PRELIMINARIES 3: FINAL PRELIMINARY SHOWDOWN

Okay, the last round of the preliminaries is to run each of the normally-between-Missions moves.

Raid: All players gain one Shiny, and your Notoriety increases by one. Each time you choose this action, roll a die. If you roll less than or equal to your Notoriety, the Game Master will create a mercenary to pursue you, and your Notoriety is reset.

You all gain 1 Shiny!

Your team Notoriety increases by one!

I'll roll for this one...

09:11, Today: The GM rolled 2 using 1d6 ((2)).

NOPE, the raid wasn't enough to make any mercenaries//bounty hunters get sent after you yet. (Though just barely.)

Next up:

Meddle With Tech- Tell the GM what you’re trying to accomplish with tech and roll a die.
--If you roll a 6, you create the desired effect.
--On a 4 or 5, you discover the need of some odd part that you need first. For each part you’ve gathered, you may roll an additional die.
--On a 3 or less, the tech backfires. The GM always determines the exact effect of what happens.

Basically, Dr. Blubbert Glubner, the aqua scientist who's more commonly called The Chief, has all sorts of super-high-tech machines and equipment in his lab... Usually, none of them work yet, but he's decided that one of them is ready to test out.

So I ask you first: if this machine/experiment works properly, what will it do?

First come first serve, if I like it!

(In GAME MECHANICS terms, I have a plan for this, so don't worry about that. If it's good, it'll help.)

PRELIMINARIES 3: FINAL PRELIMINARY SHOWDOWN

"That's a BIG fish egg Chief." Smith muses as he looks over the nearest table of gadgets, gizmos and odds-and-ends in The Chief's lab.

Turns out it's a grenegg; a grapefruit sized hybrid grenade/egg. It's round and dull red in color with a bit of a squishy feel to it, and can be tossed or rolled before exploding in a slick, syrupy, revolting (to people like Smith at least) fish-goo, coating everything within a certain radius.

"Neat, if that thing actually worked we could really use one, or ten." Possibilities began swirling in Smith's mind; stunning corporate goons, putting the equivalent of an oil slick between them and any would-be assailants, or maybe even shorting out electronics.

11:55, Today: Smith rolled 3 using 1d6 with rolls of 3.  Meddle With Tech - Prelim 3 Raid.

Interested, Smith reaches for the orb with a curious gleam in his eye...

POP!

The lab (and Smith) are covered with goo.

A different nearby device, an experimental transmitter, gets goo in it, and goes off. It jams all radio frequencies for over 100 miles, for a good 10 minutes.

(The team's notoriety increases to 2.

14:19, Today: The GM rolled 1 using 1d6 ((1)).

OOPS... Somewhere, someone decides that whoever did that last raid must be responsible, and that those someones have now interfered in MegaCorp daily business operations once too often... A mercenary is hired...

Notoriety has now returned to 0.)

Finally:

Scouting Party -
Choose a single word as a Prompt for new information, and roll a die.

--On a 6, you add an undiscovered location to the world that has some beneficial item or
resource.
--On a 1, the Prompt backfires, and you’ve drawn the attention of something or someone nearby.
--On any other roll, the GM will reveal a new opportunity nearby.

Someone give me a one-word Prompt! (No hyphens!) First come first serve!

Re: PRELIMINARIES 3: FINAL PRELIMINARY SHOWDOWN

Elern looks at Smith.
Is that what was suppose to happen.  He asked.  Looking questionably at Smith.

One-word Prompt.  Daffodils.

OOC:
20:38, Today: Elern rolled 1 using 1d6 with rolls of 1.  One-word Prompt.  Daffodils.
I fear the dice roller got a grudge against one or more of us.

"...As everyone knows," says The Chief (Dr. Blubbert Glubner), "every part of the common daffodil is poisonous, and indeed the dermatosis known as daffodil itch or lily rash is probably the most common contact dermatitis reaction among florists. Well, a scouting party I sent out found that MegaCorp was growing a new species of even more dangerous daffodil, apparently as a part of working on some sort of new nerve-gas-type of chemical. Naturally horrified, the scouts set fire to the fields... but the smoke not only made some MegaCorp workers nearby sick-- which is nothing to us-- it also had the same result for a traveling merchant who was unloading some goods at the time. Now, the Traveling Merchants Society is threatening not to deliver to us-- which is unfortunate. We rely on them for certain shipments of medicines, vitamin supplements, and high-tech spare parts. We need to get back into their good graces..."

PRELIMINARIES 3: FINAL PRELIMINARY SHOWDOWN

Deadpan and somehow unsurprised at their grenegg misfortune, Smith turns to Elern, "Yes. I believe that's exactly how those work."

Smith attempts to wipe his face clean with the back of his hand, with poor results.

"First we need to get into some clean clothes Chief."

"... And daffodils, huh, who knew?" He trudges off, nearly slipping several times en route to the door, dripping and leaving a trail behind him in the goo. He exhales in a long sigh as he goes. "Sorry about the mess." he adds as an afterthought upon reaching the exit.
