The City
City Name: Arcadia
In What Decade Does The Story Begin: 2020s
What Makes This City Different From Every Other City:
- Scarred by Disaster: Just under 10 years ago Arcadia was rocked by an earthquake as a supervillain sought to obtain an item of immense power buried deep under the city and heroes rushed to stop him. The resulting shockwaves opened up a vast chasm in the centre of the city which, even after a decade of rebuilding, remains an ugly scar on the face of the city.
Districts, Boroughs and Neighborhoods:
The Bad Neighborhood - The Pit; the name given to the slums and shantytowns which have emerged at the edges (and even on the sides) of The Chasm. The living conditions are dangerous, even after a decade of work to secure the walls of the chasm shifting ground is still a possibility, and the people live cheek by jowl with heavy plant and industry which exploit the exposed minerals.
Landmarks:
- The Chasm: A vast open pit which is now part heavy works (deep mining) and part shanty town. A constant reminder to the city of what terrors super powered individuals can be capable of.
