Re: Copenhagen Scene 2: Town Meeting

Void:
Void returned the thumbs-up the trolls gave them, seemingly fading back into observation and existence as she did so.

"What does that mean?" She asked Case. She smiled at the trolls, not sure of the significance of either gesture but wanting to learn more. Humanity and human existence were abstracts, things she had witnessed but had very personal experience with.

"Am I doing it correctly?"

Case looks to back and forth and thinks a moment, "It's a sign of acceptance.  That you are all right to them."  He shrugs, "Uh...like they like what we did and that we were cool about it."

Case glances to Revenant as he talks to Void, hoping that the bandage man's friend can get them inside with no trouble.

Seeing a group approach the gate, Furg points to Jacob. "You, with the bandages, come through. Others go home."

Jacob gives his weapons to his friends, raises his hands, showing himself to be unarmed. Then he steps forward.

"My friends will wait outside for me, is that alright?" Granted he would prefer the others come with, as he was terrible at diplomacy.

"I dunno...," Case glances to the trolls, "I don't think it's a good idea to go by yourself.  It's probably going to take more than just seeing Tongue Lasher to deliver the invitation to convince him that's a good idea."

He bites his lip, "And the mayor made a good point that there's a difference between how Earth and Aysle understand social things.  We might look really weak and stupid in their eyes meaning we'd be worthless allies if we can be pushed around so easily when just trying to see Frold."

Void pulled her arms free of the voluminous cloak she wore and held them up. "These are attached and, as far as I know, cannot be left behind. I am happy to keep them on display if that would allay fears."

She looked at the trolls and gave them a thumbs-up.

"Well if we leave our weapons, they might change.  I think we should find some way to convince them to let us all through to see Frold.  Not sure if that will involve much talking or something else but don't think we should split up."

Shuluf tells Furg to let all of you in. After they do, Shuluf grabs the nearest troll by the shoulder and shoves him toward you. "You! Take these visitors to see Tongue Lasher!" As he turns around, you see Murk was the one grabbed and he winks. "This way, visitors."

Murk takes you the remaining two blocks to the sports center and stops in front. "I don't know what business you have in Trollsport, but I got you in. It is good to see people from the past, even if it makes my head hurt."

"Tongue Lasher Frold is the most feisty troll I have ever encountered. She can wrestle with the best of us. And unlike the rest of the trolls here, she seems to have something other than literal moss for brains. When I first mentioned ideas like independence and self-governance, she was the only one who seemed to understand on the first try."

Copenhagen Scene 2: Town Meeting

After a brief exchange of information between Jacob and Murk (including telling Murk that the group really were visitors here to see Tongue Lasher and not just using that as an excuse to get in), he leads them into the sports complex. Murk goes to the back office area, bangs on a door, and shouts, "Visitor Storm Knights to see Tongue Lasher!" He then departs.

The door is opened by a female troll with larger biceps than any of the male trolls you have seen so far. "Welcome, Storm Knights! What brings you to see me?"

Johnny performs a salute he remembers from...he doesn't remember; closed fist, knuckles out, banged and held on chest. "We bring a message of hope and peace." he says. The words don't feel like they fit, even as he says them. He can only hope his statement isn't misunderstood.

Copenhagen Scene 2: Town Meeting

Tongue Lasher Frold bounces like a child at Christmas. "Ooh! A letter from the Mayor!" She calls over another troll and hands the letter to him. "To the Throne Room, everyone!"

She leads everyone through the sports complex, then sends the flunky troll ahead as she stops at a vending machine filled with sports drinks named after a North American reptile. Tongue Lasher drops a few Danish Kroner coins into the machine and pushes a button. When it fails to do anything, she casually rips the lock off and tosses it behind her, getting part of it stuck in the far wall.

"The flavors we have are orange, red, blue, and, um... cloudy. What would you like?"

"I'm...good, thanks." Jacob said, seeing a troll acting like a child was a bit bizarre. Also, eating and drinking for him was an unpleasant experience now. His internal organs where not even located in his body, and had been put in jars...somewhere. You never knew how much you missed something until it was gone.

After handing out drinks (Ivan and Void can be assumed to have one if they want), Tongue Lasher continues down the hall to the former training area for the sports complex. There are eight ice baths set up and ready for people to use. Tongue Lasher moves to the largest one (which appears to be a converted horse trough) and climbs in. She then waves toward the other ice baths, indicating that she expects each of you to enter one. Meanwhile, the flunky troll has opened the invitation and holds it for her to read.

Anyone who enters an ice bath needs to make a DN 12 Strength test to keep from shivering and chattering during the discussions. Those who fail are Very Stymied, while Good success will impress her and make future persuasion tests Favored. Anyone who wants to "decline the honor" can attempt a DN 14 persuasion test to avoid offending her.
