Here's the first one I want to run by people for consideration: Active Defense right now allows a character to roll a bonus number (with a minimum of +1) and apply it to all defenses needed until the character's next turn. I am considering a change. Instead of rolling the bonus number right away, Active Defense would turn all actions against the character into a Contest. The character attempting something rolls normally, and if it would fail naturally, the defense is successful. But if it would succeed, the Active Defender then rolls on the defensive skill with a +4 bonus in an attempt to create a high enough total to cause the action to fail. What do people think?

As an active defense eats up your entire action, I'm not sure that giving the die a chance to crap out on you-even with a +4 bonus-would be a good idea.

I get the point, but on the other side, if you were going to be missed anyway, there is no die roll. Also, you know just how good you need to get to avoid the hit before the die roll, so Possibilities are more wisely spent. Again, I'm not going to put it in if people hate it; I'm just offering explanation as to why it's being considered.

My only concern is multi-targed.

Raw, JT(my current Defensive character) pulls up his shield and rolls , and the bonus # applies to every attack against him, spell, interaction, attack...all.

Your proposal reads as only applying to one. I I am misreading...if Vs would roll all attacks so the H knows what the highest target number is, I could get on board.
