As Cungto looked around the Infinite Void, he focused on the life around him, for they were to be the ones that would play this Grand Game of Life. Then, he looked upon his most beloved Creation, the Chessboard. The Lucky White King and The Queen protected the King with its glowing Aura. There was promise here. However, so many pieces are left unchecked with their potential. With this in mind, he turned to the weakest and most prevalent of them, The pawns, for life was numerous and held numerous Ideals.
With this in mind, he looked upon his other gods, and he saw which classes they'd be happy to help represent their followers, those that would follow them; even with this, however, he saw that Bjorn and Thackus wished for more than 1 class, and he was happy to oblige. So, though Ayrmith was quiet, Jarrok died and had been reborn into Dadacar, and Ao would not bespeak to the lowly gods besides letting out the Wrath of acts that did too much. Nevertheless, they, too, required representation, and he had plenty of classes to make, so he happily obliged.
For, with the Honored, and the Other God's Classes in Mind, he looked upon the board and saw divisions, where he could make the pieces mean something more. Along with ideas for the positions of the existing Classes.
So, without much further thought, he went into its mechanics. The 16 Classes would be The Wizard, Sorcerer, Sourced From Thackus, Humilis' Monk, Perenna's Shifter, Durehan's Druid, and Dadacar's Priest, Bjorn's Magus and Champion, and Plutocrus' Transmuter. Then, There Were the Honored Gods classes Jarrok's Earthen Defender, Ayrmith's Airsmith, and Ao's Lawbringer. He was glad he could pin an Incredibly lawful Class on Ao as that would really help with the board arrangement for the classes. He knew he was not a lawful diety, even with the way his own acts seemed to be the backbone for information, for some reason. He really needed to question the operations of his other gods. Thanks made magic before the right part was there, and his attempt at a catalog of life was too ambitious. He needed to make sure he didn't turn out like him, even in this act he did here. He wished not to do too much, and he was spending two actions on this single aspect. He hoped that was enough to avoid the Wrath of Ao.
Those were just the classes, not attributed to himself, even if he would help in their Creation. No, the ones he was related to were a mere handful. The Class he would consider his Personal was the Gambler. Though other Pawns needed to be filled in, and Thus a Couple of Other Classes were Born the Dungeon Lord, The Trickster, and The Farmer. Yes, he wasn't ashamed at the Fact he made two luck-focused classes for himself. Tricksters, Tricked, and Gamblers Gambled required Luck, but one was a Street Magician, and the other was a patron of casinos and had violent bouts of uncertainty. They were very different in practice.
As an aside, He was well aware Classes would have name Shortenings even within his own mind. He already did so. For example, earthen Defenders named for the God of the Earth would likely shorten their names to The Defenders. At the same time, The Dungeon Lords would become broader even if their class abilities would reflect the capabilities of a Dungeon Lord.
To portray the Classes on the Chess-board, he couldn't change the pawns themselves, but he could imbue them, much as he did the White King. Separate the class system into 16 parts, so other gods would be able to change one Class without messing with the others.
There were two aspects he utilized in Dividing them Up. First was White and Black. The Classes related to Chaos and well... Evil were White. If a Class was more suited to leaning in that direction, they would be put on the White Side, where The Lucky King would lead the Charge. The Other Side is more aligned to the Game side of his Aspects and Order. He did so because Chess was a game, but two sides, good and evil, existed in everyone. Listening or obeying the orders of another was what truly made man. Lords followed no one and tended to flout the rules they placed on those below them. While Bankers gave the money and would break anyone who signed a contract with them with the letter of the law, using it as the ultimate shield. Neither was more or less evil than the other, but a Lawful man must have someone to be lawful.
The Other Side was who they held on their Back End. The Rooks were the Leaders. The Priests were Heads of Revolutions and potentially Religion, The Lords were heads of Dungeons and Countries if they were lucky, Transmuters were the heads of the Economy, and The Defenders were important heads of Military Affairs. The Knights were related to Animals and life, The Sorcerer was related to Mitochondria and the racial condition and mutations, The Shifters were Shapeshifters, The Druids were associated with the Nature of the Wilds, and the Farmers were about raising life and food production. The Bishops were the Magical Classes, The Wizard, The Magus, The Champion, and the Airsmith. Then there Were the Kings and Queens. The Two Kings were the Trickster and Lawbringer. The Two Queens, The Gambler, and The Monk.
So, With that knowledge in mind. The Board positions for the 16 Classes were,
White Rook | Priest | Transmuter | Black Rook |
White Knight | Sorcerer | Farmer | Black Knight |
White Bishop | Wizard | Magus | Black Bishop |
White Queen | Gambler | Monk | Black Queen |
White King | Trickster | Lawbringer | Black King |
White Bishop | Airsmith | Champion | Black Bishop |
White Knight | Shifter | Druid | Black Knight |
White Rook | Lord | Defender | Black Rook |

Now, while that alone was a long and valuable dissertation into the amount of thought, Cungto put into this and the reason he didn't act immediately, the question about the Class assignment was only one aspect. Every Creature had stats, and All Living Creatures would be able to select a class, not just the Sentients.
This was a simple choice for now, and just because it was offered to all didn't mean all had to take it, for once they did, they would no longer be able to change their Class.
The 16 Classes in this most primitive of States only offered a direction in life, and a moderate boost in stats, focused on their themes; in time, these classes, or at least some of them, would be more fleshed out.
Thus, he looked upon all the creatures, thought of many more possibilities, and then went through the 16 classes. Each Class would have a different focus on stat increases. Many states would be increased in this; it's just minor; left thumb strength while underwater wasn't exactly something many people would choose to wilfully increase by themselves. A lot of the stats were like that. Not all stats were even given to all races. After all, not all creatures even had left thumbs.
These stat focuses made them better as if they were natural talents. They didn't give the skill of experience but better natural ability. Learning still needed to be done, assuming the skills existed during their time. A man who never saw moondust might be creative with thinking with its natural capabilities but might not have the experience required to use it. However, the stat foci didn't actually exist, besides more general stats for some of them. It meant that someone good at gambling would be able to use that class-based affinity in related matters as well, with the further the skill is from the foci, the harder it is to port over those natural abilities.
So the Natural Stat Foci, for the Classes were.
Wizard: Intelligence or Wisdom/Words of Power
Sorcerer: Random Stat increases/The Source
Monk: Wisdom, Meditation
Shifter: Change
Druid: Nature, Charisma
Priest: Intimidation and revolution
Magus: Strength & Intelligence
Champion: Strength & Wisdom
Transmuter: Intelligence and Charisma
Gambler: Luck and Gambling
Earthen Defender: Defense and Force Field Magic
Airsmith: Dexterity and Gravity Magic
Lawbringer: Wisdom and the rites and duties of a Judge
Lord: Charisma and Management
Trickster: Luck and Deception
Farmer: Encumbrance and Farming
The Other God's Foci were beyond his Understanding, so Cungto couldn't theorize what they wanted, but Cungto had a reason for the Classes he implemented. Airsmiths were going to be useful for transportation with their innate Understanding of Chessium's gravity magic. Farmers were needed to supply food for the people of this world. Good Rulers were necessary, and thus The Lord, even if he had other reasons for implementing them. Aside from their explosive expertise, defenders would become great miners, allowing them to extract resources for great projects. Gamblers and Tricksters were helpful for another purpose as pure representatives of Luck. They'd allow others to understand the importance of Luck and allow for a Strong Representation of the Chaotic side. Besides, the purpose of life is to have fun.
Now, There were other classes he had considered the most significant of those classes, the Monster Class, for the various beasts. That was dismissed in the end.
However, the central aspect of the classes was how easy it would be to slot new abilities into it, things he planned to do in the Future, skills, leveling, special abilities for some classes, and more. So, much more. Not to be Done just yet, but something he had to be aware of. This would be a long-term project and a good start for what was needed.
Cungto Realized he hadn't even invented Interfaces yet. This would be a purely instinctual choice for now. That might mean sentients wouldn't even call them by their proper names for a while yet. Cungto loved the uncertainty.
Cungto Spent 2 Acts to Create the Basic Class System.
Initially, AO watched intently, seeing that a grand project was underway with the deft weaving of Cungto's ACT. The Ancient One watched silently as he thought he saw signs of overreach. His suspicions were quickly quelled as he saw this God tie these disparate parts up very neatly under the description of Classes, a variety of outcomes from a single choice. All essentially conveyed a mode of improvement and a track for their development within these Caste-like classes. It set out 16 different outcomes and the potential to climb higher, while simultaneously setting a primitive blueprint for society, completed with a bit of incidental moral underpinnings insofar as could be described so briefly as the Opposition of Lawful to Chaotic.
As the Basic Edition Class System floats out into the Void, by far the most complex of all universal constants, it began to Work. Randomly each creature would have the choice presented to them in the most understandable way but usually involved a risk of some kind, a choice of two dens for instance, or the ease of life allowing one to indulge in playful tricks. Sometimes they were young when the choice presented itself or at times they were very old, near the end of their lives, but most were in their prime years with plenty of life left within them. Here when they made a choice it brought upon them clarity of focus, the want, and natural inclination toward a variety of skills useful to the class.
Some of these inclinations were very useful on a primitive level but many skills that would be considered most useful had not been conceived of yet nor would any of the flora or fauna be able to utilize them in their current states. However, some were very well suited for natural environments and the mindset of many animals. The Earthen Defender was a popular choice among the nest-mates of the Libees, LiAnts, and LiMantis. Likewise much larger fish chose monks because of the attraction of silent meditation. A few of the arthropod gliders and the unburnt-out firebirds became Ayrsmiths, learning to properly guide themselves through the Aerosphere. The grazing giant snails often became the druids of their fungal kingdoms or farmers, while the quick legged lobsters often fell into the gambler class by accident making a choice between an easy meal or a sure meal a harder way, almost always ending in the lobsters losing a leg for the choice due to a clever predator. The Cliff crabs were adept at climbing verticle surfaces and some communities of the crabs began to develop a pension for magus and champion class creatures utilizing strength and a focused mind to navigate life on a vertical rockface. Sometimes an odd creature would choose one of the other classes but as of yet many had few followers, of course, this would change in time and as the capacity for intellect grew.
In only one community did it seem that all such things had come together. Large communities of fish had begun to form with many different classes within them, including Lord classes. Each seemed to excel in their own ways, adding their inclinations to the community. In the ocean, several communities like this clashed in campaigns with one another and traded members in a vast and dramatic interplay of secrets revealed and ultimate betrayals. The lands were still far too empty for large groups to become commonplace aside from the occasional Libee colony.
