought forth in the cosmos, it would be tempered and balanced by its own finite nature. Only the Gods would remain Immortal.
In his infinite wisdom, Durehan ACTs. His first was to craft a hypothetical law, which had no basis in reality thus far, but could in time, for with creation many things could be possible. However, it seemed that life weighed heavily on the minds of the assembled divinities, acting to limit potential future life, and thus enabling other life to flourish seemed advisable. The Cycle of Death was created.
