Good old home sweet home

In reply to Adam Newman (msg # 1):

Keiko opts to follow Adam to his ranch after setting an alarm for tomorrow morning on her smartphone.

She mentions to Adam to her cook her steak[s] and any other meats around medium well and suggests they could put off the serious chatting until the meal was tabled.

Her contribution to the meal she knew Adam was cooking was frozen garlic toast, frozen mashed potatoes and brown rice.

She put a short sleeved Hawaiian shirt over her t-shirt.

She then placed her food contributions, some bottled juice and soda drinks, a container filled with water and some good tasting, medium ABV imported Chinese beer [grabbed from the Forster place] on a rolling cart if need be.

She had prettied herself by combing her hair straighter and out of her face fully ... and had added a little more make-up.

When Adam entered the kitchen, Keiko was focused on making sure she was ready to be social in a non-work setting and was closing her compact.

She soon put the object in a pocket, turned towards Adam then smiled at her host.

Note that the Forsters had both called Adam during the day concerning the airfield mostly and Keiko a little. Keiko wore very nice jewelry [necklace, plain earrings] tonight but nothing that signifies she is engaged or married. However, she had been wearing rings recently but Adam could see where the sun had lightened Keiko's skin.

Adam was brought back to reality when Keiko said "Adam, what days and hours did you need me?"

Adam shook his head a little like he was in a dazed and confused fog.
"Hmm? Oh days and hours?Sorry my mind wanders on occasion.
He let out a nervous laugh,he has never invited anyone to his Ranch before, not even his parents or siblings has ever been there. But then again when you basically fall off the planet and become an indentured servant to a psycho for a couple of years well it's hard to keep up with family.

"How about starting with 3 days week 9 to 5.  Monday, Wednesday and Friday? And if you want to get more hours you
can come in the other two days too. An hour lunch and you get 2 15 minute breaks. How does that sound?"
He turned the oven on for the garlic bread and put the brown rice and mashed potatoes in pots and got them cooking, he seasoned the potatoes with salt and butter and put butter in the brown rice. He put lids on them both and put them on low.
Putting the bread in the oven he pulled 4 steaks out of the fridge then seasoned it with garlic powder, onion powder, Cajun seasoning and salt. He let them sit while he checked on the grill and drank on the Chinese beer that Kieko brought.
Walking back in he turned the oven off and said,"Why don't you come out and keep me company while I grill our steaks? "

In reply to Keiko Forster (msg # 2):

Keiko was rummaging in the fridge and came out with some leftover chicken and put it on the cart.

When Adam responded with her hours she bowed.

After thinking for about four seconds Keiko said "I will see you tomorrow, Wednesday and Friday."

She pushed the cart out into the sunroom and commented at the grill "I trust my relations were very civil to you and your father. Also honor is important to my family."

She then planted herself in a chair and smiled. She then nibbled on some spicy flavored chips.

She then said "It is okay if you have queries for me."

While Adam took a breather and figured out a response, Keiko called her mother and in English mentioned the four day work week and the hours then rang off .. speaking in Japanese.

Adam waited until Keiko was off the phone and said,"Well that works for me."
He wrapped the chicken in some foil and placed it on the grill to warm up. He then said,"Well tell me your story. Tell me about yourself."

He put the steaks on the grill, he knew she wanted hers medium well and his is medium rare..
He took a chip and dipped it in his homemade salsa,"Try it...it's pretty good if I say so myself. All the ingredients I grew in my garden outback."

He finished off his beer then opened up a new bottle of Gentleman Jack and put ice in 2 glasses then poured somein the glasses, then added coca cola and sat the glass in front of Keiko.
He grabbed a platter and placed the foiled chicken on it then another one and put his steaks on it,he waited minutes, exactly then pulled her steaks off.

"Yeah I know I grilled you 2, hey one for lunch or s midnight snack." He placed the platter on the cart and said"Grab the drinks."
They went inside to the dining room where the table was set as well as condiments. He placed her steaks on 2 separate plates then went for the other food he made both of their plates then sat down.

Keiko plopped carefully into a seat and smiled when Adam stood up just prior to her sitting and then sitting down again.

She nibbled on steak and chicken while thinking of what to say.

She sipped from the beer she had bought and said "My name is Keiko Forster and I have no middle name. In 199X my [American father] went to London, England with my technically half-brothers Greg and Brad after an amicable divorce. Dad met [full Japanese high up there businesswoman mother] and they fell in love, got married and six months later I was conceived. Four [?] years later we relocated to Tyler."

She had more beer and food and soon continued ..

She smiled "I learned my ABCs in the English school system and I gravitated towards mechanical stuff. Eventually I learned the ABCs of car repair and [I know my way around planes]."

She then ate and drank for awhile after asking "Any more queries, Adam?"

Adam was chowing down on his steak and listening to Keiko then she asked if he had anymore queries, he swallowed his steak and opened a soda after finishing off his Gentleman Jack and Coke, he took a swallow then cleared his throat.
He smiled at her and was glad they were eating salad or spinach, it would be all up in his teeth.
"No not that I can think of right off the top of my head. I know this probably isn't politically correct but I like to know if the people that I work with are Metas, so ate you? A meta that is?"
Adam took another swallow of his coke and wish he had some stronger right now.

Keiko was making her current portion of potatoes into a small Devil's Tower a la UHF as she asked for any questions and stopped when Adam got the query into a complete sentence.

Keiko apologized "Sorry, focused on goofing around. And yes I am a meta. Making, building and fixing mechanical stuff is my forte. I am quite dexterous as well."

She ate some potatoes while looking at Adam ..

Adam nodded his head after he finished off his coke,"Just to let you know, my hours will be kinda flaky sometimes. I'm a handler to 2 Were's.  I also manage their home from them but I have cameras set up here, in my office and st there place to keep an eye on things. Now where I don't have any sort of powers if one of my Were's get in trouble I have plenty of time travel wormholes to walk from wherever I may be to get where they are within the matter of seconds. And once I get there I will treat them like the dogs they are trying to be. Then I will take out the trash."

Time seem to have slipped away from the two as they laughed and talked with each other until almost 2 in the morning. Adam told Keiko about his two years captivity with the wolf. After they cleaned the kitchen they ended up getting 2 pints of ice cream out of the freezer and ate those while they talked like they have known  each other for years...just like they were best friend's.

Keiko whistled and said "No prob about the hours you keep. So you manage a home for two weres and handle them. What do those jobs entail if I may ask? And won't they understand if you need to do less for them? And what was that about treating 'them like the dogs they are trying to be?'"

Keiko smiled and finished off her garlic bread .....

"Oh no you misunderstood me. If anyone tried to break in or hurt them...I would treat them like a dog.  I would take care of them and they would realize that they fucked up."
Adam did a shot of his GJ and it made his eyes water as he let out a "Damn that's good!"

"Oh they already know. We sat down and discussed my business plan and I hired someone to clean and cook for them. When there is a full moon I am there to take care of them and dress them the next day. ."

His Grandfather Clock in the hallway chimed 2 o'clock and a big clap of thunder hit and it was like the sky opened up as the rain started pouring down.

"Yikes. Have we been talking and eating this whole time?"
Adam heard the downpour and turned his head to his bat windows and shook his head
,"Well it looks like you won't be going anywhere tonight. You can stay in one of my guest rooms I have 4 of them. And there are showers in each of them and queen size beds as well. And don't argue about it, I wouldn't send out my worst enemy out in this storm, do you think I would send my best mechanic? Not...'

Keiko frowned at something "I appreciate your high praise but I have not earned it yet as I have mostly taken computer testing here and filled out paperwork to make some Government computer thrilled. I believe my dainty hands will be done with key pressing tomorrow morning unless the weather is terrible."

Keiko frowned as the tv weather lady announced the likelihood of worse weather.

She smiled a little, bowed and said "Thank you for the offer of one of your beds, Adam-San. Would you give me your truck keys so I can secure our vehicles."

She held out a hand ....

Adam looked outside then back at her,"How about you just follow me out and drive your truck into one of the garages? So it will be safe. This way if you have extra clothes you can change into them. Drive into the garage next to the one I drive into." He hands her a remote,"Here this way it will open and close and you can come inside to the mud room. That way you can grab a towel to dry off, it goes into the kitchen then I'll show you to one of the bedrooms. You might want to take a shower to warm up before you go to bed."

Adam stood up and took his phone out of his pocket and placed it on the table then slipped his boots on as well as his hat and stood by the door waiting for Keiko and an umbrella in hand for her.
